I used to study in the bath, but I kept dropping my notes in the water.

I was born in Buffalo, NY. And grew up in a tiny suburban city that no one has ever heard of unless they live around here.(Even some of them haven't heard of it really.) And now I live in a much larger town that no one has heard of either, with a similar name to the city I mentioned. Still stuck in the suburbs around Buffalo, alas.
I'm plotting to leave eventually. Someday. I hope.
Not Tonowanda?
I was born in the northern Ontario in a village of 200 people (Port Loring). Moved south to St. Catharines and now reside most of the year in Fort Erie, just across from Buffalo.

Actually, yes. I live in Tonawanda.Grew up in North Tonawanda. There's a lot of Tonawandas around here. 2 cities, and one town.

I have friends that live in Tonawanda. But then I have friends that live in just about every 'burb in the Buffalo area.
There's a place along the canal that I used to get the best Beef on Weck . Dunno if it is still there. Can't recall its name now.

Aha. I live in the Town of Tonawanda, I think. Right down the street from an all boys' highschool. It's a nice mostly residental area. Though it is awfully close to Buffalo. Maybe about 5-10 minutes away from Riverside.
I have no idea what restaurant you're talking about. But then, the only time that I have roast beef sandwiches is at home. And I'm not terribly fond of them most the time. Not to mention the fact that the canal goes all the way through the area.
I lived right near the canal when I lived in NT. My grandma's house was actually on the canal.

I cant remember if they are in the town or city. I know that it's a
quiet street that is near an old Railroad Right of Way. We used to walk
along it.
Is Grant St in the town or city?
The canal fest is fun.

What fest isn't fun? Every weekend there are festivals in the Buffalo area. I can't get to them all. Good thing, cause with all that food being served, I'd be blimp by now:)

I'm not sure that they happen quite that often.
But then, my parents aren't very fond of the actual city. They're worried that something bad will happen any time we go into Buffalo. So, we've never gone to any of the festivals actually in Buffalo.
Haha. We have pretty good food here. That's one of the few good things about Buffalo. My aunt on my dad's side moved to North Carolina several years back. Everytime she visits, she brings an extra suitcase or two for stuff when she goes shopping. Apparently she buys a lot of stuff from Wegmans.Because they don't have the same things down there that we do up here.

Yeah, Downtown Buffalo is pretty rugged. But the food..... hmmmmmmmmm<3. We just had a potluck with some of our US friends for St Patricks day, and one made Salt Potatoes to go along with the Corned Beef and Cabbage. Most of our friends are from the other side of Buffalo.. Cheektowaga area.
When the dollar is right, we go with friends to grocery shop over the river. Food prices are so much cheaper than they are in Ontario.
Nhadalie wrote...
I don't think you spelled Cheektowaga right, but I'm not sure how to spell it. I just know how to pronounce it.
Lots of people live out in Cheektowaga though. They have lower taxes on houses and such. We were looking at a house out there before my parents bought this one.
That's hilarious, because whenever we go to Ontario, we go grocery shopping basically. We always have to buy plum sauce, relish, and wildberry vodka coolers. My family insists that Canadian relish is different.
I always buy kinder bueno when I go over there, because they don't make kinder products in the US. Mmm. Hazlenut cream filled chocolate wafers. So jealous.

For Mustard, nothing beats Webers. Can only get that over on your side. Wildberry coolers... My wife loves them.
Each country has certain things that standout. Great for us lucky enough to live close to the border. Every summer, I have my friends bring over a big bottle of Chaevetta's(sp?) sauce and a 5 lb bag of Sahlen's Hot Dogs. Can't get sauce like that here, nor hot dogs that taste so good.
Kinder bueno, very nice when the temperature is hot...

Eh. We don't buy Webers' mustard, personally. But some people in my extended family do, and I've had it before. It's not bad. But I'm not terribly picky about mustard.
Wildberry coolers are awesome. Your wife has good taste.Chievetta's is also awesome. We usually have it once or twice a year. Generally during the summer time.
Funny thing though, we had Sahlen's hot dogs for dinner last night. Or at least, my mom and the dogs did.

Don't worry they'll be fine. Ive had a bit of snow and up north its worse. I don't think its Blizzard bad but up north in the less populated areas it might be worse. Ive not heard of any Blizzards myself.JRCHOharry wrote...
