-MAH CABBAGES!!! Decided to be a huge nerd and study at home for once and completely forgot to harvest them! *sniff*

 

-Anyhow, having had the chance to more properly get to know Rise through her interactions and a few ranks in the SL, I've come to respect her a lot more as a character. While her SL seems to be more of a repeat on what she already went through, instead of having it focus on progression in a similar vein such as the other characters, I do like that it is a genuine and believable portrayal on self reflection. The game has already showcased several avenues in her dissolving from her persona Risette; using forms of association, abandoned display of emotions, identity, etc. as a means to convey it. While similar could be said for a lot of the other party members, considering how much the game revolves around the concept of coming in terms with yourself, I've found Rise's more relatable and meticulous in its approach (so far at least, I'm still only Rank 5 with her). I also like that she in a way subtly mirrors Yu's introduction to the game; meaning how she doesn't initially know anyone but quickly comes into contact with other people and how her Grandma views Rise as Tofu--something that is weak and fragile on its own, but can be mixed with almost anything and gets stronger for it, which is a funny but neat reflection on Narukami's role in the game. Similarities can be found with the other party members as well, and is more powerful depending on how you role play, but in my case Rise has fitted into the picture quite nicely. While I find the developments of the other party members more interesting, I do appreciate what Rise adds to the table.

 

- Visited Gekkoukan High. That was neat. Never expected to come that to happen. Admittedly I'd love to see more, but I was glad what I got. That part at Club Escapade was hilarious. Drunk Yuki and Rise was super cute. And of course this:

Yeah, loving the relationship and development with the Dojimas. Certainly one of the highlights for me.

 

- And Adachi you stupid! Stop making up excuses and spend time with meeeeeeeeh!!! November is closing in.

 

- Anyone else hate Marie social link? Ok hate is a strong word, but I'm currently Rank 8 with her and honestly I haven't found a reason to give a damn, which is funny since basically everyone else's SL I can relate to, or get something out of it. Only enjoyed Marie's so far since it has introduced the other characters into her link. Well maybe it pays of in the very end, but her's is currently the lowest ranked on my list (well her and the Day Care job, since I completely forgot about it and is still on Rank 2). 

 

- And since I want to complain more, and because I can; introduce Naoto already to the team. She looks interesting and I want her now!

Oh good, then I'm not alone when it comes to Marie.

Now I'm even more intrigued about Naoto. Arguably she has interested me the most since her initial introduction.

Marie is a garbage character, whose sole purpose was to fill in plot holes that didn't really need to be filled, in fact, I think it detracted a lot from what was already there, and she sure has a greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaat chemistry with the other characters, as in I hope she gets disolved in acid.

Do Naoto's link as quick as possible. Btw, it can't be unlocked unless your knowledge and Courage are top notch, there's a bit of a trick to getting it started.

Just witnessed Nanako's death. Damn, that whole scene certainly hit home for me. I teared up. Had the killer thrown into the TV. Naturally it wasn't the right choice nor did I view it as such, but I found it rather poetic the way I role played Narukami; wherein how he has up to this point always been the voice of reason and uplifting people to see things clearly, only to now when he himself was faced with something personal to him, lost control of his emotions and couldn't hear the voice of reason. Cool ending.

Well obviously I'm gonna load up the file and continue. Interested to see what the story has up for it.

That's one of those situations that prove just how invested one has gotten with the characters. I knew I cared and adored Nanako but chessus the scene did show me that I cared way more than I thought I did.

I never threw the bugger into TV but I've never wanted to pick a choice more and not do it than in that situation. Touch my precious Nanako and I'll ripe you a new hole to crap through.

Oh boy. That moment... Heaven for me is probably the best dungeon in the game in general but I was not expecting that sequence to go the way it did on my original choice. Had to put my controller down for a while and emotionally recuperate. It's honestly the main point I worry about as far as the anime adaptations go. I mean I know none of them would rightly adapt that situation (unless maybe they'd "rewind" so to speak) but that point ended up taking me by surprise and emotionally destroying me for a bit.

The game isn't being quite as forthright with how things play out, but it all suits the whole angle with the fog, whereas in Persona 3, things were more transparent and yet they weren't -- Accepting Death, yet not giving up on life, in Persona 4 it's about clear vision and always looking ahead, or one might as well live in a dense fog of ignorance, where everyone are cardboard-cut-out of each other, dressing up appropriately at the behest of society's whims. Do not falter is what the game wants the player to realize.

Nanako's scenario is engaging, and it's part where the sillyness stops for once which is good. It showcases a tight balance Persona 4 carries, where it manages both the grim and lighthearted content.
