Her family crest is a dragon, you think? That's an interesting idea. Powerful, graceful, and obsessed with power and gold. Sounds like the little info we have on her so far.
Let's talk Vivienne!

So I was reading up on Orlais on the wiki and I just realized why Vivienne has the horns: masks in Orlais are worn for both purpose and sign of one's family by the nobility: a family associated with lions would have, yes, a lion mask. The horns on Vivienne represent a dragon, I would think, given the power she has.
But we already have a companion whose family is involved with dragons: Cassandra.

Vivienne definitely didn't have a French accent in that one video where she talked.
A fair amount of people thought she sounded like Natasha Little but Gaider confirmed that it wasn't her doing the voice.
Do you have a link to the actual video, bychance? I can't seem to follow the chain to it.

This is probably the best one.

Not sure if this has been discussed, but which voice actor would you ideally want/do you imagine for Vivienne? (I know some clips with her speaking has been shown, but that's been background stuff and might have been a placeholder.)
I think it might be the GOT actress. I've only seen her in an interview, but I think she's pretty similar. It would also explain Weekes' "Horns Up" comment.

It's also been confirmed Vivienne has no last name (that she admits to).

Wonder if that implies she was an orphan or had a less than stellar family, and the Circle took her away from that. Though it might just be she enjoys the air of mystery. Do human commoners have surnames? It's also been confirmed Vivienne has no last name (that she admits to).
Crazy mode: maybe she's got royal blood and we can choose to install her on the throne of Orlais

@ Potato Cat:
Ah, I mean, I want to believe it (the voice) could be Gwendoline Christie. However, I'm not really seeing it.

I would agree with some of the others in this thread, the voice in the demo doesn't sound french. However, if she were to have a french accent, I can see her being voiced by Amber Goldfarb in her role of Aveline (Assassin's Creed Liberation). But that's isn't with much thinking involved on my part, just a first idea that comes to mind.

This character I cannot wait to meet. I suspect there will be some budding friendship happening between my inquisitor and this lovely and well dressed mage.
It's also been confirmed Vivienne has no last name (that she admits to).
... So Vivienne is Madonna and Cher reincarnate. Makes sense why she will be a gay favorite (I kid I kid.)

Oh PLEASE let it be Gwendoline Christie for Vivienne! I can't tell from the video. Too much echo. Though I was glad I looked anyway...I'd forgotten just how much I loved her outfit.
The art in this thread is awesome. ![]()

I really don't want a white actress portraying one of the very few WOC characters we get. Brienne gets all my love, but I don't want her to be Vivienne even slightly.

I understand the sentiment, but I believe the important thing is to get the best voice available for the job. Ashley in ME was voiced by Kimberly Brooks and most people never knew, noticed, or cared that Ashley's VA was black. Vivi wont be any less a black woman if she is voiced by a white one.

I think it's a little bit different when it's the other way round, though. It's a lot more common to get a white VA for a character of color than the other way round, and it tends to shut VAs of color out of the business. Bioware obviously has a much better track record in that regard, but I don't like any company to rest on their laurels, you know?

Seeing Vivienne smile is akin to witnessing the same from Tywin Lannister.

I don't know enough about the specifics of how Bioware cast their VAs to reason that it's something they need to improve on. I would hope they choose the VA who does the best job and is the best fit for the character regardless of what they look like.
