Thanks for the info! Sadly i don't own a Ps3 so it would be cheaper to buy a ps2 and get a bunch of jRPG classics. That or i will try out the ps2 emulator i think my PC can handle it.

It is kinda grindy especially towards the end. I had to re go through tartarus a few times whenever I reached a boss that decides the characters I have been using no longer work. Suffered from some UI problems as well like the awful equipment system.

You know, I find it funny majority of people whine about P4 being milked but don't give two craps about P3 being milked and having far more products then P4 will ever have.
And before anyone even thinks it, I don't support the crappy dancing game, anyone who knows me knows I only talk about the three big upcoming Persona titles, not four.
I must have missed the dancing game for Persona 3. A game having a lot of products is hardly the problem.

None of those personal choices of gameplay makes the gameplay itself very poor.

Awful equipment system a UI problem? In what way?

The gameplay stuff is a personal gripe however it's a massive pain having to talk to each individual character to equip items. You also can't equip from stores except for the main character.

If you have a PS3 you can buy Persona 3 FES on the PSN.
Just be warned that the gameplay in P3/FES is very...poor, imo. I found the gameplay in P2 and P4/Golden way better.
The gameplay is hardly different from Persona 4, with the few exceptions of having guard and controllable AI partners, which isn't an issue to me at all. Persona 2's gameplay is outdated as **** and I found it to be shite.

That's probably not exactly a UI problem. Because the interface itself is fine. I think it's more a problem of mechanics that the individual inventory is separated by talking to each individual person you need to change their equipment.

It's turn base, that's it. Not being able to control party members is a massive issue to others, it is to me and don't get me started on Tartarus, Tartarus is enough to make someone just give up on a promising setting, story and cast because you'll spend many hours climbing that hell hole of pain.

Impossible for me to phrase it better. Tartarus can go and die in a fire, not being able to control the party.. just thinking about it is bad enough >.<

The thing is that complaining about a neat feature like that today is like complaining about the fact that there wasn't manual aiming in GTA San Andreas or a cover system. Not being able to control the party members =/= broken. It might be an issue to some but others won't care one way or another. The tactics-system actually allows the player to somewhat control the party's actions without having to resort to keep telling them to cast the bleeding obvious spell which actually becomes a drag in the long run.

I don't see how not being able to control party members is neat. When it's a turn base game, I better be able to control my party. Why Atlus decided to do that for P3 when P2 allowed you to control your party will always confuse me, at least they went back to allowing you to control your party in 4 and hopefully 5. As for the bolded. I rather do that then have the AI screw me over by doing something I did not want to happen and then causes me to have a game over and then have to do half of Tartarus again. That's not fun and that's not my fault for dying that is the game screwing me over and that is a big no no. There's a difference between dying because of a user mistake and dying because the game decided to be a dick.

Point out which part of my last comment did I say it was neat not to have it? I said the feature itself is a neat little edition but it's hardly a game breaker, maybe for you? What would I know what fancies you best. Relying on tactics means you'll still get decide who should now focus on healing & boosting the party, who should focus on defending, and who should focus on knocking down, when I played Persona 3 FES -- the ability to control the party didn't slip my mind at all. Nor did the idea of being able to dodge roll in Metal Gear Solid 1, or to manual aim in GTA San Andreas. I hardly switch between the party in Dragon Age beyond giving them commands through the tactics menu, unless my character dies. That thing with Mitsuru is an exagerrated pile of nonsense. It did not happen a single time for me when playing FES. I beat Nyx on my first try if you wanna believe that -- it was intense and a bit hard, but that's what made it fun for me. Ultimately, it's all depending upon how you prefer to play your game. In Persona 4, one can still choose to let the party do their own thing and only decide tactics. I had no problem with that because ultimately having to tell each party member every 5 minutes what to do becomes dull and tiresome.

See while it did not happen to you, it did happen to me, too many times. Heck I once had Aigis ruin a good all out attack because instead of attacking the next foe, she decided to attack the samething again, this issue would not happen if I was given control. When it comes to party base combat I will and always will support full control, I don't want AI deciding what happens, it should be me. If I die it should be because I made a mistake, not because the game decided to be an ass.

That wass Matt Bellamy you cockend.
Never happened to me - Not once did it happen. But then again it's because I managed my tactics all the time to asses the current situation. I don't need to control my party members to do that. The only times I died in the game was when I came to a boss unprepared for what abilities it would unleash, or which party members to bring, not something that's reliant on party control.

I just play the Portable Version, don't have to worry about dumb AI moves that way.
I really hope this stuff gets ported to the PS4 as well since I likely won't be picking up a PS3. Stupid non backward compatible gen.
