It comes out in winter 2014 for Japan and winter 2015 for NA. I highly doubt it's going to take almost a year for them to translate the game so January/February should be the expected release date regardless.

That's not how calendars are meant to be interpreted though -- Winter 2014 technically spans from December all the way to March, that's how it's meant to be understood. Winter starts from December and ends in March. Not really that hard to understand. They are usually considered to span the entirety of December, January, and February in the Northern Hemisphere and June, July, and August in the Southern

They should call it Winter 2014-2015 then, putting January 2015 into Winter 2014 is just weird.

Why? The release makes sense to people who live in Japan, and their calendar scheduling as it should, it isn't the release for the US -- The entirety of winter spans December, January, and February in the Northern Hemisphere and June, July, and August in the Southern, as mentioned above. It ranges differently around the globe but it shouldn't really be that hard to comprehend. The release isn't in any weay misleading, because there is no exact specification either on a date either, so there really isn't any validity to complain if it doesn't release in December.

Because putting January 2015 into Winter 2014 is weird.

Why would it make more sense to people in Japan than anyone else in the Northern Hemisphere? Are they the only ones with that calendar convention? It's not hard to understand with context, but a lower context dating system would be preferable.

Because January and February is still classified within the same spanning time frame of Winter -- So saying Winter 2014 without saying This Winter, or giving a specific date, should make it abundantly clear -- It'll make sense to the Japanese because it's a Japanese release and it's not the first of its kind. There's really nothing complicated to understand here.

 

It's not as specific as if they had they chosen to use Fiscal Year counting or said "4th quarter of 2014".

If January & February 2015 isn't classified as the Winter of 2014, then what is it? It's most definitely not Winter 2015, for the same reason we are not currently living in the 20th century but the 21st century.

Not as clear as Winter 2014-2015 though. Winter 2014 could also refer to the Winter months within 2014 if you had absolutely no context.

It isn't excuses, that's how it is, lol -- I'd tell you to stop living in denial as if the fabric of time and space is gonna change around to suit your disposition. Winter 2014 refers to December-March, end of story. So, yes, I suppose it could release in December but it's quite unlikely and it doesn't make the date misleading any less because of it.

If they wanted to be more specific than they would have but the given release so far is no less of a placeholder, than someone saying -- Releasing some time in "insert this frame-of-time period".

Those are the ones I can think of that releases in December -- Otherwise there's Arkham Knight, Witcher 3 and a few other titles in the time period of January & February, but I don't know what strikes your fancy. Anyway, back to Persona.

I kinda thought there would be something Persona-related in Winter 2014 what with the discussion being here tbh. 

There's Persona 4 Ultimax, Persona Q releasing soon. That's why this discussion is still going. I reccommend playing 3 & 4 before venturing into this thread because of spoilers -- Hence why I was asking why you cared anyway.
