So in my introduction video I say "you'll either be playing the part of the villager or the sene... the other one" but you're right the legal rules are a bit vague (probably for legal reasons lol). The original intention is one script as in the introduction video that we made, however I doubt Caroline is going to rule someone out she finds enchanting because they submitted two scripts. I also don't think that someone submitting two scripts is going to tip the scales either. They're very different reads. Best not to overwhelm the person judging you, in my opinion
What I have seen professional voice artists do on reels and in the booth that I think is perfectly fine in this situation is to submit more than one take of *one* script. So while still following the directions you are given on the script (don't deviate like previous posters have already mentioned), it's fine to submit a video/audio clip where perhaps you put emotion into different lines or you emphasize words differently, or you change your tone enough that it makes a difference without completely making a caricature out of yourself. Remember, Caroline is interested in your speech patterns not how good you can mimic someone else's (though if you are 100% confident that's the direction you want to take it, go for it! Have fun!!).
And for those people who say you don't have the stuff to record, like someone mentioned, Audacity is free to download and I've recorded loads of things using my laptop's webcam microphone. An easy way to get good sound from a pretty awful mic is to cover yourself and the mic with a nice thick blanket and record in your newly made blanket fort for one. I learned that trick from Jennifer Hale. That's what she does when she has to record in a hotel or something.
Lastly, for those of you who are nervous, do it for fun and don't submit if you don't want to. Just share with your friends and try something new. Maybe as the end of the contest gets nearer you'll change your mind and submit it!
For those people who are ineligible this time, we're working with our other territories on initiatives. We're a global brand and I always hate when people feel excluded. I really hope you enjoy listening to your fellow players' entries and cheering them on though - we'll work on getting equally cool stuff down the line for you guys
