What makes you think we are fighting demons and not Shadows?
Because we see the MC and gang fighting two sandmans and a pyro Jack.

Didn't notice that in the trailer - Can you screencap that? Also, given that those are acquired as Personas in the other games they are most likely just Shadows in this game, probably a different type.. Like how you face

Also, given that those are acquired as Personas in the other games they are most likely just Shadows in this game, probably different type then. This is because I refuse to believe that the concept of demons is brought back because it doesn't sit right with the Jungian stuff and how modern Persona seems to be rolling away from SMT.

Some Sandman and a Pyro Jack, just for you.

Alright, I see them now. I don't believe they are demons in this game, just a different type of Shadows.. demons are a thing of the past now. But this could indicate a similar way of gaining new Personas as that of Persona 2.. though they are still Shadows.

If they talk or show intelligence then they are demons or humans turned into demons(demons in P2). Simple shadows don't have intelligence, they are simply wild creatures that do nothing but attack only high shadows like a persons shadow or the guardians Q show intelligence.

The guardians were also Shadows though along with the FOEs. Teddie shows intelligence and he's also a Shadow I'll remind you.

The guardians where also driven by a desire to reform and where all parts of a powerful entity and Teddie is also an extremely unique shadow. Simple shadows though do nothing but walk around and attack, a simple demon though can read, operate stores, use a train ect. While shadows CAN do that, the only shadows that can are typically ones we fight as bosses.
That is why I hope we get more details, if they just act like simple shadows then that's disappointing as it's simply a reskin. If demons are going to be involved, they should act like a demon then, just reskining them as demons like Pyro and then saying it's a shadow is pretty lame imo.

Actually it was established that Teddie wasn't very unique, he was simply a Shadow.. The fact that I'm thinking that the Sandmen are Shadows in this game is because.. well first of all, Persona 2 is a thing of the past.. the only thing Atlus cares about in regards to that game is using it as a makeshift frisbee or reminding you how much they don't care about it anymore ![]()
But one of the most important parts, also in reference to Teddie, is that Shadows are suppressed desires and emotions given form, born from the Ego, within the collective unconciousness -- They aren't necessarily wild-mindless creatures given they are born from the desires of humans. According to Jung, Shadows are monsters that would take shape in form of legends and myths, patients would describe similar patterns that refer to myths, hence Sandman "being a myth of a man who visits people during their sleep to grant them comfortable dreams etc". It makes sense that Shadows come in all shapes and forms. Heck, you even mentioned it in your first paragraph, like "simple shadows", they come in all different types. The Personas you use in combat are also Shadows.
Q takes a short time to explain that FOEs are essentially powerful shadows but it doesn't say anything more than that.. in the context of Persona they are Shadows, but they are basically just enemies taken from the Etrian Odyssey games.. and there's not a lot of lore behind them beyond that.
The Guardians all reflect the Labyrinths, which in turn are born from Rei's psyche, one of them being literally her own Shadow as well.
In other words, Shadows are the essential enemy in modern Persona -- The concept of demons adhere solely to Megami Tensei now.

Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I'm going to be taking a shot in the dark and say that shadows can take the form of anything, from lion-motorcycle things to mecha. Who's to say they couldn't replicate demons and myths like mainline SMT enemies?
Edit: Wait, you already said that...
I sure hope to Philemon that, if they are demons, demon negotiation doesn't make a return.
I highly doubt we're going back to negotiation with demons for cards to buy personas like in P2. There's no way Atlus would remove fusions.

Or they could breed a diabolical hybrid. I dunno, just paranoia after having all of my money stolen from negotiations in SMT4.
On another note, has it been confirmed or not if the team personas (Persona? Personae?) will follow a certain mythology like Greco-Roman or Shinto? Personally, I'd like Gaelic/Celtic.
Unknown at this time, P3 was heavily greek with P4 heavly Shinto.
I'm hoping for Norse personally.

SMT IV has the most forgiving negotiations by far as far as I know. It's REALLY easy.

The Fox shall return in P5 and steal all yo yens.
That fox should be able to buy a continent at this point.

Norse seems like a good bet, if only because I'd like to see them get redesigned, lol. The Welsh bunch might be interesting too.
Lettuce be honest though, Tamrielic Gods would be best.
I really do want some more Greek Gods.. I'd want some of the Titans or Hades to return.
Azura or bust, buddy.

Ya, Norse would be great!
Something else I noticed during the trailer, though it could be a simple design choice. But did anyone else see how every npc that walks around has a lifeless look on their face? You don't see any eyes.
Now remember the scene where the train driver also had this lifeless look on his face? Maybe its gonne be a plot point that starts the entire game?

It's still pretty repetitive and lacks any rhyme or reason.

I'd love for Talos to be in it, just to mess with the knife-ears.
I recently picked up SMT IV as it was on sale on the E-Store here. Had to delete everything else on my SD card tho because of space, lol.
I only got up the party where the MC gets the gauntlet thingio and then got sidetracked.
I get sidetracked a lot.
Nocturnes trolololo negotiations are some of my most fondest memories.
