OP, you're the best

Seriously though, I'm beyond excited and it's the way is so painful. I'm hoping this years E3 will have more info, or even PAXE or PAXPrime. Something, anything lol.

EA actually said that every game they make from now on will have some kind of online or social aspect - not multiplayer.

The DA Keep satisfies that requirement for DA:I, for example.

That said, I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a multiplayer component - but only because ME3's was so successful, to the point of beating their own expectations by a fair margin.

How does DA:K do that? Is it a social thing, or?

I know what it's purpose is, just not how it meets the online/social standard. :)

Because it will be on Cloud, so you'll need online capabilities to access it.

^ There was Chris Priestly here:

http://social.biowar.../15619083/&lf=8

I definitely remember someone else saying more recently that the Keep satisfied the online component that Peter Moore talked about, but I can't find the post now.

When Moore talked about not approving any singleplayer games, he meant games that were completely isolated and had no online or social features whatsoever - but as Chris Priestly and David Gaider have suggested, even DA:O had an "online component" in its character profiles that could be uploaded to the BSN.

Inquisition could still have multiplayer (I think it's certainly not out of the question), but EA didn't mandate that every game needed to have it.

It meets EA's "must have an online component" prerequisite because the Keep stores the information on servers on BioWare's end and not locally, I believe. It then sends the information back to your game when you want to use it.

I think it's online *or* social. The Keep is online, and it might be social too. There are more features that they're not talking about yet, in terms of what the Keep is and what it can do. At a minimum, I guess it would do what Origins did and allow you to upload character information to show off to friends, or something.

Thanks! Did the beta get pushed back for that?

The beta is rolling out in waves, and they've actually already started with a small group of players. I believe the intention is to keep expanding the number of beta testers until they start doing larger stress tests much closer to launch.

No not all of the Templars are using it, and we really don't know why the red templars are using and ingesting it, where they got it from or why they're attacking people besides the fact it makes people crazy.

I agree with you, we don't know what they did with the lyrium in the chantry or if they found another supplier, etc.

I also don't think Lambert is desperate of finding or needing lyrium aswell or even considers using the red Lyrium and considering what happened to Meredith I don't see him and his Templars using it.

Correct they are indeed a splinter faction of the Templars and bioware already confirmed this during pax and again via game informer in their coverage.

There seems to be 3 factions of them now the ones loyal to the divine, the ones loyal to Lambert and the red Templars.

Below is an excerpt from one of the articles that state that the red templars are splinter faction.

A splinter faction known as the Red Templars, who are essentially Templars who have taken to using Red Lyrium, is threatening the town for unknown reasons.

Thanks for sharing the info. It also points out a good reason to save the keep (combating pesky fade creatures).

Just a heads up for all the lovely contributors to the thread, while trying to improve the original post with all the new discoveries, I encountered a "picture limit"  <_<

so for future major hidden gem discoveries, I'll post a new thread.

i'll see if I can edit the thread topic to make it more encompassing. That way, I can share minor things I found in the Game Informer videos.

Please do! I have found a few things in those videos that might be worth discussing!

So something I noticed from the Fires Above trailer:

Though the scene where varric morns over the dead in crestwood later looks different in the demo, there's still something I noticed.

-There's a symbol on the flag on the field
tumblr_n1u0ugHISR1sjnh4bo1_400.png

In the Game Informer videos I found these:

-Possible qunari mage build
tumblr_n1u0ugHISR1sjnh4bo3_400.png

-concept art, and in-game stills

Last but not least, the cave we walk past after we salvage the crestwood keep belongs to Raiders, according to the sign outside:

tumblr_n1jhi1h6ax1sjnh4bo10_500.png

That's interesting. We know that the Raiders can be generally found on the coasts of the Waking Sea, so assuming the flag isn't just a placeholder, would that indicate that Crestwood is located along the northern coast of Ferelden?

They also said that the area is "relatively" untouched by the Blight. We know that the darkspawn destroyed Lothering, and reached Denerim, most of the Bannorn, village of Honnleath (if I'm not mistaken, for which they have to cross the Hinterlands to reach it) and probably even touched Redcliffe somewhat.

Also, the area is surrounded by mountains covered in snow and there's a lake in there, supposedly with a dam, which means there's a river flowing out of it. Now the lake might not be so big to be featured on the map, and the river could be a small one, but maybe these will help us narrow down where Crestwood is located?

(Or maybe they've already said where it is and I just don't know yet and speculate for nothing  ).

Sorry for double post.

Pause this video at 28:24 and look at the right side of the screen. There seems to be some odd structure of rocks there, like something's floating. Now what do you think that is? My guess is nothing really, but still.

tumblr_n1u6bmG7jH1tug0kzo1_1280.png

If I'm to speculate, I'd say that could be the Shattered Colossus back there, with the Western Gate to the front. Probably after they're rebuilt.

tumblr_n1u6frTOgT1tug0kzo1_1280.png

That... structure caught my attention. Can't began to guess what it is.

