There are black people in Bioware games? Are you sure about that?
Let's talk Vivienne!

I'm sort of picturing her as being kind of like Anora except with the ability to conjure fireballs and a wardrobe even more fabulous than Elton John's

I played them all, except BG2, I'm just teasing. If black people in games aren't "black" enough, people call them the token black character. If they're "too black" the devs are called racist. You can't win!

Apparently she rips off the skin of her foes to use for her boots.
I suppose that would be theft and battery? ![]()

Or Resolutionist, which kind of seems closest to Magister like you said. Yeah, could be that as well.
I support magocracy.

I went on this venture for a reason, and I can't just abandon it now.
Your just gonna get hurt by both sides because you are in the middle. And there is no way you can fight back properly, because then you will become no better.
Most won't naturally support your compromise, and if you force your system, you will become a tyrant, and that is no real compromise.

Why does racial diversity always mean black and not Native Americsn, east asian, middle eastern or pooynesian?

There is no racial diversity, she's just black. Race includes more diversity than skin color.

So far, Thedas does not appear to have a New World/Americas, no Middle East, no Asia/Orient, and no Polynesia. Oh, and no Africa, either.
That said, its "world map" appears to be PART of one continent in the southern hemisphere of a planet, which is an analogue of Europe. We haven't even seen the entirety of the continent, whether or not there are any others on the planet.
Unlike Blizzard, they haven't tried to fill up their planet with continents, yet. Which is not to say there aren't others.
Anyway, the lore says there is one Thedan land with dark-skinned, quasi-Moorish people: Rivain.
For now, that is where those of dark skin tone come from, until other lands appear on the map.

No no, that's sounds about perfect for Orlais. You have to be sneaker about defeating your enemies there. Then there is the skin and the act of skinning itself! My goodness, that takes a dedicated hand a Free Marcher couldn't begin to match.

If Vivienne is opposed to blood magic still after all that... well, I'm going to laugh. Then use it in her face as often as possible.

If she's too Orlesian I will hate her on principle.

From Mary Kirby's description earlier in the thread, I'd say very.
She is allergic to Fereldan fashions. And there's nothing she dreads getting as a Wintersend present because she arranges for those privileged enough to see her for the holidays to select gifts for her from an approved list. Also her shoes are an amazing array of gold-encrusted boots made from rare animals, and possibly the skins of one or two of her political rivals.

Hopefully where it begins and ends.
Though I can't wait to find out what would drive a seemingly Machiavellian type to endorse the circle of magi.
