I think it was Mark Darrah that mentioned it post Baldur's Gate 2, but it was effectively show him a game with infinite budget, and he'll show you a game that never ships.

James Cameron said something similar about making movies.

BG2 was an interesting case, as even BioWare didn't seem to realise how big a game they were making until quite some way into the development process.  And once they'd pieced together a playable build, Greg Zeschuk famously exclaimed "Does anyone realize how FREAKING HUGE this game is?"

I'm getting a weird SimCity vibe from those Espionage/Commerce/Military keeps...as if we'll have tiny "demand" bars in the corner to show us how the region needs more commerce if we have one too many espionage/military keeps, etc..  I hope it's not something annoying of that nature, trying to balance for the sake of behind-the-scenes percentages.  I like the aesthetics, though.  I hope each one is visit-able after we conquer and convert it.

I'm not quite sure I fully understand your concern.  Can you elaborate a bit?  It seems like you're concerned that we have to have some sort of balance of the outposts?

I think that's what they meant. Like for example, you won't be able to have many military keeps because a bar will tell you that a certain region/area(?) needs more espionage type keeps to be balanced.

BzuLX4x.jpg?1Sorry for the insanely huge picture, but I just wanted to throw this out there. Is it just me, or are the Red Templars that are attacking Crestwood actually smaller versions of the behometh? They don't look like your standard Red Templars, and they seem to have red crystals growing off their backs. It looks like they're wearing Templar armor, judging by the robe-like pants they have on.

Here's a link to a higher-quality gameplay video, albeit with some parts missing: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=f8xJMWRI-cA

I think these "red crystals" might actually be the red lyrium bows that those archers have.

If that were the case, what's the point of having bows when you can shoot magical red lyrium energy at people? They don't move like people in the video, and the shapes on their backs definitel don't resemble bows.

They look similar to this behemoth type creature here: Demon2DAI.jpg

Just rewatched the demo and you may be right about this. They look like they're suffering from a more severe stage of red lyrium consumption; they get these super cool energy powers similar to what Meredith had but it also means they're already well on their way to becoming one of these behemoths.

These are the male and female elven models. What I noticed is the difference in the shape of their ears. The female has a curvy, almost leaf-shaped ear, while the male's ear looks flat. The tip of the female's ear has a much narrower angle than that of the male. I don't know if this is a difference between male and female ears, a sign of possible customization for the ears in the CC. Or... the female is a dalish elf while the male a city elf! If this is true, then  "flat ears", the dalish slur for city elves finally makes sense!!! (Also, it would mean that we can play as both dalish and city elves!)

(Quoting myself again!)

Apparently, the elf background for all three classes is Dalish as per David Gaider's confirmation. Well, I had hoped to play a city elf rogue, but whatever. I'm really excited for a dalish mage though!

I think you're right about them being behemoths. The one in the cave didn't shoot these energy things though. Wonder why that is.

Anyway there seems to be a lot of tears in the Western approach area, which makes sense.

These are 2 statutes somewhere underground I think possibly in the deep roads, they have shown something like a Thaig with Behemoth's in it, and a crypt or underground with corpses in it.

This is an enemy type they haven't shown yet call the prowler, it's extremely agile and moves quickly, capable of stealth and primarily avoids head on conflicts in favor of stealth and backstabs, the combat video shows them in action.

There's something on the other monitor but I can't see it to well could be a sandstorm or mist or sonething.

(Sorry for snipping and bolding some parts of your comment.)

I assumed all the different tears you showed are in fact the same tear viewed from different angles.

I think the area with the statues isn't the deep roads, but the Fade actually .

Nice catch with the prowler. I didn't even remember it! I think it's actually a model of the Griffon's Wing keep and some of the surrounding area on the other monitor.

I like the aesthetics, though.  I hope each one is visit-able after we conquer and convert it.

I think we're able to visit our keeps after converting, as they showed that in the demo.

I agree with this. It could be a way to give the Red Templars more classes. There are the sword users, the bow users, then these pseudo-Behemoths, then the actual Behemoths.

What if the behemoths/pseudo-behemoths are actually Red Templars possessed by demons (meaning abominations)?

They are probably at least the gameplay equivalent.

Behemont looks like some kind of red lyrium abomination
Those crystals grow from same places as abomination's bonus flesh
Plus that thin hand looks also very similiar

EDIT:But now question is if ist caused by demon or if lyrium also has its own soul that is causing it

Okay, hmm, I know everyone is at the new thread now, but...

From Exploring the World of Dragon Age:

tumblr_n1uoe0Iw6Y1tug0kzo1_500.png

This area looks like it's composed of lots of small islands (it can be either a sea, or a marsh/swamp/thing), connected with bridges and ramps. The circular structure with the ramps looks really interesting... The area reminds me very much of this GI screenshot:

tumblr_n1uohzzdSA1tug0kzo1_500.png

Notice the stone ramp?!

(I don't know exactly when I'll stop quoting myself. No...)

Anyways, remember this one? I noticed something and changed my mind:

tumblr_n26ny2ky1p1tug0kzo3_400.png

There are trees in the watery area. Since trees growing in the sea is improbable, I think this area is a marshland. The Nahashin Marshes, maybe, which was one of the new areas they showed in the new trailer.

(This one:

tumblr_n225a1JNin1tug0kzo1_500.png

Sorry for posting it here, but I thought it helps to illustrate my point.)

Anyways, a few screenshots from the same area:

tumblr_n26ny2ky1p1tug0kzo2_400.png

tumblr_n26ny2ky1p1tug0kzo4_500.png

Notice the Stonehenge-like structures? They are very interesting!

This guy shows up for a few milliseconds when they open up the Inquisitor's inventory screen in the Digiexpo demo video. I don't know what's up with him either, but it's sort of funny (and really creepy as well)!

Weird o.o. It's like it loaded another inquisitor first. The armor was different and everything!

Why would a demon want to possess a person now? They can just walk through the rip in the Veil and experience the mortal world on their own directly.

They can't still experience the world as the mortals can, which is one of the things they want.

The Red Templar emblem is not unlike the emblem for Hungary's Ordo Draconum.

True but they still don't have to directly possess people. That desire demon in the Circle was perfectly happy with just feeding off the charmed templar and his feelings to experience what its like to be mortal.

That would still require attacking mortals though.

Yes but my point was that these mortals dont have to become possessed and become abominations. There are other ways demons can experience humanity now that the Veil is torn.

Of course, but I doubt that a mortal would be fine with being enthralled, sucked and (possibly) killed.
It's not like demons didn't have that choice when there were other Veil tears or demon outbreak (like in The Broken Circle). It depends on what the demon wants. They still might found possession better than enthralling people and feed off them.

Of course they're not gonna be fine with being enthralled against their will! These are demons after all.

But IMO I think enthralling someone is easier than possession because possession requires consent. Thats why the Circle mages had to be broken before they finally became abominations.
