Probably Dark Souls cause it's so bloody cruel. I enjoyed it up to a point but I suck too much at it and trying to play it anymore just makes me depressed.

That works both ways though - Skyrim shows just how little freedom you've got in BioWare games. To a degree they are mutually exclusive, although IMO both could do better in their weak areas. I love both though (when they work), story and character interaction is great, open world really makes the thing so much more immersive. And at least Skyrim's characters, whilst not having anywhere near enough to stay, don't stay rooted on the spot or walking around in circles.

That's why Fallout: New Vegas is so awesome. It combines what Skyrim and the Bioware games do well. Even exceeds either in their specializations in many cases.

Metal Gear Solid - Unlike what Razio said I thought MGS2 was one of the best in the franchise, next to Snake Eater - What really ruined the franchise was Guns of the Patriots. The immense hamhandedness of the game's streamlined stealth and focus on action. Not to mention how pathetic the game ties up its loose ends - Basically handwaving it all. MGS V is basically continuing down this path.

Silent Hill - Shift in development from East to West can do terrible things to a franchise. The western developers couldn't have missed the point more if they had fired in a different direction, and the point was in another country altogether.

Hitman - Basically the same problem with Metal Gear

Resident Evil - Shinji Mikami managed to set a series events in motion, which would result in Resident Evil's downfall by making RE4.

Almost all of them, but specifically? Fallout, Bioshock, and my JRPGs
I want to interact, and I feel like there are no games that give me the level of immersion with the characters like Bioware

My feelings exactly. I was used to feeling like an observer to the game's story before, but then I started really getting into Bioware and... Not so much anymore.

I'll probably get some flak for this, but I'd go with Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger. Seeing as I did play the subsequent games, it didn't exactly ruin the franchise for me, but WC3 was to my mind easily the weakest of any of the games. Between the horrific load times, some blocky and unappealing ship designs (the Longbow? Seriously? And how does the Confederacy overhaul their entire inventory of fighters between every game?) and the whole betrayal subplot (without spoiling anything, the betrayal in this game might be my single least favorite plot development in any game ever), WC3 just fell way short of what came both before and after it..

Warcraft.. Cataclysm and later has completely butchered any interest i had left. Such a shame since i used to really love Warcraft.

Total War: Rome 2.. there are no words in this universe that can properly describe how that game massacred my interest. The original Rome is still my favorite total war game but now i can't even muster up any care at all for further titles from CA, such a bloody disaster!

Diablo.. it's self-explained really. Diablo 3 was goddamn awful

Hitman.. It was not the longest relationship i had with a franchise but it got assassinated brutally. Absolution was the first game in years that i did not complete and i've not bothered giving it a second try

Assassin's creed 3 has been ruined for me thanks to, ironically, assassin's creed black flag. I hadn't minded much of the design points and missions of assassin's creed 3. But after playing black flag and having a more enjoyable story with more entertaining integrations of history and characters, it made 3 seem like a really, really, big step backwards. Even in terms of just my character's face, assassin's creed black flag beat it because the main character for 3 always looked pissed off even when just standing around doing nothing (probably cause he can't climb buildings without instantly being shot).

The Sims series was ruined by The Sims 3 for me. Ugly pudding faces that all looked the same, and EA shamelessly milking it dry with microtransactions and disgusting stufpacks like that Katy Perry monstrosity.

The Elder Scrolls Online

I'm sure some perceive it as petty, but all the costs that pile up just to play the game plus the shameless business practice with the Imperial Edition have turned me off to the game completely. No amount of cool CG trailers will change my thoughts on that.

Never cared for the Bioshock series, but I find it surprising that a few posters here mentioned it. I thought it was one of those "OMG best game evah!" kinda game.

I've not even completed it. Crashes and corrupted saves had something to do with that but I just didn't find the setting very appealing (although I did like wandering around with the radio on). I don't think it manages to do what BioWare can do with characters, although made a much better job of trying to do that than Skyrim did and has made the best attempt that I've seen of giving more depth in an open(ish) world. I say open(ish) because it seemed to be trying very hard to encourage you along a certain route. I died a lot at first until I gave up wandering around and mostly started following the plot.

I did just fine before Bioware existed and I do just fine now. While Bioware does add typically deeper characters to the mix, not all of them are enjoyable or desirable so it's a toss-up. For example, they've yet to put a romanceable character into the DA universe that I actually care about, and most times I prefer having a dog companion, or at least someone who doesn't complain at every little thing I do or say.

In fact, thanks to Bioware I'm more appreciative of other developers, like CDProjekt, Bethesda, Obsidian, and Larian Studios.

I'm losing patience with Deadly Premonition. While I might not be able to replicate the main character's bats*** weirdness if given more dialogue choices, I'm finding it frustratingly non-interactive at times. It seems like the key scenes are at least 90% predetermined and my only role is to move to the right location at the right time to trigger them. And the controls in the action scenes are really clunky. I'll stick with it a little longer to see if that changes, though - I've only gotten through Chapter 1 and a little bit of Chapter 2.

I don't know about that. I'd say F:NV is absolutely on par with anything Bioware does in terms of the characters.
