The more the merrier for me - if all Thedas is under threat from the veil tears and we're going to be roaming across multiple countries, it makes sense that the heroes of previous games would get involved somewhere.

I've got a preference for characters who have only appeared in one game, though. Give Shale, Loghain, Sigrun, Velanna, Anora, any surviving twin, Aveline, Fenris, Sebastian or Feynriel some more time in the spotlight.

It's a total pipe dream, but it would make my life if, during a possible visit to a Grey Warden stronghold, we could see cameos of all the characters in past games who we made into Wardens. Alistair/Loghain, Oghren, Nathaniel, Sigrun, Bethany/Carver, etc.

Probably never going to happen as there are too many variables, but I'd be over the moon if something like this ever happened.

I'm actually rather leery of cameos by former party members, and as a general statement would prefer not to see them. The more involved they are likely to be with the former PCs, the stronger this feeling is for me (Sten, for instance, always goes off somewhere else and I would be interested to see him again -- conversely, people like Zevran and all of the potential romances of DA II are much more likely to supposedly be where the PC is at the end of the game, so I'd rather not see them). Perhaps it's because I have a deep dread of ever encountering a former PC in a situation where they are not a PC, and in some way I equate running into more PC-tied former NPCs as making that possibility more likely. I don't know.

On the other hand, if our adventures take us to any locals that were visited in previous games, I'd love to see some of the same NPCs there if it makes sense. That would give a nice sense of consistency, and it would be interesting to see how they'd changed since the last time and such.

I'm hoping that the Inquisitor will randomly run into Hawke's love interest as they are looking for Hawke. It'd be nice to see that they're ya know, concerned about Hawke's disappearence, and also it'd be a great chance for some banter with Varric if he is in the party. (And if Cassandra is there she could ask the LI about some event that Varric told her about in da2 and the LI can say 'what, that never happened?" prompting more fun Varric exaggerating the truth banter with her...)

Beyond that:

-Sebastian: He threatens to invade Kirkwall if you don't kill Anders. I'd like to see him follow through on that in some form in the next game, or he had tried to follow through only for it to end disasterously. I just don't want Sebastians MASSIVE threat at the end of the game to go completely ignored.

-Aveline: She is either Guard Captain of Kirkwall or she may have returned to Fereldan and become an officer in the army. Both outcomes could provide a decent enough reason to interact with her.

-Hawke's sibling if they are a Warden. If not...no thanks.

-The Friends of Red Jenny. I want answers.

-Feynriel-given that he can interact with the Fade in unique ways he seems like a potentially important asset if you kept him around.

-Warden/Hawke...I mainly want confirmation that they are alive, and that Hawke will get the chance to reunite with their love and go on with their life in (relative) peace. If they show up, I imagine they will be wearing helmets...anything else is just...too messy. If we do see the Warden I imagine it'll be with a group of other wardens (maybe some you know like Sigrun, Carver, or Alistair), and you see your warden off in the distance while you talk to one of the former companions who off handedly mentions that the Warden-Commander you see 'over there' is also the Hero of Fereldan.

I like the cameos in Dragon Age II: some major characters from Origin were in, others weren't. I think that Mass Effect went a little far with their cameos, and the galaxy does feel really small because of it (which Conrad Verner lampshades).

I would like to see short appearances by Shale and the Arishok (either the one from DA2 is he survived, or the new one). I think a meeting with the Arishok could be especially interesting if you play as a qunari inquisitor.

I want to see as few cameos as possible.  Keep it narrowed down to characters who actually have legitimate business being involved in the story.  I know it's great for fans to see their favorite characters one more time, but it sends the story down a meaningless path for the sake of nothing except fanservice.  I would prefer to introduce new characters that are more relevant to the story, instead of shoehorning pointless cameos and creating awkward plotlines.

I would like many cameos, but it would cost a lot of money and time to put them in the game. I don't think they want to spend that much money on things like that. It would be an idea, if there would be a crowdfunding to support the inclusion of previous characters. I stand by the ones in my older post, but I would like to add one more. Since the revealing of the Dragon age World trailer, and seeing the location of a thaig (whether it would be Orzammar or kal-sharok) it would be fun that if you would have a Dwarven noble with a son in DA:O, that you might meet the Dwarven noble son. He would be about ten years old I would think. (Though when I write this, I doubt they will include dwarven children. Haven't seen one before.)

I really hope we see them regardless. I really liked Carver. A lot. Way more than I was supposed to probably. He may act like a total jerk, but I could tell it's just because he loved his family <3. Seeing a sibling seems like a good way to learn about Hawke in a way that didn't force us to meet the champion in an NPC'S scenario.

I wouldn't mind Wade and Herren (especially if I could purchase a wonderful super weapon from them)

I would love to see something from the Mass Effect universe. Just like there was a Dragon Age statue of an Ogre in the assassin DLC for Mass Effect 2. That is something I like about Brandon Sanderson. He ties all of his worlds together.

And Batman of course. Why? Why not.

I still want a return of Bethany. I honestly don't mind cameos as long as they are done right. Story and great characters are what counts.

None. I dislike cameos. If there's no good reason for someone to show up, they shouldn't show up.

I rarely kill my companions off because I want to learn what they have been up too.  I think I've only killed Anders for his pie in the sky moment.

As long as they have a reason to be there and their story adds to the current story then I'm good.  I'm just as happy with an NPC making mention of them or a codex entry on what they have been doing.

I do want to see the Monarch of Ferelden for sure.

1. Rhys, Evangeline, and Fiona. All of this happens during the War anyway, so making these characters appear won't be too hard.

2. Hawke travelling with his/her LI. DA2 does state that the LI stays with Hawke and they both disappear.

3. Warden. First protagonist of the series. I hope he shows up.

4. Anders. I'm assuming a lot of people want this guy dead or captured. It's only reasonable to assume that the Inquisitor will want to find him

Loghain, since he lived through my playthrough. He was stationed in Orlais so I at least hope for a cameo.

Sigrun, 'nuf said.

And even though I didn't really like her, I'm curious on how Velanna is doing.

Oh, Dagna! How could I forget her?? I saw that screenshot of her name from the PAX demo and got super excited. I would love to see her, she was adorable. I imagine, if in Inquisition, she will be adorably formidable.

As much as I don't want cameos, this is something I'd really interested in seeing. Can't remember how far ahead Inquisition is going to be set from the whole 'chantry boom' but I'd love to see this permeate throughout the game, or at the very least, they give us some insight as to what went on with Starkhaven following the Krikwall incident and it's not just completely whitewashed.

Things that would make me die of happy: Dagna being in Inquisition and somehow get her and Varric get together. I don't know an actual good reason, they're just two awesome dwarves.

The Messenger from DA:A, if the player spared him.

I know that the Architect or Corypheus are the first Darkspawn characters that jump to mind for a lot of players, but they aren't truly Darkspawn in the sense that they are both 'special' Darkspawn characters. They have the benefit of being pivotal to the plot of their expansion/DLC, and so they are afforded the status of 'uber' Darkspawn. I would like to see the 'face' of the regular Awoken, to see what a normal Darkspawn, with the capability of independent thought, has been up to since the ending of Awakening.

Plus, unlike the Architect and Corypheus, the Messenger seemed to be genuinely interested in helping out the player; not hiding ulterior motives, or trying to posses people.

Pretty much this.
