Even though I do find the story in P3 better then 4, I would be lying if I said I was not bored out of my skull fort the first three months in Persona 3 back when I played FES.
Then summer happen.

Aye, up to summer and the last month are really not the highlight of P3
To add to your list since you have not gotten to play it(and doubt you ever will since one is a DS game and the other is a 3DS enhanced port), Overclocked and Devil Survivor 2.
I'm playing Survivor 2 right now (completed the first last year). Pretty good so far.
Normal version or enhanced port of the first game for the 3DS?
Contrary to what the rest thinks, I had fun with Persona 3 the moment the game started, mostly due to it placing me straight into the action and you gain your Persona almost immediately, while also getting a taste of the Dark Hour, whereas Persona 4 was essentially just a big pile of dialogue, dialogue and dialogue.
You also get to spend a lot of time doing the stuff that makes Persona fun, which isn't as much the combat, as it is the social linking and getting to know the characters. As a result, it becomes easier to sympathize and caring about them when **** hits the fan later. But I've said before why I think Persona 4's story is particularly weaker, compared to 3, so yeah.
I loved the beginning of P3. Was hooked right from the start, especially when the intense cutscene with Yukari hit. So confused and disorientated but glued to the screen all the same.
I agree that the final month was dreadful. The payoff was great though.
Yo, Chris. You have Ultimax, right? Thoughts? Just general stuff. Story up to par?
Normal version or enhanced port of the first game for the 3DS?
Ultimax story is ultimately a let down, partially because it isn't really a "P-studio" game, so the characters (much like anime) are caracitures of themselves. In retrospect, as a Persona fan, I enjoyed it nevertheless for it's interaction between the characters, and the groth of the remaining P3 Crew.
I love playing it though - I'm still having fun with it, while tracking down other games I need to play etc.
The arena games are really just Persona 3: See SEES grow up. The big issue with P4 characters in arena/ultimax is they can't really do anything new or big(even Adachi since we already knew he was gonig to do something like that) because this happens before the new golden epilogue. P3 cast however has far more freedom because we never really had anything like the Golden epilogue for them.
I think the other thing is the cast is very big so alot of characters did get the short end of the stick. Only characters I felt where done well was Adachi, Yukari, Junpei, Aki, Mitsuru, Theo, Fuuka, Laby, Aigis, Pershona and Naoto.

The big issue with most of the characters in the Arena games, or the anime, is that they are badly written -- Their characterization is inconsistent, and it also ignores any growth they might have had in the past. They reduced to stock characters, empty shells of their former selves, which is just sad. The Persona 3 characters are okay, at least.. not really something to praise about.
Potential Persona news in a week -- There'll be some announcements and stuff from Atlus, definitely.
Excited!
Thanks for the thoughts on Arena too. i think I'll end up sitting it out. I wasn't too keen on it to begin with and this news doesn't engender excitement, lol.
Finally picked up P3P. Before I knew it, I was several hours in.
Well, I'm liking it a lot. I think it's an okay way to send off the Persona 3 & 4 characters. That's enough for me anyway.
Persona related news would be great! Really hearing anything is acceptable with me.
I feel like PQ will serve my proper send off to the P3 and P4 universes. Sure, it's not directly following them or anything like in the Arena games but I'm hopeful that the feel of it will be right.
Wish it was on the Vita though, lol.
It's a ton of fanservice, there's no denying that. I just feel it serves as a better love letter and farewell to the two games (P4 and P3) than Ultimax does.
It would if it actually had a meaning and it actually provided closure to something but ultimately it doesn't -- Ultimax brings closure, Ultimax has interactions, it has everything needed to close in on the characters. Persona 4 Golden's epilogue was a farewell to the P4 crew, Ultimax is the P3 crew's farewell. I don't particularly see what Q over it at all. I dislike the game for the same reasons I don't care for Persona 2.
I feel that it has a lot to offer. From a cool unique style to character interactions, banter and situations that aren't possible in the main canon. Plus, the dungeon crawling definitely is more in keeping with the Persona formula.
It just looks really fun and that's what it comes down to for me.
Also, last I checked, Ultimax doesn't have Theo in a loveheart apron. That's an automatic point deducted.
See, these interactions would be great if they actually amounted to something but the problem is that they don't -- The same cannot be said for Ultimax. Interactions between characters serves to develop and flesh them out, if all that is negated, then it's pointless and so much noise. Anywya, suit yourself -- Just don't be surprised if the game is gonna let you down. The dungeon crawling hasn't been sung praises in Japan, even by those who like Etrian Odyssey, the lack of social links has also weared out the game for a lot of fans too. Ultimax has Adachi, therefore it is automatically a win over Q. Also Theodore is actually voiced by Travis in Ultimax as opposed to Mr. Generic in Persona Q.
But anyway, it's not for me to decide. I generally just don't like the 3DS and chibi style so that just adds to my distaste of Q, anyway.
Q has one thing though -- A neat soundtrack.
Looks like, for the first time ever, Atlus will actually show some of their games on TGS, in this case Persona 5.
TGS might actually matter again.

I don't take as much issue with this as you seem to. The fact that they won't remember and that it changes nothing in terms of the main canon doesn't matter to me. The interactions are still there. I'll readily admit that it's mindless fanservice but I think that's a great way to farewell a series. The events in Ultimax ultimately do matter more in the grand scheme of things but that means nothing to me, really, because I'm not fond of the presentation or the way that some events ended up playing out.
It's like you said, different strokes and all. I'm not a fan of Adachi baby as most seem to be so that isn't as much a negative. Theo being voiced by Papenbrook on the other hand...
Hopefully I won't be disappointed by it though!
Excited for TGS but worried at the same time. I'd like to see more of our protagonist but I'd rather avoid seeing companions and the like. That's how I went into 3 and 4 at least.
Yes TGS interests me a lot this year. There's Persona 5 and a bunch of other stuff too.
Cool, might actually be worth taking an interest in TGS for once
