So many new and "new" things being mentioned there, will certainly be very interesting to see exactly how they work.

This reminds me -- I'd be a bit sad if the character potraits are gone now, but it looks like they are... I preferred the dialogue that way. :/
How the characters emotions were partially reflected in their portraits and on the models as well.

Many JRPG's are moving away from that. I kinda miss them too.

Like I said to CHris, I liek that the dungeons are no lnoger just "go walk around". Now of course these aspects could backfire so I hope Atlus implanted it good because dungeons having more life to them along with not being randomly generated anymore is a very good thing.

It's something both Fire Emblem and Persona share and I really like it.
In fact, in Persona's case, it's been there since the first game.

As long as the dungeons are more entertaining than Tartarus I'm cool.

I'm sure they couldn't make them worse than Tartarus if they tried.

Having it be character potraits can also save up a lot of resources for more dialogue, more social links ultimately.. hence why some weren't voiced like the NPC ones in the main games. That's how I prefer it. I did like how in Golden they had the Max social links with the party members be voiced.

Speaking of FE, did you get to best girl Severa yet?

I so hope this is the case but the same second I believe this.. they'll manage somehow

I'm not entirely sure but I feel Persona 5 may go for the cutscene meets visual novel mix. That's the only way I can really imagine them working. Sorta similar to late Atelier games.

Her characterization seem largely generic, but she doesn't annoy me or strike me as hollow as Marie for instance in Persona 4 Golden. In her case, she was largely shoe horned into the plot whereas this one isn't. I haven't finished her support links yet so we'll see how it goes. I don't find whole 'tsundere' trope to be engaging at all.

Yeah, you'll probably have an easier time empathizing with Severa's tsundereness compared to Marie. Don't forget to get other best girl Noire.

Lucina is my favorite amongst the female characters in the game, though I like Noire because of her backstory and how it has affected her.. it's even more interesting when it's Henry who is her father. It's taken a toll on her psyche and she's the pollar opposite of her mother, it's very interesting.

Confirmed we're only playing these games for the waifu:
"The Social Link system is the only thing that stands out about Persona 3/4 and it stands out because it's basically JUST a dating sim in an SMT game. The actual jRPG elements (dungeon crawl/combat system) in Persona are pale in comparison to the other SMT entries. Most of the people who prefer Persona over the other SMT entries, as games, are hardly playing for anything outside of the dating sim/pick your waifu element."

I love the shallow opinions of people who refer Persona as such -- It's not like the option to pursue relationships with these characters are optional in any shape or form. Going by that logic I guess SMT is just a combat simulator, because.. wait, there's a lot of COMBAT IN IT, and less dialogue.. Man, some people..

In fact, I do recall how.. when I was playing Persona Q, and thinking... wow, why is it that I'm not having a cup of tea with Naoto right now instead of all this dungeon crawling.. THIS IS NOT ENGAGING AT ALL! NOOOOOOOOOO

Lol yeah it's not like SMT and Persona go about tackling different sets of themes in their narratives or anything.

We clearly all played Persona 3 & 4 for that, instead of all those visual novels dedicated entirely to that prospect. Nevermind all those distractions like a good story, well written NPC characters to interact with, interesting and relate-able themes, engaging Persona fusion, music.. all of it just an obstacle to convince party B to take their top off.
