considering they brought some with them.... I bet they are ingesting it. SO the effects may be different than Meredith. PLUS Meredith had an idol, not just red lyrium.

I wonder if it turns them all to monsters. I hope we find out, in-game. It also makes. E curious as to if th Chantry cut them off from the regular blue Lyrium.

The Templars separated themselves from the chantry so they definitely dont have access to blue lyrium from the official channels ie. dwarves. They must have been truly desperate to start using red lyrium as a source.

See we don't truly know who is in control of the lyrium trade.  Considering the templars policed it and transported it and everything, it is entirely possible the Templars either continue to control part of it, know where to get lyrium through the black market, or just took the majority of the chantry's lyrium with them when they left.

I don't see Lambert leaving the order in desperate need of lyrium.

Looks like each class will have a controlled dodge ability? Inquisitor could roll, Viviene could teleport a short distance...this could make combat a lot more player involved and cool, like when Mass effect 3 added dodging! I approve (hopefully the cooldowns won't be ridiculous though).

If the Mages and Templars are no longer associated with the Chantry then the Chantry has no reason to purchase Lyrium. This means that the Dwarves would lose their main export, which could potentially destroy their economy.

Unless the Chantry keep buying it and just store it somewhere or the Inquisition becomes large enough to import it in sufficient quantities the Dwarves would be forced to sell it to the Templars and Mages anyway, whether the Chantry disapproved or not.

Also (and I know that such a position is a touchy subject for some but) Multiplayer.

The fact that the player appears to have more direct control of how they interact with the world in combat, would mean that a MP component wouldn't be as far fetched or 'game breaking' as was originally thought. Games with behind the scenes dice rolling (DA:O) would have been counter intuitive to adding MP, but with DA:I's seemingly fluid elements of blocking, dodging/rolling, the possibility is far more likely.

Which I personally find as a good thing, and I hope that co-operative MP is included with the game.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure we'll get MP this time, mostly because of EA saying that every game they make will have MP from now on. So the more action focused skills, the better the MP could possibly be. And those skills (dodging, teleporting, etc) could be optional to use, allowing players that prefer tactical combat to just play like they did in DAO. Of course all this is just speculation at this point.

well....

There are still a small amount of templars and seekers loyal to the chantry, and then there's the mages who started up that circle in orzammar.

This inspired mages from other parts of Thedas to establish a new Circle of Magi in Orzammar itself, one that had ready access to dwarven lyrium... and lies outside the Chantry's power completely. The willingness of Orzammar to harbor apostates sparked outrage that began whispers that the Divine was contemplating a new Exalted March.

Perhaps the Red Templars are a sub-faction of the Templars. I can't imagine all of the Templars left the Chantry.

Very desperate. I'm sure ingesting the stuff is much worse than having the idol.

I remember Anders thinking that the idol functioned like a demon when Hawke and co found Bartrand. Maybe red lyrium is demonic.

My guess would be that something has to be alive to enter the fade. It would make no sense for non living physical objects to enter a world of no physical substance.

Plus, there is also the fact that for all we know the tears could be one way.

I'd probably say that it'd be that last bit. Maybe with a bit of hocus pocus they could be turned into two-way portals though.

Well, if they are equivalent to histotic ships of that desing, the mast and sails could just be dissassembled.

EA actually said that every game they make from now on will have some kind of online or social aspect - not multiplayer.

The DA Keep satisfies that requirement for DA:I, for example.

That said, I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a multiplayer component - but only because ME3's was so successful, to the point of beating their own expectations by a fair margin.

No not all of the Templars are using it, and we really don't know why the red templars are using and ingesting it, where they got it from or why they're attacking people besides the fact it makes people crazy.

See we don't truly know who is in control of the lyrium trade.  Considering the templars policed it and transported it and everything, it is entirely possible the Templars either continue to control part of it, know where to get lyrium through the black market, or just took the majority of the chantry's lyrium with them when they left.

I agree with you, we don't know what they did with the lyrium in the chantry or if they found another supplier, etc.

I also don't think Lambert is desperate of finding or needing lyrium aswell or even considers using the red Lyrium and considering what happened to Meredith I don't see him and his Templars using it.

Perhaps the Red Templars are a sub-faction of the Templars. I can't imagine all of the Templars left the Chantry.

Correct they are indeed a splinter faction of the Templars and bioware already confirmed this during pax and again via game informer in their coverage.

There seems to be 3 factions of them now the ones loyal to the divine, the ones loyal to Lambert and the red Templars.

Below is an excerpt from one of the articles that state that the red templars are splinter faction.

A splinter faction known as the Red Templars, who are essentially Templars who have taken to using Red Lyrium, is threatening the town for unknown reasons.

By Templars I meant red Templars. I forgot to add 'red'.

As for the initial source I think it was Meredith. They must have ground her up and ingested the red lyrium dust or something.

In the video mentioned by Nuloen you can see the boats moving without any sails ;) But that could've been a possibility for sure.

...Or they could just be rowboats. Galley-type ships were used into the modern age (the one after the middle ages,

sorry non-native speaker here =P) so why wouldn't a invasion-force use them?

I'm pretty sure that's EA's way of saying 'everything will have MP, get over it', hahah. You could be right though.

How does the DA Keep satisfy the social requirement though? So far we know that we'll be able to create our DA worlds, not interact with other players.

It's an online component.

Hold on, I'll find the forum post where Bioware talked about this. From memory it was Allan.
