A complaint that I and quite a few regular BSN'ers BWF'ers have is the ultra-white background change making forums harder to read or straining on the eyes. Here's a few solutions I've found:

1. Turn off your bedroom lights (joke).
2. Google Color Change (free extension). This will allow you to change the color theme for a particular page or domain (e.g. "forum.bioware.com").

3. Color That Site! (Firefox free extension) - credit Staub33

Read here for more Chrome and Firefox extension options: http://lifehacker.co...eading-at-night

If you'd like help on how to use the extension or finding an extension plug-in for your browser then drop a comment. If you have other recommendations post as well. I haven't been able to locate a good editor for IE or Safari (for Windows) yet, but I'm still looking.

BW has already acknowledged the complaints with plans to resolve (no timeline).

Thanks

UPDATE:
Thanks to Ruggly for pointing out this user-script. Credit to Screwball8 for making the script. http://userscripts.o...pts/show/398825

I tested out this user-script on TamperMonkey for Chrome, NinjaKit for Safari, and GreaseMonkey for Firefox. They all work. If you're using Internet Explorer, then I'm afraid I couldn't find an option for you. Trixie for IE has since been unsupported. If you need to use the script for Opera then read this
Note: I wasn't keen on the author editting the background image line or the light grey text on darker grey background. My own personal opinion. If you want to keep your original background image or place your own then edit the following line prior to installing:
body {font-size:13px;background-image:url(http://lvlt.bioware...._background.jpg);}"

Update: 04.02.2014
I just read an update post by ArgentN7 that BW has added a new theme to address the 'white noise'.    In the bottom left corner of the forum there is a CHANGE THEME option (scroll all the way down). Select that, then select "Bioware Dark (beta)". It should change the foreground to mid-grey/white text. I still prefer the darker grey that I was able to get from the extensions in this post. However this is good news for those of you who are waiting to have this resolved. Happy gaming.

Damnit I thought this was official help when I saw the lightning. Yeah I'm not sure if it's just hard to read but everything about it's just extreme unappealing and un user friendly. I was already on the verge of this, but goodbye forever forums.

I understand our BioWare Forum overlords are working on a "darker" theme.

So BioWare makes even their forum darker and grittier now, aye?

I sense a trend here.

Thanks! It seems to be a new trend on many internet forums that improvements mean being blinded by whiteness...

It really is sad to see.

White isn't the enemy. White space isn't the enemy. But this.. this kind of mistake should be taught to every single web/graphic design rookie as what not to do.

Otherwise for the most part, the design is ace :)

They've been teaching color complements (do's/dont's) in webpage and desktop publishing since the 90's. My professor had light-on-light, dark-on-dark, and overuse of animated images on his 'automatic F's' list he passed out.

Ok I knew that. My wording was more for emphasis of point :P

(I don't have much experience but bf does some web design)

Thanks for the update Stan.Could they perhaps include additional theme options such as changing font style size/color and/or number of posts per page? This newer forum system is bulkier than the last and requires extra scrolling to read. I attempted to mod the domain with a user-defined CSS file but it didn't turn out so well. thanks.

Until Bioware offers some options, Firefox also has an add-on (Color That Site!) much like Google Color Change:

Good find Staub33. I tested out a few other add-ins such as Stylish and Greasemonkey but there weren't as user-friendly. I'll add this to OT.

Thanks for this, OP.

This will do nicely until the Bioware done theme drops.

+1 "like" for this. I use Stylish for things like this typically, but this add-on is a whole lot simpler to use.

Yes, a dark grey would be nice.  Should help the backgrounds stand out a bit more.
