Orrrr at least games you have a certain gripe with that you would have been able to ignore if Bioware had never existed.  :P

One that comes to mind at the moment is Dragon's Dogma. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that game to bits. However I always think how much better it could have been if it had a more engaging story like Dragon Age, or companions who actually had fleshed out personalities. My pawns' constant babbles aren't nearly as entertaining as the random commentary from my DA party!

Erm, a whole lot of them, actually. Mainly because I don't feel half as immersed as I used to in them. If I'm going to be specific, maybe the Crackdown series, because 2 would have been awesome if it had had a story which made sense and was consistent (following on 1's ending) instead of lazily chucking zombies at us.  :(

Hmm another one for me might be... ahh you know any game without companions. I quite enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur but then... I felt my PC was just so... LONELY! Ha!

Almost all of them, but specifically? Fallout, Bioshock, and my JRPGs

I want to interact, and I feel like there are no games that give me the level of immersion with the characters like Bioware

Completely agree. Give Dragon's Dogma a great story, good writing and good characters and we will no longer have a great game in our hands but an amazing one. I found the only flaw holding DD back was its lack of quality writing (that and the one character save system). Hopefully we can expect an improvement in the sequel. I felt as if the cut scenes were vastly underused too. I loved how they perfectly incorporated your character into them, probably the best thing about the bizarre plot.

Seriously if there's ever a game that's Dragon's Dogma in gameplay but Dragon Age: Origins in terms of characters, world and story, I'd play the hell out of it.

Tom Clancy games. Most of them suck now and barely even resemble what they used to be. Seriously, Splinter Cell became 24 combined with Bourne and what's worse is that Sam Fisher gets younger every game. Multiplayer sucks now, kill streaks, overpowered spies and crappy mercenaries. What was once the competition to Halo is now nothing more than a cheap, crappy action game.

I agree. However, I have also put 563 hours and 27 minutes into Dragon's Dogma. I don't think I can say the game was "ruined" for me.

Total War with Rome 2. CA needs a big fat slap for this.

X series, X3 where good however with X rebirth which was bad no that an understatement, it was ! sry no words could explain how bad it was.

Thief, just watching what the series have become is sad indeed.

Bioshock, Infinite was boring junk.

Max Payne, thx Rockstar for destroying the series with a sh!tty story and character portrayal that's so far from the character as possible, also dem cutscenes just horrible.

Arkham Serie, Origins was not made by Rocksteady but it's the same serie, buggy forgeable mess and idiotic studio that ignores gamebreaking bugs for dlc, i'm done.

Diablo, pls don't ask but D3 is ! i can't continue.

Starcraft, from good to ****.

Zeno Clash, 2 had terrible FoV, terrible gameplay well it was worse in every way.

Resident Evil, everything after 4 is crap.

Gothic got ruined with third installment

Xcom. enemy unknown/within, simplified to hell and back.

Should i take up more since i can make this crap list a LOT longer ? but i just get angry.

Heores of Might and Magic with Heroes VI (But I like how they handled Might and Magic X.)

Total War with Rome 2. (The issues are too much and I didn't get the game)

Sim City 5 (problematic, buggy, imbalanced... didn't get it)

The MMOs based on popular RPGs.

I'm forgiving and if the devs and/or publishers of these games change I'll certainly give the next installments a try. (after observing the trusted reviews!)

Skyrim  :pinched:  I can get married! ... to an automaton. In fact... the whole world is made up of automatons. Oh, well, there are one or two interesting persons. But I honestly can't find anyone for my character to actually care about. I mean, I'm not even sure I care about my character. Hawke he is not. Shepard he is not. Well, he doesn't say a word, but even the Warden he is not. Plus... he's kind of ugly.  =]

Gears of War: Judgement ruined the franchise for me. They ruined the essence of what made Gear of War's multiplayer great and the campaign was uninspired at best. People Can Fly/Post GoW3 team EPIC just didn't have what it took to carry the torch and it shows.

Halo was always an twitchy, "impulse" shooter, that hasn't changed. The campaigns, however, have become notably less fun. Just painful tbh.

I used to love Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.   :crying: I haven't touched Splinter Cell since Double Agent.

I mentioned Halo because when Chaos Theory came out back then, it used to complete for the top ten most played XBL games and probably with others on other platforms too. I haven't played them since Double Agent either, and the only version of Double Agent that anyone would get me to play would be the old gen version, which is superior in every way, at least in SP, too bad it doesn't exist for PC, otherwise I would have bought it. The other version just sucks, gameplay is bad, the story has plotholes everywhere and the game is buggy as crap.

