All I really want is to hear this fabulous lisp she's going to have, hopefully it's not going to be so fake sounding that it becomes irritating and makes me want to strangle her face off.

Also, I hope it's going to be treated with a little respect, I have a close friend who becomes very self conscious about his lisp at times, so I hope this isn't going to be turned into some sort of insensitive running joke, just to belittle her strong personality.

Yeah, she seems very Orlesian and I can't even lie it makes me more excited for her.

It really comes down to her accent and how her VA does it.  Otherwise, she seems like a nicely different perspective.

I really doubt that BioWare would turn such a thing into a running joke. So far, their running gags have been more breaking of the fourth wall or a funny event that seems to happen repeatedly across the series, like Sandal mysteriously dispatching bunches of powerful enemies at once.

We heard her a little bit in that PAX clip, right? It seemed, to me, a lot milder than Lelianas. I wonder if her lisp will be noticable to us or if it'll just sound like it's supposed to be there (bc of her accent)

I think her accent sounds milder because she's got an English accent. To be honest, I'm doubting the whole lisp thing.

But maybe we'll get some more Vivienne footage soon and we'll get a better idea of what she sounds like.

Or Resolutionist, which kind of seems closest to Magister like you said. Yeah, could be that as well.

We know relatively little about the Resolutionists, aside from their desire to wage war on the Chantry to liberate the Circles; I don't think that necessarily equates the group with Magisters, or even a magocracy like Tevinter.

The PAX clip voice actress might not be the final one for the character (it has happened before).

Seriously?? I really hope that's not the case because even though it was such a short bit, it suited her really well. I liked it :(

If Vivienne is opposed to blood magic still after all that... well, I'm going to laugh. Then use it in her face as often as possible.

I suppose her opposition to blood magic would make sense, if she's anything like Wynne.

I'm wondering how pro-Circle Vivienne is going to respond to non-Andrastian mages (who will likely use non-sanctioned Circle magic, technically making them maleficar), like the Vashoth or Dalish Inquisitor, given her apparent upbringing in the Circle, and her Orlesian upbringing.

You know, I tried that for the Take Your Place contest thing, but I started sounding German instead of French

I wonder about that too. Though I want to add that it's not 'likely' at all that non-Andrastian mages would side magic sanctioned from the Chantry. It depends on the player.

A Blood Mage Inquisitor hmm?

She might try to skin him and use him in some outlandish, barbaric Orlesian fashion statement.

If the game's anything like II, I will simply romance her and tell her what to believe, ha ha!

I'd imagine that most (if not all the) magic taught to the Vashoth or the Dalish protagonist wouldn't likely be part of the Circle curriculum, and would be seen as making the mage a maleficar, as even shapeshifter Morrigan was viewed as such by Alistair and Wynne.

I don't know, Merrill seemed to have learned mostly spirit and primal magic as the first of the clan, and most specialized stuff the Dalish learn seem to be nature-related, which is probably not something the Chantry bans. They don't really seem to ban that much outside of blood magic and things closely related to blood magic, in all honesty.

As for the Vashoth, we don't know where they were trained. Since the Qunari don't train their mages I can't see them being taught by them- most likely it was by other Vashoth mages of Human mages, neither of which are likely to teach in-depth forbidden stuff, because they probably wouldn't know any themselves.

I always assumed that Morrigan was a Maleficar due to knowledge and practice of things like the dark ritual, which came very close to blood magic, not necessarily her shapeshifting.

I wonder if there are human or elven Serabaas? It can't just be the Qunari that the Qunari collar can it?

Well, if those people have become part of the Qun (though it would be hard to imagine why they would, other than that they really see themselves as a danger and accept the consequences of their acceptance into the Qun), I imagine they'd be bound as well. Would be interesting to see such a situation pop up somewhere in future games.

Wow.

She wasn't white in Origins?

Let me go check that...

Well... isn't she? I mean... she looks white. Unless the lighting and or skin tone is horrible.

She's clearly white. I just played origins, she was not black at the time. I prefer the change though, she was so generic in that game.

Never thought Isabela was white in DAO. I didn't think she was exactly black either, but her skin was definitely darker. I would have said she had exotic origins.

I suspect/hope Vivienne will turn out to be pro-Circle the same way lobbyists are pro-Whatever: she backstabbed her way to the top of the Mage food chain just in time for a bunch of bleeding hearts worried about the "plight of the Mages" to totally unravel the system and leave her with no hierarchy to rule over. That would definitely tick me off.

The Qunari have been in Thedas for centuries. Generations of humans and elves have been born and died knowing only the Qun. Surely many of them are mages. Another distinction I'm interested in is that of gender. The Qunari seem to be a matriarchal society at its core. The ladies run the show and the men do all the fighting and lifting of heavy objects. Do the female mages also get collared?

She definitely was not white in DA:O, lighter than DA2 absolutely, but white? Naa. I agree with the exoctic origins -- actually when the trailor came out with her in it, I remember I got into a huge fight with someone on the BSN because I said she was exotic and they got pretty mad

but yeah, I don't think she's exactly black, or at least completely. Vivienne, on the other hand, yes <3

To the non-Qunari Saarebas, yes if a human or elf was born into the Qun a mage, logic stands that they'd receive the same treatment. Same for either gender of any race as well.

As for their society, it's actually neither. The Arishok is always male, the Arigena is always female, and the Ariqun can be of either gender.

No doubts.  <3

So some people got mad because you used the word exotic ? Lol, I shouldn't be surprised by now. I remember my first time on the bsn, and my first post. I said that I liked Ashley and I was insulted. " Nazi, etc. "   ( well it wasn't fun the at that time )

But I do agree, exotic is perfect to describe Isabela in DAO. =)
