Probably one of my favorite starters in a good long time.

Marie is such a trash character.
Why do you have such trash opinions though? Accept your goddess and savior.

Marie is just the typical generic tsundere, made for the sake of having a tsundere.

Yes. And it's great. Cause tsundere. What's next, you're gonna tell me Severa isn't the best character of the children generation in Awakening?

Severa does not feel like she was created for the sake of meeting a tsundere quota.

B-But tsundere, House! TSUNDERE! Nah, I understand what you mean though. Marie has no relevance and is shoehorned into the plot to be the based tsundere that she is.

Done with Arena's story.
Well I enjoyed it, for the most part. How it managed for the gameplay and narrative to work in tandem for a fighting game was rather well done, especially compared to most fighters I've experienced. While most of the P4 cast POVs were a retreading on what they have already faced (regarding meeting their shadows again), it was at least relevant enough in some form; in how it brought forward the prospect that even if you have overcome something personal in your life, doesn't mean that your problems are gone forever. Would hardly sing praises to it, but at least it was a nice addition (especially since the game can't really go anywhere far with the cast).
The P3 cast POVs (and Naoto's as well) were more interesting, and it was nice to see what they have been up to post P3 (though Akihiko turning into a wandering, protein obsessed fighter was rather meh. At least his ending brought something more interesting to the table, which was something I would have thought he'd find a lot sooner). It's cool to see Mitsuro taken a pro-active role regarding Shadows, since I did wonder if someone of her status would seriously forget about everything that transpired in P3 and simply ignore any possible future events. Naturally I don't expect her and Shadow Operatives to have any significance in future games, but hey, it's there at least. Labrys--while being your generic android story--was done well enough for me to care (to some extent), and how it tied to the whole concept of the Arena was fun. Elizabeths's story brought forward more questions than answers. I really don't see the point of bringing Minato back to life, considering how large of a theme the previous game had about accepting death and being able to move forward. Something tells me this was mostly done to catter to the Minato fanboys who are angry that their protagonist is a door. Well whatever.
Of course the best part were the interactions with the characters. Got some good laughs from several scenes, and it was nice to see how certain members from each group viewed each other (Akihiko and Chie was cute). But I did find that they left a lot to be desired, considering how in a hurry everyone were, so hopefully Ultimax can fill in on more.

I knew you were a good man since you understand Based Goddess Marie but that was further cemented with the bold. I facepalm every time I see someone bring up the possibility of Minato coming back to life. The fact that it craps on the theme of P3 is definitely the biggest no no. Let him be a door, he's not complaining.
It's time for you to buy a 3DS and play Persona Q though.

Here's some food for thought. Beating Margaret's optional battle in Persona 4 will result in Margaret telling a story about Elizabeth and why she left the Velvet Room, alluding to the events of Arena. She'll talk about the boy with blue hair too.
The way I interpret the whole thing is like this:
Elizabeth wants to save his soul from the seal, not necessarily revive him -- I've heard the peeps on FAQ arguing for it, using such arguments a the symbolic meaning of Messiah (his ultimate Persona). You know, dying then coming back to life again. Of course they failed to realize that he already died when he fought Nyx at it's heart to make the seal, then was revived to keep his promise to his friends, having the thing come full circle. But you know, denial is funny like that.

It's good to that Chewin shares the same annoyances I've had with Akihiko and the concept of the P3 protagonist return. The twats on Gamefaq were the loudest on that angle.

That's exactly what I took way from Elizabeth's story. That it's about the soul

Yeah, the whole thing with Minato is a slippery slope. I don't even see how saving Minato would solve anything, since wouldn't that just open the seal? Of course a narrative asspull could be used to justify it (or perhaps even a functional one) but it is such a bothersome aspect, imho. Having Elizabeth start a journey would already be enough for my part.
It is funny though; for a game that revolved around teaching you to overcome death, seeing people not being able to do so with the protagonist is rather amusing.

So long as they use no dragon balls.
I used to hate Minato's death, and was okay with the reviving thing. But then I realized how much it would contradict the whole point of Persona's 3 theme.

Heck, it helps that Margaret and everybody who's aware of her doings are always refering to her journey as something along the lines of "free him from the seal". It's never specified that her intent is to revive but always to "setting him free".That's exactly what I took way from Elizabeth's story. That it's about the soul

Well, like I said in that million worded long analysis -- I like to think that Hashino and co wanted people to feel the impact of death, the protagonist's death, by proxy, which is rather post-modern in nature come to think of it.. Quite similar to that of Metal Gear Solid 2 in fact but one would have to play that one to understand.Akihiko was one of my favorites from P3, so was rather disappointed by him turning into such a brute. At least the story did showcase that he is perceptive and capable, since he is hardly stupid and works nicely in balancing Mitsuru's personality in certain situations, but he was still a lot more "brutish" in his portrayal than what I liked.

Anyway, Metis (in the Answer), went out of her way to explain that the seal was never necessary in the first place. But it should also be noted that Elizabeth's journey is something that could take an eternity to complete, mankind would have to change first and foremost, and her mission along with the rest of the P3 crew is to ease his burden by living their lives to the fullest. This is why they are so determined than ever to pull through with their dreams, it's also to help ease his burden as the seal and help others help themselves. That's how you prevent Nyx from calling forth ultimate destruction.
Essentially, I believe that is what Metis meant to say as well.

I wouldn't take the spinoffs as anything overly serious, at least as far as character progression and the like is concerned. The stories of P3 and P4 has strong thematic overtones and were crafted deliberately and cleverly in a way to express that. I doubt the spinoffs had that much thought really put into their narratives. That's not to say that the spinoffs were bad (I loved Rei's tale in Q) but they're a bit flimsy when held up to the games from which they sprung from, as is evident by almost all the characters that have since become flanderised.
I don't even believe that the main writers/creative minds for P3/P4 were really involved heavily with the spinoffs?
PS: You're welcome for the TV Tropes link, hope you get out before minutes become hours and hours become days and then you're left wondering why the cops are poking around your house because a missing persons report has been filed by your loved ones.

No, please continue with your original goal. Not because you're old, which I'm not sure of, but because I can project my dislike of the game onto to you as well and headcanon that we've found the idea ridiculously unnecessary together.
