I feel like, because she cares so much about fashion, appearances, and form over function, whatever DAI's equivalent of rivalry is will be what I will strive for with her… that is if I pay her any mind at all (although, I have a pretty strong feeling she'll be mandatory to recruit).
Let's talk Vivienne!

I'm sure there's more to her character than just that.
Mandatory or not, you don't have to use her or speak to her.

True enough, and I'm sure there is. I'm just giving my opinion. Based on what's been revealed about her so far, I probably won't use her very often. Although, maybe she'll surprise me. I'll just have to wait and see.

You mean, like her spells?
Or do you mean lore-wise? She was set to be First Enchanter of a Circle in Orlais so she's pretty powerful from a lore standpoint.

I can also imagine her giving Cullen a hard time partially because he's a Templar, and partially because he's somewhat easy on the eyes:
Inquisitor: So you think that you can persuade the Comtesse to support the Inquisition?
Vivienne: I believe so, she was a large supporter of the Empress so she should be pretty receptive towards me. If she isn't I'm sure our Ser Turnip is more than capable of negotiating with her.
Cullen: (sighs) Wonderful.

I actually think she'll be my favourite type of companion- sassy, strong-willed and fashionable, what's not to love? I like companion that seem as though they can stand on their own two feet
Yeah, I won't need to agree with her on everything to enjoy having her around. Whether we get along or clash, I look forward to what she'll add to the party ![]()

Not really a fan of the sassy and fashionable aspects of her personality, but no problem with strong-willed. Not that I'm dead-set against the Circle, but she seems the type to support them just because it's traditional and respectable for her to do so to forward her own agenda (ala the Game). Actually, I might kinda enjoy pursuing a rivalry with her in a way, but I'm not sure, yet. Gotta have some characters to disagree with, I guess. She will probably be at least somewhat interesting anyways, but not in my preferred party up there with Cassandra & Varric.

Yeah, I think she mainly supports the Circle b/c she has a lot power within that institution (or was supposed to until the Circles were dissolved). Being named First Enchanter of a Circle is the best thing a mage in Thedas can aspire to (before DA:I).
She's likely not idealistic about the Circle as was Wynne and it might not be too difficult to convince Vivienne that the Circle sucks (if you are an anti-Circle type) if you could show her why having no Circle would benefit her more.

Cheers mine too. The Smug Diva who earned her place is a special breed of awesome, one of the few character types who can complain about petty things and be entertaining while doing it.

So she's basically Morrigan 2.0.
Vivienne, allow me to introduce you to my bench.
Her morals might be similar, but her views on what "Sentimentality" and "Survival" mean seem to be quite different. Vivienne seems to care far more about what other people think of her that Morrigan did. What she might view as a political move necessary for "survival" Morrigan might view as a complete waste of time.
