Are you guys getting your recommended daily amount of sodium?
About to finish my P3P Makoto playthrough and I'm thinking how much of a missed opportunity not having Apathy Syndrome affect someone we personally know was. Could have been an opportunity to flesh out some more of our classmates or something.
Random chick that keeps showing outside the dorm doesn't count. Although, I wonder why the team never actually did something about her, lol.
Even better -- They included swim-suit Kanji in the game. Awwww yeeeeeah
I can safely say that Yamaoka has made an excellent remix of an already excellent track from Golden.
Awesome.
What a great remix
And of course Kanji being awesome as always
As long as Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is around to sing some tunes. Or hum even.

As long as that's all she does then I'm good.
Don't be dissin her VA work, douchecanoe. :|

I don't like her voice acting and she's a trollop for talking smack about the original cast of SH2.
smack about the original cast of SH2.
So that's where your salt comes from.
Lettuce be real tho, the SH2 voice cast wasn't that great.
They probably can't sing rad songs either.

The cast of Silent Hill 2 fit the atmosphere and characters perfectly -- Nevermind the fact that said voice actors also did the motion capture work.
Glynn and Baker was in the wrong for defending a douchebag company like Konami, which seems to be somewhat of a common thing with Troy Baker's public persona in regards to him not knowing what he's talking about (see the whole talk he had about Kanji as another example), that decides to make crappy glitchy remakes of great games with new voices that don't fit the characters, especially when they decide to include the original cast for SH2 and refuse to pay royals to the cast that made SH2 what it is.
But we'll leave the discussion here as I don't really care for where it is going.
Oh, I agree that Konami is a pile of trash and that their handling of the remakes was abysmal (from the state that the games were in to how they treated the original voice actors, my criticism of their work aside) and that Baker's and McGlynn's comments were out of place. That doesn't factor into how good or bad McGlynn's voice work is though, lol.
She was solid as Kashiwagi and did a decent enough job as Naoto in the Animation (although no one will ever come close to Naoto's original VA imo). Also, whether the original SH2 voice actors were a perfect is arguable but you're right in that it's not really the place for that discussion in this thread.
I'm just joshing you about for the most part anyway. Especially considering I'm a Yamoaka fanboy too.

The new voice acting can best be summarized as melodramatic-anime-nonsense, where the characters have to constantly utter the smallest grunt outloud every second, where Glynn's voice directing can definitely be note as it makes me want to pull out my thumbs. Nevermind that dreadful voice she gave Mary & Maria where the latter doesn't carry that same seductive tone as that of original voice actress's portrayal. Troy Baker, McGlynn or Laura Bailey do not fit the role of the characters as much as Guy Cihi's Sunderland or Donna Burke's Angela ((who is also an excellent singer I'll mind you if not better than Glynn), as far as I'm concerned.
She called the former out as a "business man" and "non-actor" which was quite disrespectable, one need not be reminded that he had always been incredibly passionated about the role -- he didn't actually really want the money for Konami as much as he wanted to teach them a lesson about walking out on their contract written obligations to pay residues to all party's involved.
Tom Hulett and Konami were trying to make the original voice actors retroactively sign out of any residual payments that may have been owed to them for the various re-releases they had already made, but when Cihi stood up for his rights the **** hit the fan. MEM decides to make it out as if Cihi, the voice of James Sunderland was being greedy and asking for money, and Troy Baker (like the good little drone he usually is) follows suite, when the opposite was true and Konami didn't wanna pay.
So yes, I don't like Troy Baker or MEM's public personas and think they are both respetively douchebags, but you're also right that it doesn't have a bearing on their talent for voice acting, where I do like Baker but not Glynn..
To keep it somewhat Persona-related as well since I feel like I need to say this now.
I've made it clear how I didn't like her voice for Naoto at all before because it reminds me of her Japanese voice and the angle with her trying to disguise her voice as male presents a false image of actual character. In the same fashion as Kanji -- Her dilemmas aren't related to sexuality but gender roles. She's not trying to be manly, she's trying to be adultish and sophisticated in an attempt to be taken seriously.. the boyish disguise is more or less a facade for making a statement and wanting to be heard and put the whole skewered viewpoint of Japanese gender politics into question -- I'm sure we all know this already though.
Kashiwagi was always an annoying character, so yes I suppose she should be congratulated for doing her job so well there and tactfully reminded that deliberately annoying is still annoying. Point is I don't like her voice acting, much less her re-recorded lines for Marie and Maria in SH2. All of that has nothing to do with her talking smack about the SH2 & 3 cast.
That's all I wanted to and will say on the matter now.
You're pretty much preaching to the choir in relation to your stance on the whole Konami shenanigans.
Disliking the angle that she took (/was directed to take) with the voice is fine but it doesn't negate the fact that it's a solid enough performance. If anything, it shows her range. It's not a badly acted role at all. That Kashiwagi comment was just odd though, man.
It's pretty much a taste thing anyway. My own bias comes from the fact that I love her collaborations with Yamaoka and the other SH soundtrack composers and as such, I like hearing her perform.

I think this is fine -- I know I'm not alone in having this opinion myself and it's not like you can't like the new voices for SH but as far as I'm concerned they don't fit at all.
I like her singing myself I just don't like anything else by her out of that department -- Honestly, I think Burke is a better singer though but Glynn is great too. She did a collab with Yamaoka on Suda's game Shadows of the Damned as well which was very good.
Ah, cool. I'll definitely check that out.
In any case, I was searching for more Yamaoka/Atlus collaborations and came across this
Made me laugh.

I was severely disappointed. I was hoping there'd be actual Pyramid Head masks in-game when I saw it a few days ago like the Tanaka one.
Might've actually considered picking up P4D if that was the case.
There's nothing quite as horrific as the Igor mask though.

Oh look at this scrub who suddenly shows up and probably haven't even seen the latest P5 trailer that has been released because he's too busy looking at animu Arthur or some nonesense like that -- Like a proper scrub.
