I kinda like her voice. I just hope she doesn't sound too Traynorish or I won't be able to get her out of my head.

I think that Solas guy is ridiculous. I never thought Fester or Dobby, more the old Dracula or that guy with no nose from Harry Potter. I really don't like characters without hair.

And Cole kind of creeps me out. I really don't think he should be in this game.

My problem is that I tend to recognize VAs, and I associate character with a voice. She needs to be a really good actress not to remind me constantly about Traynor. Like Hale could pull off Satele\Bastila Shan. One needs to listen very carefully to hear a jedi girl in femShep (and vice versa).

Playing DAA is a little nightmare for me, because I can't associate Elis with Anders. But something tells me, that I'm going to have even harder time not to think about DAA, now that we've got Cullen in DAI.

Probably, it's going to be not that bad, but I'm really concerned that they had reused two voices from ME3 crew. Also, they had promised to give 2 VA options for each gender.

I haven't played any of the Dragon Age games yet. I've been planning on DAI to be my first for a whille. From what I understand, the Dragon Age games are separate stories set in the same realm, so there is no need to play them in order.

I've been seeing this guy get a lot of attention from the gaymer community:

He looks neat. I hope I like him.

The stories are connected, but not directly. I assume DAI will bring them together somehow.  Whether it makes sense or not.... I guess we'll see. You could play them out of order and it wouldn't be a big deal really. It's actually kinda interesting that way.

I think that's a picture of Dorian, right? He's got nice hair ;)
I haven't found a companion I'm that into yet, but I'm open. Well, except the bald guy.

Yes. That is a picture of Dorian who I believe sounds really interesting. I may have to play a male inquisitor just to get the full Dorian effect.

I really enjoyed Dragon Age: Origin. It's what got me into Bioware games. DA2 is a woulda/coulda/shoulda game for me. You can see the potential but it never really lives up to it. That said I still enjoyed playing it. I do believe I benefited from coming to it late so I knew it had its flaws. If I had played it when it first came out and with the expectations that DAO built up, I can see being really really mad at BW. It sounds like BW has taken its time with DAI so I'm really looking forward to it coming out this fall.

I liked DA2 pretty well. I think I'm in the minority, but I really loved the battle system. It's so different from DAO though, you're right. I can't blame people for not liking it. I'm definitely looking forward to it too.

I think you'd better start from the beginning. While those stories have different heroes, many things are tied. Not to mention that DAI is going inevitably contain some HUGE spoilers about the previous games, it's like knowing that Vader was Luke's father (or even worse). Couple of moments both in DAO and DAA ahould better be experienced before DAI, imo.

Well, you're not alone. I'm replaying it currently preparing for the DAI. This game has so many issues, yet there are many things I love about it. I'm not even sure, that I'm going to enjoy DAI as much.

But I'm not sure I want to play DAO or DAA at all. I was thinking I would just play DAI and not worry about those games unless I found myself so in love with DA that I was craving more.

Since we really don't know much about the story of DAI, we can't tell to what extent it'll matter playing the first two. Superficially, the stories aren't dependent on each other. But there's a story underneath that matters. The story of the characters themselves won't matter much really, but I think it's the story of Thedas that you'll miss. Even then though, I don't think it'll matter.

You played ME3 first didn't you? I'd say, if you didn't mind that, then you might as well give DAI a chance. If you like characters more then story then you'll most likely be fine. And yeah, maybe you'll like it so much you want to go back and play the first two.

Ash, how can one play DAI without meeting Varric ( and Cassandra) first? Without knowing who that Morrigan lady is? Not to mention that DAI events are largely based on the DA2 ending, and knowing THAT thing would ruin DA2 experience greatly (imo).

Also, some of DAO final decisions are confirmed to be important. Like we're going to meet the ruler of Ferelden, and it would also spoil some of DAO plot moments.

But I'm not sure I want to play DAO or DAA at all.

Well, DAA is optional in many ways, it does not even influence DA2. If I were you I'd tried (at least) starting from DA2. It explains some of DAO backstory and many things about the ongoing DAI events, and it involves most of the important characters (Varric, Cullen, Cassandra). But it's up to you, of course.

Haha, well, Morrigan will probably be an issue, but I think it'd probably be ok to do the Keep thing they're planning and just play DAI. Who knows how good the thing'll be, but it might give enough backstory to at least know where you're going and who's with you. Of course, I would totally recommend playing through DAO just to meet Morrigan. She's hands down my favorite Bioware character.

I'm pretty curious about The Keep. It'll be pretty disappointing if/when it doesn't work :/

You played ME3 first didn't you?

No, I played the Mass Effect trilogy in order; I just started ME1 after ME3 (and the extended cut) came out. But that's different since you play Shepard in all three games.

Do you import save files in Dragon Age? Maybe that will be what decides it for me.

They're making the Dragon Age Keep which let's you choose different decisions from the first games. It's supposed to be really in depth. I haven't heard whether or not you can import files from the first two games. I guess we'll see. The default options suck, so I wouldn't go with those if possible.

First thing that caught my eye was the Millennium Falcon holstered on her hip, but I'm guessing we're talking about her bulge. Lmao. Maybe she wears a cup of some sort. It still really hurts to be kicked in the pubic bone even for women.

No doubt it is, but it does look like someone somewhere had misplaced a body type...

I really hope it's not what we get in game, because female-human-rogue is very likely to be my choice. Even if that's some sort of protective pad, it should not look like...this, lol.

Haha! Sorry, Nrieh. Maybe that's where she keeps her poison powders, smoke bombs, or whatever tools rogues use in this game. :P

Question about Dragon Age: Do you get to decide what skills your squadmates learn like you do in Mass Effect? I want to keep Dorian far away from necromancy.

IIRC yes, since in DA2 Merril is a blood mage and i never invested points into her blood magic tree, thought it was useless (turns out she's awesome if built correctly)

I want to keep Dorian far away from necromancy.

He might already have some of those skills. I doubt one can entirely respec NPC (other than via some sort of editor), but yeah, previous DA games allowed player to pick the desired skills for companions. DAO had the most of flexibility, but DA2 still had some options too.

The thing is that sometimes skills go as a part of the character. I can't imagine Varric going dual daggers, archer Alistair  or Anders using blood magic (is an option in DAA). It's like using Kaidan as a non-biotic fighter.

Uh oh...  :crying:

That's a huge problem for me. I have a strong loathing for all things undead. If he knows any necromancy at all, then I won't be romancing him, which is a shame because I like his design.

And with the Iron Bull being my only alternative, I struggle to find motivation to play this game at all.

At least I know not to pick up my copy on release day. Thanks, Nrieh! That really helps!

Now come on!  Someone who had survived ME3 should not have much trouble with headcanoning away a preset skill or two. That's if his character is not developed entirely around the undeads, of course. It'd make it really hard to ignore.

By the way, I think I've got a good reason for you to start with DAO. ;)  You've got the whole 1.5 month for it.

No necromancy involved, I swear!

Yeah, and if Dorian's got necromancy skills from the start, there's a good chance he'll lean that way in convos too. Best to wait and see.

Has anyone seen if there's a default inquisitor face?