YES! Skyrim was absolutely ruined for me.... Even games like Dragon's Dogma, which I was more critical of because of Bioware, I ended up really enjoying. But Skyrim? The way people always go on about it and even compare DAI to it makes it sound like this amazing, epic adventure... but it's just not, at least not for me. After a few hours of not caring about my own character, my one companion, or any other NPCs, I called it quits.

Warcraft(WOW post Cat), Final Fantasy(everything after 9). Metroid(Other M) Diablo(Diablo 3) Resident Evil(five and on) That's just the top of my head. Fallout would have made this list, but NV came out and it made up for that disaster called FO3.

I sure that I have a lot of games to add to the list but for now I can only think of the following:

Final Fantasy - after FFX-2, FFXII and FFXIII my love for this franchise has taken a severe beating and no longer feel any love or enthusiasm for the franchise.

Metal Gear Solid - MGS2 made this franchises storyline a lot more confusing than it should have been. I remember playing MGS4 and enjoying the gameplay but I just could not get into the storyline at all. Kogima pretty much ruined Solid Snake, no wonder he much rather make games about Big Boss now.

Resident Evil - this franchise peaked with Resident Evil 2. Resident Evil: Code Veronica hade best storyline and Resident Evil 4 had the best gameplay but the franchise has been awful for quite some time now.

Halo - okay, maybe Halo does deserve vie to be on this list but for some reason Halo was not as fun to play through as it's predecessors. I blame this on the new bad guys the Promethian Knights. Fighting them got very old very fast. Otherwise I loved the new weapons, and the storyline. I just fear 343 Studios is not as good at making games as Bungie, they forgot yo make Halo a fun gaming experience.

JRPGS. I'd been out of gaming for a while until I got a Xbox360 a few years ago and played the crap out of Bioware and Elder Scrolls games. Looking to find another source of rpg goodness, I turned my attention to JRPGS expecting them to function/play exactly like western rpgs. I grabbed Tales of Vesperia and was instantly put off. Things like not being able to see equipped items/gear, quirky companions, odd combat mechanics as well as a myriad of other little things caused me to trade in the game and completely disregard the entire JRPG genre.

This was, of course, all my fault due to my epic cluelessness in regards to the genre. :pinched:

I've since seen the err of my ways and recenlty finished Ni No Kuni (first JRPG I've ever finished) and am about to give Vesperia another go as well as looking forward to the Final Fantasy X HD remake for the ps3 when it comes out.

Max Payne - 3 had too many cutscenes and a sh*t story. Also Max was made into an old geezer with a death wish who kept on complaining and that ruined his character for me since he used to be a cool sarcastic detective.

Skyrim - Lifeless world, NPC's that have the personalities of stone bricks, choices don't mean squat, paper-thin and forgettable story.

Resident Evil - it all went to hell since 5.

BioShock -  Infinite's story and the ending are not really that great and the combat is just terrible. Still, not a bad game, just disappointing.

Arkham Origins - Lazy cash-in. The buildings were copy/pasted from Arkham City and made to be restrictive so you grapple only to certain points, which limit freedom, most boss fights sucked. Also bugs.

Alan Wake - While the story, characters and the music are pretty much the only good points of the game everything else is garbage. Same environments (basically 3 locations - town, sawmill and forest - copy/pasted over and over with the bridge or lighthouse being reserved for only certain levels), weird facial animations that made characters look like fish gasping for air when they were talking, hectic combat, the camera zooms out and shows enemies going after you when they appear (thus destroying any kind of element of surprise or horror atmosphere), overall the game feels extremely repetitive and linear. So many people said good things about it, but I was very disappointed after playing it.

Devil May Cry 5(the reboot).

While the gameplay was awesome, especially the Vergil's Downfall dlc, the story and characters were so terrible. Rebooted Dante looks like a complete bumm with black hair all of a sudden and Vergil looks like a boygroup member, wears a damn fedora and uses guns(he originally despised guns and always used his sword). They also turn Vergil into a complete wussy and make him weaker than Dante all of a sudden, although he was originally portrayed as being a better fighter. I hope Ninja Theory doesn't make a sequel to this.

While I do enjoy Skyrim for what it does do well - open world exploration, great mod community, decent combat and crafting... Bioware games really put a spotlight on the things it does not do well - interaction with engaging characters, relationships, etc.

That works both ways though - Skyrim shows just how little freedom you've got in BioWare games. To a degree they are mutually exclusive, although IMO both could do better in their weak areas. I love both though (when they work), story and character interaction is great, open world really makes the thing so much more immersive. And at least Skyrim's characters, whilst not having anywhere near enough to stay, don't stay rooted on the spot or walking around in circles.

Back on the subject, I wouldn't say "ruined" but the Elite sequels never managed to recapture the impact of the original.
