Hey there, welcome aboard.Hi, I'm on page eighty.
If they ever went the Spoken-Voice route with P5, a toggle to cut off his conversation VA would be an acceptable answer. I definitely prefer a blank slate between the two. Character Self-Insertion isn't a worst case scenario, but they run the risk of losing fans depending on their background, personality, and mullet size. The protagonist is no doubt a blank slate and thus I prefer him that way too in any sense of the word -- The character I was playing in Persona 4 wasn't Yu Narukami, nor was it Souji Seta or whatever -- He was my character and how I interpreted him was important to me.
The brief times his background got brought up, they let the player create their own through speech on-the-spot instead of being stuck in someone else's. I thought it was a more organic direction than being given the option early on (i.e. Mass Effect or Dragon Age) in what feels more like a Character Sheet.
As far as Ultimax/Spin-Offs go, I might rent em'. P5 is definitely a buy at this point.
Everyone needs Naoto gifs to brighten up their day!

So, Yuri does voice Minato, eh? Interesting.
I don't understand how people who know who he is don't catch that. Maybe it's my bigger interest in English VAing that makes me pay attention. Yuri's voice is just noticeable like that to me.

I think it has more to do with people being surprised they kept Yuri for him, it was clear it was him in P3 but with minatos personality, it was unknown if Yuri could really pull it off, which he seems to be able to do judging from that trailer.

Minato's voice gives me Prince of Persia vibes.

What? I was surprised over the fact that he ended up voicing him after all -- Nothing else to it.

Your comment didn't specify. Not much of a stretch to assume you were surprised that he voices the protagonist in general.

So, Yuri "does" voice Minato. As in "does", implicating prior assumed knowlegde of such a propability, not the same as if I said "So, Yuri Lowenthal voices Minato, eh?". Sorry if that wasn't specific enough for you then.

You're getting a bit upset over nothing, D-0-Double-G.
There's already one poster above (Mr. House) who could easily distinquish what I was getting at with my first comment you decided to call out on. Also, what part of my first comment "implies" that I wasn't able to tell it isn't Yuri Lowenthal. I even said it was him -- It's the first video where we get to actually hear the protagonist speak, so that would imply I could tell the source of the voice.
I can easily distinquish english voice actors. especially Yuri that he voiced Pharos as well as the P3 protagonist in the original game, from each other -- so that's not a problem for me at all if should you ask from someone anyway.
Just sayin' ![]()

I should also point out that it's been a dilemma for Persona fans as to whether Lowenthal was actually going to voice the MC, were he ever to get an actual voice for a spin-off or anime.. I thought that was common knowledge amongst most people who've played the games, so that in of itself should have driven the point home at least.

I took a look at the first Golden Animation episode. Visually it looks pretty slick, though I was surprised how fast the pacing is compared to the game itself. Think it took at least a good hour to get to TV World, and he pulled it off in 10 minutes. If I perceived it as a newcomer, I might've been a bit confused. o.O They did some neat visuals with the shadow creatures in that high of volume. The fighting was rather extreme compared to the game - maybe I should've kept Izanagi after all. XD
It's a nice show, but I'd definitely recommend the full experience from the game to those curious first. Only on the first episode, I'll see how the rest turns out. Noticed that Grumpy-Emo-Hipster-Abomination-Marie is still present.
...Crap.
---
Technically, I did beat the game... with the bad ending. Fortunately, the prerequisites for getting the true ending aren't game-breaking like Valkyrie Profile was. Spoiling myself on
wasn't necessarily a bad thing, I liked watching certain cues of his actions play out later in the game - the hospital in particular. Sort of like the Keyzer Soze effect. Anyway, I think they handled it extraordinarily well in terms of keeping the player intrigued from start to finish. It's murder mystery done right. Watching him try to head in defense mode for the hospital scene was rather enjoyable. Currently at the Inaba Dungeon.

Hai guys.
I'm new to Persona.
This douchebag Chris forced it on me and it turns out it's a really good game.
I just went to the beach with Junpei and company. I'm really liking how these characters are developing and it was nice to see their more 'human side' that is, not being the atypical anime characters and being, you know... people (because Akhiko is too cool to be normal anywhere else.)
I just met robot girl and it was hilarious playing Rock Paper Scissors.
I (think) I just started the romance with Yukari too cos I hugged her and she blushed ('daaawwwww.)
So far I'm playing it slowly (because my job is sucking my soul) but overall I'm loving everything about it.
Especially Kenji
He pays for my meals.

I'd say that the Persona characters are quite unconventional, in terms of writing, their characterization is authentic and down to the earth, partially due to the relateable environment and modern setting I suppose -- But I don't think anybody but Atlus could do it quite this well. They've proved this time and time again with Persona 3, 4, Digital Devil Saga and Catherine. It's stories about the human condition, in the guise of a modern high school setting, or post-apocalyptic scenario involving human philosophy.
Good to hear you're enjoying it, but I'd warn you not to roam this thread too much 'till you finish the game along with Persona 4. Spoilers are inbound for certain.

Yeah the game's been out for like 6 years at this point. I guess that's the statute of limitations for spoiler tags.

I was bored.
And I needed an excuse to call you a douche (even though you aren't xD though I only use you for your brain
xD)
Anyway sayonara. Gonna go and slumber on that box I call a bed.
P.S
That holiday went by too quick :-(
Well, at least I got summer vacation to enjoy, I wonder what'll happen now that the schooldays are gone for a bit.

To add to your list since you have not gotten to play it(and doubt you ever will since one is a DS game and the other is a 3DS enhanced port), Overclocked and Devil Survivor 2.

I'd say spoiler tags should be put in place out of courtesy if anything. Except for obvious pop cultural references like Luke's daddy.
Persona is pretty niche, anyway.

I remember playing Persona 3 right after 4 and it was miserably boring up to this point. Then Aigis came along and whoosh.
