Not exactly, if a woman is a warrior then she needs to look like it. Not like these wannabe supermodels. Rope arms just do not swing swords. But yes, I see these warrior women in games generally a needles polical correctness move. We just have to be so equal. There is nothing wrong with gender based differences, they are not a weakness but a strenght.
"Needless political correctness." Heh.
Most women don't fight because it's not encouraged, not because they can't.

I agree with the looks, if we are going for realism, although it's a fantasy game and that cuts some slack, because we also have examples like Fenris - a skinny guy with a huge sword. ( Lyrium didn't give him any extra physical strength btw, it gave him other abilities. )
Would you also say that there would also be nothing wrong with race based differences and that those are strength and not weakness?

Oh that's lovely Elu. Thanks for putting this up!
Good morning guys. <reads the thread>
Ah, so I see the topic of the build of women warriors have come up. Wait...what does this have to do with a fashion conscious mage?
Wouldn't this be better in the the two companion slots thread or the next female companion thread? Vivienne is a confirmed mage, so there isn't a reason to get into the physical requirements about martial combat in this thread. Those two other threads would be perfect for it though.

A rogue would probably have a leaner build like a dancer or a gyminist what with all the flipping around.

I thought Aveline had a pretty realistic build. You have to be pretty strong to be swinging a sword and marching around in full plate mail.

I preferred Aveline in her original outfit just because I liked her arms.

Vivienne cares about appearances. It's relevant. ![]()

She wouldn't give a crap about a warriors training or looking like one. We should probably stick to talking about her. ![]()
Here's a question: Since she does have some decent muscle tone, do you think that Vivienne might have learned some basic physical self defense? A mage shouldn't rely on just magic alone. Perhaps they help mages with basic defense by teaching them to use their staff as a weapon.

I recall picking up some notes in Origins while in the Ferelden tower regarding this. I'd have to double check my codex in my current play through, but as I recall, there was a self defense program that the powers at be had recently dissolved, and a senior enchanter was mighty pissed about it.
I think it is likely that someone of Vivienne's stature has had basic combat training. I imagine simple casting and combat casting to be very different, and that a mage with little or no combat training would be pretty useless. Vivienne seems far from useless in any manner of combat. ![]()

Given how flamboyant Orlesian finery can get I'd imagine that it could be pretty heavy at times. With all of the running around that an advisor probably has to do she'd probably get quite a workout.
Lol I agree, here's hoping we get some Orlesian Mage robes - though I imagine the fatigue will be great. ![]()

Vivi wouldn't touch a dragon with a 10 feet pole, she would have Cass for that dirty task in front of her.
