it was so ridiculous that all the apostates were wearing Anders' outfit. I guess it was a fashion statement?

Be an Apostate! Dress at J&Unders'!

J&Unders - the bloody fashion magic!

Bro!

I'd say be careful about spending too much time on optional quests. Do a spattering of story and side quests. Use your gamer's intuition, lol. And yeah, the Hinterlands are huge and those quests aren't going anywhere. If you're tired of them, then move on.

My gamer instincts tell me to explore everywhere except the areas that will advance the plot, because you never know when the game will decide to cut off access to certain areas.

I ran into a dragon that kicked my ass. Guess I have the save that spot for later.

Just go with it then. There's just so much to do. It's like an RPG lover's trap. As long as you're enjoying it then just do it. Get bored? Go do a story quest and move things along and come back to side quests. Enjoy the ride.

It can get overwhelming in the Hinterlands.  And you can save Dragons for last. Man I love killing dragons.

Ahahaha same thing happened to me in my first 3 hours of playing.

One day i shall have my revenge.

Now while i'm here i just want to say, that every game in DA series, Bioware proceeds to take out my favourite things in the game

In DA:O my  favourite things was -> Arcane Warrior and Cone of Cold spell, in DA2 they took out arcane warrior...

Sorry, Doodle.  :(

If it makes you feel any better, none of my favorite things were ever in the game. No wind magic, no polearms, no monks.

I'm playing rogue for the first time ever in any game because I have no interest in warrior unless I can use polearms, and Dorian is already a mage.

Intresting.

Well. i enjoy playing a mage, and how funny it is that (this is my story, so do not worry)

The Hero Of Ferelden is a mage

The Champion of Kirkwall is a mage

The personwithmanynames is a mage

The maker has spoken, mages shall be hero's.

Although i have many characters, of all, warriors, mages or rogues, i myself will always have the main file as mages

even how awesome twin daggers was in DA2

Also.... ARCHERS IN THIS GAME ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE, HOW ARE THEY SO ****** STONG

Lol Doodle! All mine are mages except the Hero of Ferelden. I hated mage in that game.

And the hero in DAI is Herald. Mine will always be named Herald from now on.

Also.... ARCHERS IN THIS GAME ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE, HOW ARE THEY SO ****** STONG

Seriously. WTF?! And they're always hidden somewhere. Can't figure out why you're dying? Oh it's probably that archer hiding in the bush. And in Multiplayer they're impossible. You always run into a horde of them and they just slaughter you.

Archers need a ****** nerfbat.

i see archers and like K i'ma kill em first.

but no. my team attacks the warriors, and the archers hit me twice and i'm kinda dead.

but now that i respec'd some of my points, i'm safe to say.

I can kill em without getting hit. thank god for that

Mage is kind of a comfort pick for me, too. I would have picked it if not for Dorian. I wanted to leave a permanent spot in the party for him in case I ended up liking him (still up in the air because I haven't met him in game yet).

The theory behind my rogue is that he uses the power of science to fell his enemies. I wanted to do either engineering, alchemy, or a combination of the two. A friend told me there are trees like that, they're just called Artisan and Tempest and you have to unlock them through Varric and Sera. That's kind of why I want to get Sera as soon as I can, so I can learn alchemy from her. But it looks like it's going to take a while before those skill trees become available. In the meantime, Adan taught me how to make bombs, so that's good.

Also, I want a crossbow. I'm tired of my longbow.

Well to be perfectly honest. i enjoy having 1 of each role in my party along with whatever role i have.

Regardless if i'm a mage, rogue or warrior, i'll always have another.

although i don't think there are any cross-bows in this game, apart from Bianca but that's varric exclusive

Also note: i traded out Varric for Cole in my party.

Bianca got kinda too weak for my liking.

Also for some reason, this game gives me the lack of good mage weapons and armour but a ton of daggers...

like a village full of daggers.

so many daggers

Edit ->

Now my favourite thing to do in this game is while we're in >Semi-Location-Spoiler Ahead<

Skyhold

I like to jump off high places, yell I'M THE INQUISITOR and casually stroll to my party members.

Easier then fast travel.

I thought you get your specializations from a quest at a certain part of the story. I only know mage stuff though.

And I don't care about classes so much as who I like. I'm playin hard mode and haven't had too much trouble so far. On normal or below it really doesn't matter, especially since there's no healing magic and everyone can revive. The only trouble I had was when I didn't have my rogue. I hate locked doors.

Bahaha! I love to too. Hurray for no falling damage there.

Hope you all had a very nice Christmas.

Did some progress during the story.

Alot of side quests....

Like alot.

Killed several dragons. got my revenge on one of them.

Got to get revenge on a new dragon in the storm coast.

Knight Enchanter is broken.

I love it.

Knight enchanter was a lot of fun. Does it still have its combo? I heard they changed it.

I'm a rift mage this time around. I miss Knight Enchanter.

I recruited everyone except Cole. I spent forever with just Varric, Solas, and Cassandra, but once you go to Val Royeaux, companions just start piling in.

Dorian opposes the use of blood magic (at least the Tevinter definition of it?), so that's a relief. He's okay. I definitely prefer Kaidan over him, though.

Ha! Yeah Dorian's definitely not DAI's Kaidan. He's still my favorite DAI character though.

i don't recall a combo with it, however it might be due because i didn't start playing it until after the 2nd patch hit, which changed it.

but either way, it reminds me of arcane warrior so much, i had to pick it.

also getting a barrier every time i attack, i'm a tank all over again.

When i was looking at the skills of specializations (i used the companions to see the tree's)

Rift mage looked so much like force mage from DA2 which i didn't really like.

Necromancy looked quite nice, but since i highly dislike 2 of the same specializations on the same team.

But Knight Enchanter drew me in like a moth to a flame.

I have Cole now. Not at all what I was expecting. But my Inquisitor has an open mind and doesn't take Chantry rhetoric seriously, so he's curious to learn more about Cole.

Vivienne seems to disapprove of every decision I make. She's getting short with me in dialogue. Will she leave the Inquisition if I don't pander to her more? Should I care? We definitely disagree on a lot.

I think Solas is my bro in the same way that Garrus is a bro to a lot of Shepards (although mine had a bigger bromance with Wrex).

I don't think anybody'll leave unless you tell them to leave. Vivienne disapproves of just about everything I do too, especially of Sera. That was a pretty funny convo.

It's just like Force mage, but with fewer spells and stuff. It's incredibly boring.

I miss primal spells.

Well, iirc only Cole and Dorian will freely leave if their approval is low.

However, i have great approval with Vivienne, maybe it's because i kept lying to her about the need of the circles....

Cole is awesome.

And yeah i miss primal spells to....but i love most of the ice spells.

Oh yikes. I didn't know Cole could leave if approval was low.

Yeah, he's one of my favorites too. He's got some of the best banter.

Those things he says when you talk to him,

Spoiler

Uh, not really sure if people would think that's a spoiler.
