The sad thing is that she's a mage. Secretly, she probably weighs in on herself just as harshly. She's lucky to get so far, but that could all disappear.
Let's talk Vivienne!

Yeah, that's why she'd want in on the Inquisition so badly.
I wonder if she'd be more at ease with a mage Inquisitor being the one in charge?

I'm actually loving "the Game" right now. Obviously, Viv is a master at it. I hope I can be, too. I wanted the Inquisition to hold a ball for almost the exact reasons Viv is holding us the ball. The chance to mingle with the nobility/rich and talk them over to our side with a few well placed barbs, compliments and rumors is something I've wanted to do in an RPG for a long time now. Part of the reason I'm excited to recruit Viv now is the chance to increase my power through purely political and social means, even for a single mission. It's quickly becoming one of the missions I most look forward to.
It's also a mission that's very indicative of her character. It says a lot about her personality, background and intelligence. All in all, this sounds like the perfect recruitment mission so far.

I wonder how many people she has taken down already

Well, you have to think of the long term goal. Celene may be good for the people for a time, but with all her backstabbing and manipulating people,
If you think Gaspard is above backstabbling and manipulation then you missed large parts of TME.

Any mage can destroy their enemies with fire and ice, but Vivienne can rip apart her opponents verbally, politically, socially—and make ice seem like the gentlest option.

Slightly off topic.Well, you have to think of the long term goal. Celene may be good for the people for a time, but with all her backstabbing and manipulating people, it's going to evidently be her downfall. Gaspard is strong, honorable, and hold a great amount of power. He isn't afraid to show others how he truly feels, and when he killed Lord Ramcha for going against his word, ( I think that is how you spell his name) that's truly when I started to respect him as person and a leader. I'm person of loyalty, and that's how my dwarf is going to be also. Gaspard will takes Orlais far, playing in The Game and his dedicated leadership during war.
Agree, he is a man of honor. I do dislike his lack of sympathy especially for the elves. He also has a thing against Ferelden, he does not want peace. All of them in Orlais are well dodgy, or as they say play the game. It's new to me since all DA games were based in Ferelden.
Supporting Gaspard will be hard for me as I sort of like Ferelden. I hope your dwarf knows what he / she is doing.
Good convo

If DA:I is worth playing three times... My dwarf warrior will holler. Just because of how unrefined I'll play him. I can already see the comedy gold if the story allows it.

Was just playing the game, rather poorly though. This thread isn't about Gaspard and Celene. It's about Vivienne. He has his opinion, there's no need to challenge it in this thread, it's irrelevant.

I never stated that he wasn't, but Celene tricked the person she was the closest to. Gaspard wasn't that close to anyone in the book, and he was even honorable with his enemies. But, my opinion, so don't say that I missed a big part of the book just cause it doesn't line up with your view.

To be honest, when someone shows this attitude, I tend to want to show them some humility...ah yeah, some funny situations incoming.

I wonder if she will have hard time with morrigan ,it seems that both are explosive peoples. Morrigan insulted every companion in first game ,of course if she is still person that she was.

Just to clarify I wasn't saying you were wrong to support him and I am sure some of my Inquisitors will. I just think honor is generally a load of BS and I don't think his honor makes him a better person. Him and Celene are about as bad as eachother in my view.
Anyway I will stay on topic from now on.

We really don't know how Morrigan will behave in this game. The fact that she is in the Orlesian court at all is a surprise and seems completely out of character for her. Anyway I highly doubt Vivienne likes the idea of an apostate muscling in on her mage adviser role, considering all she has done to make that job actually mean something.

Wasn't she always manipulative like when she pretended to be friend of the dalish clan? I don't think that it is out of her character she have probably own goal.If she is same as she was they can be hostile toward each other or perhaps they will be more like polite rivals.

Sorry I must have worded that wrong. I'm saying she might behave completely differently because whatever she is planning may involve sucking up to the empress. I mean out of character as in not something she would normally do, not that her character would never do that.
Oh and I agree, I am sure Viv wouldn't be like shouting at Morrigan or anything but I think she would most likely see her as a rival.