Also, Vivienne!!! About the only shot of her in which she's facing the camera somewhat. Blurry too...  <_<

The possible qunari mage build looks more like an elf to me...and I think they were showing an elf head shape right before that?

I had not noticed Red Templars carried a different symbol from the standard one; hopefully this is yes another way of further distancing them from the more sympathetic Templars.

Good eyes, OP.

Yay thanks!!!

Okay, from GameInformer video, Combat of Dragon Age:

tumblr_n1u7prSyPm1tug0kzo1_500.png

It says "Adamant, Pursue ... Commander Clavel (or something)", and under the big "Gameplay", it seems to read "Warden Marksman".

tumblr_n1u80nYdXf1tug0kzo1_500.png

The Area is full of archers and shades.

tumblr_n1u848FM9I1tug0kzo1_500.png

So, we're fighting an Inquisition Soldier and it still is the same quest at Adamant. I wonder if the poor guy is possessed, or if some of our members start rebelling, with help from Wardens and demons. I think it's the former, but who knows...

Some shots of Adamant (I think):

tumblr_n1u8pjp3XM1tug0kzo1_400.png

tumblr_n1u8twg1XK1tug0kzo1_400.png

And...

tumblr_n1u8n8bteI1tug0kzo1_500.png

tumblr_n1u8lrgcgA1tug0kzo1_500.png

Okay, now we're someplace else.

 tumblr_n1u8d7r3Y71tug0kzo1_500.png

"Quest Updated: Reclamation", and we're fighting corpses. So apparently that's one of our keeps up there, which is overrun by walking corpses or something.

tumblr_n1u8xzwrJ41tug0kzo1_500.png

That looks like the blonde elf from the tavern concept art at the front...

tumblr_n1u93y4AjT1tug0kzo1_500.png

...and the supposedly Grey Warden guy.

tumblr_n1u95en90z1tug0kzo1_500.png

If this is indeed one of our keeps, I think it'll be my favorite in the game! It looks lovely! And also, the GW is standing on the stairs, right beside Vivienne. I've heard some people claim he's a dwarf. I think it's quite obvious here that he's human, considering he's as tall as Vivienne.

That's it for now... I think...

Good catch with spotting the Grey Warden! I'm really curious about him :D

Also the inquisitor soldier and all other combat scenes we've seen in the video don't necessarily have to be events that will be in the final game. Maybe that clip was from them testing how the soldier would function in combat, etc. Or maybe there really will be events that will make your soldiers turn against you?

I like this image. It looks like Vivienne can make a wall of fire as well as ice. I find that impressive. Wonder if she can make an ice storm as well.

Here's a much better shot of him and the elf!

Of course, you could be quite right about the soldier. As for the reasons why we might be fighting our own soldiers at Adamant, I have two theories:

1- (***Some spoilers for Dragon Age: Asunder***) From Asunder, we know that the veil is very thin, almost ripped at Adamant Fortress. It might be that while we're trying to capture/cleanse the fortress, some demons come through the veil and possess or influence the minds of those in the castle, including some of our soldiers.

2- We have claimed Adamant as our stronghold (highly doubt it), and have established a foothold there. Due to doing some stuff that has lowered the morale of our troops there, they rebel and we then have to put down the rebellion, lest the entire Inquisition crumbles down.

Of the two, I think the first one is closer to what's happening (assuming something is even happening).

It'd be interesting if doing things that might lower the morale of the troops (like having them leave their wounded during Crestwood) would result in them rebelling. That might give us some pause/or give us a more difficult time while trying to be the hero that saves all the innocent all the time, as that might cost us our power and our troops. I mean, it'd be nice if they have us do a lot more things in preparation so that we can be a good leader as well as a benevolent person, not that they should make it impossible.

I wish I knew how to make gifs. She looks really awesome while she casts the spells! Also yes, I really hope an Ice Storm spell is available as well.

Yeah, the first one sounds more possible. We'll definitely be fighting a lot of spirits and demon possessed people, with the Veil getting torn all over the place and all.

Also I noticed that the hair colors keep changing, hahah. The Grey Warden had blonde hair in one picture and black in the other. And is that elf's hair green or am I mistaking it for the grass?

It's a glitch with the lighting (lightening? God I'm hopeless). The green is probably a temporary color.

If my theory that we captured the keep from qunari mercenaries is correct, then I would bet they wouldn't be that close to a major city.

That's why I'm a bit suspicious that it might not be located in the area we have speculated. We would run into either Jader or Haven... Though, how amazing would it be if we went back to Haven or the Temple of the Sacred Ashes?!! The other lake in that area to the south seems to be too far away from the coast for the Raiders to appear.

Good! Vivienne's got back.
