Not sure why that would be in crestwood, unless we captured the crestwood keep from the tal-vashoth mercenaries  prior to the red templar attack.

Another option is that the company of mercenaries have sworn allegiance to the Inquisition (maybe due to Iron Bull being a leader and joining with the protagonist?)

My guess is Iron Bull is a main player in the Crestwood Area, since his part in the trailer (if that is him) shows a forested area much like Crestwood. I'm thinking he'll be an antagonist, though I hope you're right.

Is the mage chick a Qunari?

That would make sense since they confirmed earlier on in the demo that we are going back after taking it over sometime before then, or they're still in the area and have joined with the raiders in the area that you pointed out.

That is another strong possibility , guess we'll see in DAI or whenever they release more information on him.

Is the mage chick a Qunari?

No she is an human mage from Orliais and of Rivanni descent, and the hat is an orleasian style which explains why it looks like that.

That's disappointing.

Some excellent detective work, more things to chew on about the game.

I watched it again last night and noticed a few more small details:

The red templars brought some red lyrium with them

There's also a building across the lake from the keep

another possible action is to confront the red templars attacking the front of the keep

and here's the buildings behind the keep:

But the symbol on the boat is still the one we know from DAII, so why's the Templar symbol different on their shields in comparison to their armour?

Maybe to show us that they are just Templars turned 'bandits' who can't afford to use their new symbol on everything and just keep using old Templars shields on their ships?

Perhaps they did it to deceive the Keep. You know, like a 'Fly Friendly Colors' type thing. The once they landed, they launched a surprise attack.

But aren't the 'good guy' templars seperate from the Inquisition?

They are more neutral with each other to start with. While you can apparently get on their bad side, perhaps in this file the Inquisitor hasn't.

I suppose so. I don't feel that the shields actually are that easily spotted at all from the distance of the keep, but who am I to judge..

Well, we have spyglasses. :P

In truth, I'm just spitballing but it seems a clever tactic on the Red Templar's part to pretend to be their more moderate counterparts.

Or its just a "this is an Alpha build of the game" type thing and those were just placeholders.

Well yeah, but they aren't necessarily hostile to the Inquisition.

Could be that as well.

Really? A serious and rational explanation? I thought I knew you to be better than that.

Well, it could also be Qunari mercenary Iron Bull killed a bunch of Templars and traded their shields and weapons for Qunari prisoners with the Red Templars.

That was actually my first thought, combined with:

"They are bandit/outlaw-Templars. Let them have a mix between normal and Red Templar-equipment to make it look like they're not as well-equipped and organised as the normal Templar Order."

Great effort OP, really fun and interesting. I'm so looking forward to playing the game and seeing how right or wrong we all are.

I noticed something amazing, couldn't find apicture but you guys can see for yourselves.

The Red Lyrium monster the party's fighting in the cave below Crestwood's Keep? It's wearing Templar armor.  :o
What could this mean? It looks like a Templar got really, really angry and there came Red Hulk.

Maybe the creature was under 'evil' Templar control? Would make sense if they wanted to protect their asset should that be the case.
