It'll probably be a LI thread, requesting Cullen for romance and/or another thread with someone wondering why Cullen is so popular.   Give it by the weekend. :P

I don't have any money, but we'll see.

Cullen or Cole really, although Cullen does have a longer track history with threads.

EDIT: Originally, we were going to call it "Scuttlebutt around the Web & Beyond" but we thought might be too long. Let me know if you think title would have clarified or if we were right to edit it down to just the one word!

I like it the way it is. I don't really think it needs clarification since there's a description of what the forum is for before you open it. Scuttlebutt is a fun word and it's never a bad thing to expand your vocabulary.

Qistina, hun, never change. :D

It's "boot straps."

Definition: a loop at the back of a boot, used to pull it on.

Scuttle...Scuttle...SCUTTLEBUTT!

Okay, someone needs to draw this up now.  I don't have the skills, but I wonder what a scuttlebutt would look like?

And they need to throw in an Easter Egg in Inquisition referencing the All-Mighty Scuttlebutt in some way.

Not a fan of scuttlebutt. It has negative connotations. If you wanted an obscure word for talk I nominate Palaver.

Don't like "The Lobby" for Off Topic either. It just seems like marketing lingua non-sensicolalala.

Wasn't he that character with a news reporter for a leg from South Park?

It did sound a bit weird (English not being my first language), but I don't mind.

I heard "The Lobby" as the name of a general discussion/off-topic sub forum years ago.  Shoot, I think AOL used it once upon a time (over 20 years ago....)

The "waiting area" in a lot of games with MP is called The Lobby.  battle.net used to have an area called "The Lobby" for Diablo games.  Personally, I don't mind that. It sounds cleaner than "Off-topic."

Scuttlebutt, on the other hand, is going to take some getting used to.  On the plus side, I have a new word to teach my little nephews.  I love teaching them words that sound dirty but are actually clean.

I know South Park referenced it, but I honestly haven't watched the show very much in about 15 years or so.

Seeing as I have a number of relatives who were in the navy, I find the usage of scuttlebutt amusing and apropos. I don't know why some people seem to be having an issue with it. I studied Japanese for several years, and if I wasn't familiar with a Japanese slang word (or even a regular one) I looked it up in my reference books. I rather like learning slang terms - they can be quite colorful.

Being ex-Navy myself, think it is the perfect noun for a title and much better than General Discussion.

It was "Scuzzlebutt" on South Park and he had Patrick Duffy for a leg.

Thanks for the explanation. The first time I was confused. I'm not sure why this word is better than general discussion ( I like when things are clear in a forum ) but I'm okay with it.

1)Scuttlebutt doesn't work for me, as it doesn't seem to fit in well with everything else. It's a 'themed' category where almost everything else isn't. General Discussion wasn't good either, mind you. I'd call it simply 'Speculation' and leave it at that. There is nothing good or bad about speculation - it just is.

2)Scuttlebutt, however, can have negative connotations. I just wouldn't have it, if it were up to me.

3)Other forums don't need it - specifically Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, maybe Mass Effect 3 (though I'd wait until forums for the next game are set up). There's no point. What speculation? What rumors? What scuttlebutt?

It's totally fine for Dragon Age: Inquisition though, and Mass Effect 3 for now.

4)"The Lobby" has absolutely no point either. It's Off-Topic. We know what it is. You even had to keep it in the name. Ditch the lingo and call it what it is, lol.

Typically the BSN would not convert my text emoticons into actual emoticons.

I just used the Emoticon pallete. At least that made the transition. <_<

I remember hearing this word for the first time on ME1, wondered who is this 'scuttlebutt?!' not a word generally used here in the UK as far as I'm aware.

Yeah it sounds odd, leaning towards the negative zone for us who aren't navy.

Weird place to put culture specific slang. Still it's where all the posts are which kinda gave the game away even if the name a bit opaque.
