I'm hoping for the Dales to demonstrate that. :)

How do you think Adrian could be as the new leader (in that scenario), and how Vivienne might react to her?

Considering their views, she'll react...not so well.
As for the leadership, whoever is running things in the hinterlands is doing a terrible job. I'd definitely try force a new leader.

I'm betting that Vivienne would not be happy with Adrian's efforts in the rebellion, especially with how far downhill it's driven the mages.

The fact that untrained guerrillas are maintaining an even fight with a substantially larger army trained to kill them specifically is quite impressive as it is. If she is responsible in some capacity, it's obviously a bad thing, but DA PCs can hardly avoid associating with everyone who's done bad things, even murderous/negligent ones.

We don't know the numbers in the Hinterlands, so I'll hold off any judgement on the leader's military skills.
I understand that it might be inevitable, but I'm not sure she'd care that much of mages killing common folks.

Given that it was a common folk who sent the letter, I'll need to know more about how exactly these killings happened before I render any judgments.

Oh well. All those who have power are afraid to lose it.

It really sounds more like comfort is what she's afraid of losing. She'd presumably still have status in the mage rebellion, seeing as she's a senior enchanter who happens to be politically savvy, meaning she'd probably be the front line of any negotiation effort.

Mages aren't untrained, though. They can outperform our own modern artillery and air force, basically fighting people dressed in metal and armed with pointy metal. Presumably templars need to see mages to nullify their magic, so hit and runs would be extremely effective.

Well, the letter was pretty clear on both the killings and the villages being burnt. Otherwise, everything in that letter might be biased, included the views of templars.

A hell of a lot of combat training is psychological, and power is nothing without control. Mages might command more power, but templars have had far more training and experience in anything related to war.

Well, given that Fiona seems to be ash on the wind, either Adrian already did... or is a serious contender to take over the entire rebellion, if she isn't leading it already.

If Fiona dies and Adrian takes charge, I'm siding with the Templars.

But being a mage is all about the psychological. Remember the DA:O tower scenes, were the apprentices are told how to control fire through concentration and willpower. Even if the templars are disciplined, I'd say the lore overwhelmingly supports mages having an edge.

Templars are disciplined and trained, sure, but they're trained in how to murder a bunch of prisoners they have trapped in a small, enclosed space. Even if they train for conventional wars, which apparently they do, that still has nothing on conducting a guerilla campaign.

Yeah, and if they did join the Venatori, I will be putting the mages down with a vengeance.

Yeah, if they side with the Venatori, I will literally say, "Well, this is an easy choice" to the whole thing.

Still hope there is a compromise option though, despite it sounding like we will only be able to support one side.

Same. I'd really hate to only be able to choose sides.

I don't know if they 'side' with the Venatori, or if the Venatori came up and screwed them over. As maybe the RT might come in a templar-supported outcome.
The Venatori and the RT might be related to each other. The formers were shown with RL. Maybe they're both working for the Big Bad?

Hopefully every major decision will have some sort of compromise that you can make work, where appropriate.

Actually, a user in the Cullen thread suggested that Cameron's interview still leaves room for a neutral approach to be possible. I wouldn't build much expectations on this though, to prevent disappointment.

Red ****** Templars.

That's about personal control and avoiding demon possession, not training oneself to kill.

Sounds like they both are factions of the Big Bad.

For what reason could you possibly support mages who willingly side with the Venatori?

I do feel that both of them has some connection to the Big Bad, the Venatori even had demons with them in that one demo

I would support them, more-so because I'm obsessed with Tevinter and I want to know more about it but also because we know next to nothing about them. I think it would be cool.

I think the Venatori are directly under the control of the Big Bad, cause we saw Alexius summoning Veil tears himself.

The Reds, I believe, are being manipulated by the Big Bad.

I am supporting the mage rebellion. If I have to deal with war criminals among my own faction, I'll imprison them and have them stand trial when possible. Under no circumstances, however, will I allow the templars to win. Ever.

I'm saying that the Venatori are about as useful a slam against mages as the Red Templars are against the Templar Order.

Understood. I misunderstood your post.
