Ha, it's not that bad. I had only a 360 for the longest time (and a Wii but I do not speak of that) and just bought a PS3 the year before last when I found it for a pretty cheap price. Following MS E3 conference last year though, I've only bought new releases for my PS3 whereas before I tended to favour the 360 version of the multiplats. I still play it from time to time though. Just ran through the ME trilogy.
Even if I was still buying **** for it, the region locking would prevent me from getting P4U in a timely fashion so it would have been a PS3 purchase regardless (barring weird ass region locking shenanigans like what occurred with 4A)
Is it a pipe dream for Atlus to make a couple references to Persona 1 and 2 and undisown them? I'm interested in seeing Chie vs Lisa one of these days via DLC.

They still reference them -- No developer will refuse to acknowledge the existence of their previous work. They've just moved on, in a similar fashion to how BioWare has moved on from Baldur's Gate.

Wrong wording at "disowned". I'm just curious if it's even possible to merge the Persona 1/2 with the 3/4 world aside from some references. The whole demons/shadows dichotomy might make it tricky.
I bought a 360 because it was just the new console at the time, lol. I was pretty keen for the Fable series at the time but the only real exclusive that I was invested in was Mass Effect after it released and we know what eventually happened to the 'exclusivity' of that. Plus, it was also good for backwards compatibility insofar as that every Xbox game that I was interested in was playable on the 360. Played through both KOTORs and Dreamfall. Oh, Morrowind too! I didn't get very far in that though. The games I had already owned on my original Xbox that I had since given away (Jade Empire, Fable and a few others) were all compatible too.
Then there's the added 'bonus' that Bethesda games are much better optimised for the 360. The state that Skyrim was released in for the PS3 was atrocious.
I had a pretty hefty PS2 library at the time but the PS3's price point, later release and then following that, its handling of Backwards Comp after it got cheaper made me less than eager to jump on it. While I use my PS3 more often now, I still prefer the 360's UI. It's loads better than the XMB in terms of use, clarity and store integration. I despise the PS Store on the PS3. Honestly, I would still probably be firmly on the MS train if not for the whole mess last year.
Hopefully you get the chance to play P5 though! You can't miss out on that!
Right, forgot about Fable. Fable 2 is probably my favorite out of the bunch and remains exclusive.

Persona 2 adheres closer to the mythology of Shin Megami Tensei, which is more reminiscent of Lovecraftian Mythos, whereas 3 and onward is Jungian inspired with a different approach to gameplay. Persona has become its own thing now, regardless. It's no longer just a Shin Megami Tensei spin-off. Now it's just Persona.
I personally think it's for the best too. Persona 2 is done. The story was done and it ended very sadly but it ended with a conclusion. There's no need to tie the characters back into the game for the sake having them return. I don't think Atlus dislikes Persona 2, but they realize that the majority don't want another Shin Megami Tensei game. Eternal Punishment's poor sales assured them of that. So that's that.
I guess it depends on when it releases. We'll see if Atlus stick to the projected date or delay. 4U needs to get out of the way first though.

The game is done dude -- It'll release in Japan August 28th so yes, the date will definitely stick.
Both Ultimax and Q have confirmed release dates.

Tatsuyas scenario in EP explains why you fought demons in Persona 1/2. Demons exist in the Persona world, you don't see them or fight them in Persona 3/4 for the simple fact. They have no part in the story the team wants to tell as the Persona series focuses more on shadows then demons. If the story they want to tell in P5 has demons in it, demons will be in it, if not they won't be in it. That does not mean there is no demons in the Persona series as the timeline goes Devil Summoner>If>Persona>Persona 2(IS leads to EP, Ep leads to Persona 3)>Persona 3>Persona 4

Demons are a thing of the Shin Megami Tensei main games, which are no longer relevant to Persona now that it's become its own game.
The concepts have withdrawn from each other and developed differently. The background for Shadows are different from Demons to distinquish them away from Shin Megami Tensei.

To a degree, just as a persona is also technically a shadow. Tatsuyas scenario in EP which was created for the purpose of explaining why Persona series focused on shadows in P3/4 explains why, just because it never got a localization does not mean it's not canon.
