"With great power comes great responsibility." - Ben Parker

She seems to like to ignore the second part.

While I don't think we have enough info to be sure (there was a mention of the GI coverage that she want to help mages), I think it's a possible theory due to the recent information. Though i doubt she'll be the carbon copy of Morrigan in personally and attitude, so i think it'll be a bit different from the latter.

I don't really see her as a Morrigan type at all tbh but that's just my opinion, of course.

As for the quote, Sasha, she has responsibility to her fellow Mages, which she blatantly states she is seeking out to help. Other than that, no one else is her problem.

Ooooh! Do you think she'll freak out if you tell her that the colour of her dress doesn't suit her?

Because that would be priceless.

I hope someone pokes fun of her outfits in companion banter.

Here what I understood from those lines. Sentimentality means being lead by emotions like love, pity, nostalgia. Vivienne can't let those emotions lead her because otherwise survival can be more difficult in the political area, which is seen as an arena. She's also a mage, it's even worse. And she's right. The game in Orlais is ruthless. I think it means that Vivienne won't hesitate on the means if someone or a faction threats her. she will use any ruse, any trap, she will use all her power. She will destroy her enemy without pity because she has no choice if she wants to survive.

This is exactly how I took it

They said she is like the opposite of Morrigan.

Morrigan doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, while Vivienne seems to be about appearances.

Not to mention that Vivienne seems very socially skilled.  Morrigan had an acerbic tongue on her, something that Vivienne seems to share, but I also imagine that Vivienne will be leaps and bounds more persuasive and a master of etiquette.

I know. When you you said I agree with her, I knew we were thinking the same thing.  :kissing:

I see her 'help' is more about her protecting her station in court, hence why she wants the Circle back.

I guess Justinia and Sylvianus might be right, but I think both theories are possible. I'm fine either way.

If that was the case why would she join the Inquisition

Why would she, an ambitious mage, join an organization that will have international influence and is the only thing that can stop an event that will destroy the world and everyone on it, including herself? Hmm, I wonder...  ;)

She's a mystery tbh, I actually don't care too much about her morality. Allot of DA companions have had some pretty terrible morals in the past.

Even if she is all that her detractors are assuming she is, does that really make her worse than Morrigan, Zevran, Anders(in DA2), Fenris and Isabela? I will judge her character on how interesting/entertaining she is as a companion, morally bad characters can sometimes be the best companions. It's not up to me to morally agree with her or disagree, that's up to my Inquisitor's.

Mary's interview suggested that it was becuase the Inquisition is the only group doing something to stop the chaos in Thedas and restore order.
I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe she has different motivations.

Her reaction to a mage inquisitor would be interesting.

Are we talking about the same Tevinter? The one I know is a place ruled by mages: http://dragonage.wik...vinter_Imperium

It's ruled by Magisters, and it's a society with mages and non-mages who are slaves. I don't see Tevinter as a viable solution for anyone who finds slavery deplorable, and doesn't want to be a Magister. While Vivienne is ambitious (from what little we've learned so far), I'm not so sure it means she would try to be a Magister.

But it's a more dangerous thing to do than not joining, one would think. Seeing as she seems to be risking her neck allot by going into battle as opposed to just staying at court. I guess Orlesian court is also very dangerous though.

Sounds like Aria T'Loak, if you've played Mass Effect.

God, i'm going to love her even more.

High risk, high reward. She'll be a savior of the world. Anyone with ambition would be intrigued by that.

I hated Aria. Why couldn't we let Nyreen run Omega(I know why but you know what I mean)? I'd even choose Petrovsky first if he stopped doing Cerberus things.

On topic of Aria, did they ever confirm one way or another her past experiences with Wrex?

Honestly, Vivienne being ruthless is certainly not what could intimidate me. Actually, I love me a fierce woman.
