Dang, this one is good. I wish I was British. Extreme accent envy.

Good effort, I don't know if this is your final one but you're definitely on the right track
Thanks for the encouragement ![]()
No problem. I'm ineligible, so I might as well support the ones that do have the chance to become part of a franchise they love

Definitely not going to be me. I tried preforming the script only to realize just how terrible I am at script reading. Even funnier, this wierd Zevran like accent kept appearing out of nowhere
. Good luck to who ever can pull any of those off
.
I keep thinking of this guy for the Seneschal. Only if I could pull of something close to that
.

You too?
The Zevran accent started cropping up when I was reading script 2.
GamerMD83 did a pretty good job on an Orlesian accent I have to say, especially for an American.
I can tell she put a lot of effort into it. Its a little all over the place, but I'm one to talk: My "british" accent wanders all over the isles and ends up in Australia.
Read the script today and recorded myself reading it...Not very impressive ![]()
I still want to be a templar though.
For the Glory of the Maker the Heretics must die!
o-o
You know for everyone who thinks they can't participate cause they have no voice recording program, Audacity is a completely free software to save recordings. All you need is a mic

If I go for British I start in Ireland, find my way to Chicago, down to New Zealand, up to Scotland and finish in Australia. :\

What sort of British accent? There are a lot of them

One that sounds vaguely like its British.
I wish I was allowed more than one entry. I have a heavy rural drawl that I usually hide because its hard to close sales when you sound like you're pulled from South Park. I'd love to send that in, and love it even more if it won because it'd be so hilariously out of place that it would be perfect in Orlais.
Out of curiosity, could we do both and submit them in one go? Or is it strictly "Do one and only one, pick your poison?".
From what I can see in the rules, it's not very specific on that front. But I may have missed it.
As I understand it, we only read one script. However, I've asked that question myself and got no clarification.
Tried the script myself, and recorded it (even though I live in Europe and can't participate). It really sounds weird hearing yourself speak, especially when your voice is lower than you yourself hear.
But what I find a shame, is that the community doesn't have a vote. It would be fun if the judges would pick out a couple of voices they would think were good, and let the community vote on the one that they like.

In the rules though the winner will be decided on if it fits with the Dragon Age style. I don't know if my voice fits in well with the style, it's so high and all the actors do voices that are quite a bit lower than mine XD.
Still, you can only do your best.
Listening to some of the entries people have already made, I think it's good to keep the script directions in mind when recording. There's a fair bit of a difference between "bitter/deeply hurt" and actually sobbing.
It sounds like the voiceover people (like Caroline Livingstone) are fairly specific in their direction, and it'd be kind of a shame if really good entries were ruled out because the performance doesn't sound like the tone that the writers/VO directors wrote on the scripts.
Edit: holy new forum font changes, batman
I'm having trouble with that, I'm never sure if I should sound more angry or sad when reading the first script.Listening to some of the entries people have already made, I think it's good to keep the script directions in mind when recording. Yeah I recorded something as a practice and had trouble too. Looking at the other directions for the first script it sounds like a sort of exasperated sadness, with some cynicism and bitterness thrown in towards the Inquisitor.
But it's hard to read some of those lines without making it angry, or indignant (or maybe heartbroken, like some of those YouTube videos did) - which I don't think is quite what the script was going for.
What I want to do is submit two readings of the second script, one with my more normal voice and another with my attempt at an ostentatious Orlesian accent. Would this be definitely not allowed?
Am curious how many people had a YouTube account before this and this is actually the first video that they posted on there accounts?

Atleast One, once I've put mine up.
