Actually on that topic I wish we could have taken Margaret out of the Velvet room like we could Liz. I think that would be all kinds of not-quite but almost silliness. I am thinking of Yosuke and Kanji, Teddie fawning over her and the typical Narukami responses.

Well I disagree with most of this, but let's just leave it as two people seeing different things while looking at the same thing.
We can disagree on Adachi, but what I pointed out in regards to the overarching understanding of the games' theme is the truth.
The relationship with him is complex only in the sense that he's not Yu's friend. It's a bond of mutual understanding, in same manner to how Minako/Minato develops a bond with Tanaka. He doesn't become best friend with this shrewd, pompous, manipulating, business man, but he comes to understand what makes him tick and he gains a new perspective on people from the main character. That's the kind of complexity that exists in Persona.

As for P3, since I'm always using Minako I usually go with Theo. Tried to play as Minato but didn't make it too far, might play FES on the good old PS2 instead of firing up the Vita for the little broody boy. (Y'know, if I can ever stop playing P4 or P3P....)

I actually didn't mind Marie that much. I know she wasn't the most inspiring of characters, and had a relatively simple insert into the story, but it added enough for me. That and I got Kaguya for maxing the link, which was nice. Favourite Persona design in the game!
Relatively clumsy sums up her implementation a bit more, but that's an understatement. I've went through everything wrong with Marie to bother getting back into that.

My advice is to play the other games first given they are ten times better than Arena in every fashion, and Arena will spoil these games -- Unless of course you bought the game because of the fighting aspect, in which case, I'd say there are better fighting games.

Ah, yeah the game is locked so if you have a PAL or Asian console you are a bit boned. Buy it locally I guess? Mourn the $10?

Well that is essentially how you phrased it. Arena isn't really a series on its own so that's where the confusion on my part evidently came in.
The game can be bought through European retailers now and it has been on sale quite a few times there, so I'm gonna assume you missed out on those then. Yes, there is unfortunately a region lock on Arena, something which won't be on its sequel Ultimax though (at least not in the US).
And a subbed Margaret trailer of course.

In other news, apparently all the DLC characters (Adachi, Marie, Margaret) are on-disc to begin with. It isn't really surprising considering we've already seem them fully functioning and isn't too awful considering that two of them are essentially free if you buy the game right away but it's still a scummy practice. Arc is gonna Capcom?
