GPSMG is not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

True, but as a secondary on an Infiltrator, it is a terrible choice.

1. An infiltrator needs only one gun.

2. GPSMG has a REALLY slow rev up time that bothers me.

GPSMG is not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

It really is.

Ramp up weapons are always a bad choice on caster classes.  It doesn't do enough damage to be worth using over most guns on weapons classes.

While it deals somewhat okay damage on a weapons class, it is pointless on such because of the plethora of better options which deal twice as much damage.  While it has a nice weight for a caster class, it is pointless on such because the ramp up stops you from using powers.

And secondary weapons are essentially useless in this game, unless you're soloing.  If you aren't you should never run out of ammo.  The acolyte is basically the only gun worth having a secondary with (or i suppose the harrier on condor platinum).  With anything else the way too damn long weapon switch animation makes taking a secondary pointless

Sniper is all I need on my infiltrators. Besides, GPSMG is weaker han a bb gun. The only aplication would be to prime with ammo.

Turian Soldier disagrees.

I agree that it is a perfectly capable weapon on a Turian Soldier, but that's because of the quality of the character not the weapon,

relatively speaking it's still a bad choice.

It's this spring's latest fashion trend. No hip should go without one! Much posh.

It is no UR, but it is far from a bad choice if you don't have those as an option. I would take the Geth SMG over say the Hornet or Locust personally on most kits. Sure the ramp up can be a bit of a pain, but once it gets going it isn't horrible by any means and I would likely empty at least most of the ammo before using a power again and reload right before the cast.

I agree with Jimmy on this! And I actually used to like the GPSMG on my GI, killed things really really fast actually.

Really? I would never choose the GPSMG over either of them on any character.

I've always felt the Locust outclasses it in pretty much every way that actually matters, the Hornet I can understand as it can be

a bit a pain to use at times, but I still love it anyway

I play infiltrator ~90% of the time and I would never take the GPSMG as a secondary. Occasionally I'll take the CSMG w/ ULM and Xmag. On CQ maps, I just use the Indra. GI indra is actually my favorite class for glacier and goddess

Thank God I'll never have the misfortune of playing with the OP if he/she never plays with anyone without a backup weapon.

I notice, that many forumites like the option to change name.

But,back to the topic.Secondary ok,but why in the heaven´s name GSMG?It is PoS.

My favorite secondary for the Jav is the Scorpion.

That sounds like a mistake on your part.

Second weapons are for scrubs.

None of my infiltrators ever carry a secondary. Multiple enemies = multiple simultaneous headshots.

It's as true as it was when Tech Armor Turian said it in 2186.

GriM_AoD has done wonderful things with the GPSMG Hsol...

and I'm glad people chimed in here to set OP straight about cooldowns on Infiltrators not being an absolute necessity

Sounds like the person you played with either sucked or didn't know how to use the javelin, or maybe both.
I'm no pro, and I've got no problem just taking a snipe rifle, as a matter of fact I almost never take two weapons. I'm also not sure why I would switch from a weapon with the highest burst DPS in the game to a weapon that would take half an hour to kill a banshee.
The solution to that players problem is not to pull out another weapon it's to get the f out of there, or better yet not to get surrounded in the first place.

Meh... don't need a secondary usually OP but I do usually bring a scorpion just cuz cooldowns dont matter and cloak/proxy/scorpion makes quick work of a multi phantom/dragoon hit squad bum rushing straight at you.

And TSol can make the GPSMG sing ;)  Outside of the TSol though I really dont use it there are just say too many better options.

I carry two primaries on some infiltrators, mainly the GI. Why? Because once I get 75 pistol kills what the hell medal am I going to push for? So I swap to the Harrier or Hurricane, etc and try to get 25 to 50 kills with it.

The guy you played with basically sucked.

I had no problem completing several solos with only a sniper rifle.
