Says the woman who chooses function over form when it comes to her battle gear. "A thousand arrows would pierce her breast before Vivienne would don beaten steel for so base an urge as protection."
*sniffs* Anyone else smell hypocrisy?
Not even a little. Sentimentality and fashion is not even remotely related...

Is it her fault others are so incapable they haven't developed magic able to leave them just as protected without metal armor?

She's wearing a chest plate in that picture at least, which is better than every other mage we've had so far (not counting Arcane Warriors).
Vivienne: The Ambition.
She almost looks a little sad. But I may just be projecting due to the quote.

It only smells like hypocrisy because you left out the other parts. Or maybe you just forgot. Basically she doesn't believe being armored is an excuse for looking like a bumpkin. She has on armor in that pic as mentioned above.

She likes to bring class to the field of battle. I like the way she thinks (so far).

I'm really interested in Vivienne now -romantically-, I find her to be extremely beautiful. But I doubt she'll be a LI.

No, I thought that too.

Gotta say, I still have no interest in friendship with Vivienne at all. Sounds like she stands for ruthlessness and high class fashion, and against sentiment and commonality. This is exactly the opposite of what my Inquisitor will probably stand for. I want my Inquisitor to be drinking cheap beer with Varric and bringing peace and good will to the people of Thedas. Still, Vivienne might work as a rival, though.

So she's basically Morrigan 2.0.
Vivienne, allow me to introduce you to my bench.
Hate to bust your bubble, but how can she me Morrigan like if she supports the circle? Morrigan did not think much of the circle

I finally got around to making Vivienne art. (With the help of a banter write out by Banxey)Warning: It's a long sequence of images
SpoilerI am excited to see how her views/opinions/story plays out in the game. But, for now, it's fun to draw more willy-nilly stuff.

I don't understand all this dislike for Viv. A morally perfect character is not always the best character and we really don't know enough about her to judge her entirely. Morrigan was pretty awful but a friendship with her was quite rewarding and she was very a entertaining character with all her sarcasm. Not that I am expecting Morrigan 2.0 but Viv may surprise you.

I like her. She's a woman who's fought hard to get what she had and will fight even harder to keep it. I can respect that.

Fashion is nothing but placing sentimental value on attire. It's hypocrisy.

No, fashion is conforming to social conventions, which is all about power and survival.

"Power and survival"? I've yet to meet a person who'd serve me my face on a silver platter for having my shoes clash with my shirt.
Besides, only an idiot would doubt the fashion of carved dragon bone over coloured cotton. *glares at Taarie from Skyrim*

Compare how people dress at google vs. a law firm. Wearing the style of dress matters.

I can fully understand a character putting a lot of caring into dress code when they're going to a social event or walking around going about your daily business but not when you go out looking to kill people. Those kind of characters drive me nuts in games and I'm hoping she isn't like that.

I personally dislike Viv because she is incredibly selfish - She doesn't join the mage rebellion only because she can gain more power for herself in the current system. That's why she politicked her way up to personal enchanter to the Empress. I'd like a character that doesn't join the rebellion because they actually believe in the circle, not because they care only about themselves.
Morrigan is distinct because she believes in survival of the fittest, not the most adept at politics. Viv manipulates the system, while Morrigan ignores the system.

What?
1) I was trying to make an indirect point about functionality over form (wearing sturdy armour is more effective than fashionable clothing).
2) I was trying to make a quasi-humorous end to the conversation, since I feel like it has run its course.
3) I think it best if we agree to disagree on the matter and end this train of thought.
