Sadly, there's no double meters. Gaider talked specifically about an approval meter, never about a respect meter.

There aren't two meters, there's just one for approval.
The two-meter system is an idea liked by a lot of people here, but it's not something Bioware is working on for DAI.

The last one on GI coverage? I watched it, but I don't remember that they confirmed this. I'll watch it again.
Howewer, Gaider specified that the system will have the approval bar, and he talked about the possibility of the double meter recently in a thread about it. He said that a system like that would be incredibly difficult to make, and it might results in less companions. If it were confirmed, he'd have talked in a different way, and stated that they're using the system.

I really really really want Cassandra and Vivienne as LIs, but hopefully they'll do 3 females and 3 males.  I kind of imagine Cassandra as being like the Aveline type, either wanting someone else or no one at all. I'd prefer her to want me, but, you know

I really want to hear about the male LIs too!

 

She really does! I think she'll be a LI, idk, maybe it's just wishful thinking but I can't imagine her not being one. Could you imagine her romancing a Qunari Inquisitor? I doubt they would make it race-specific.

 

I must be honest, I can't imagine Vivienne not being one either even if I remain cautious to keep me safe from disappointment lol.  Also Bioware gave us for the valentine's season, two cards, one of Cassandra and one of Vivienne teasing us. They didn't do that with Varric for example. I can't help but think it was a hidden message ! ( I could be terribly wrong with my ridiculous wishful thinking.   ) That would be awesome if those two girls were definitely LIs, agreed. That would change for once. Two strong female characters at the same time.

 

Also, I'm curious too about the male LIs as well.  Hope there's one character I could like. Alistair is the only one I ever romanced. ( and liked )

I just watched the demo again, and I notice that the party was level 10. In the beginning scene, it was like they just recruited Vivi with the dialogue between her and Cassandra. I hope we can recruit her earlier then level 10.

I think Cassandra and Varric are going to be the first ones we can recruit. After, I presume  all the characters will quickly follow like in DAII.  Maybe a bit like DAO too where you get one companion soon or late according to the road you chose.  For example  Wynn I recruited her very late but only because I did the circle of mages toward the end of the game, while other people recruited her very soon, because they started from there after Ostagar. The same for Ogrhen, etc.

Don't worry it looks like we actually get her earlier than that, she was in the game informer videos as early as level 2-3 so she it seems that she's one of the first one's we encounter.

I doubt either sources are reliable, as early the GI footage was and as made-for-PAX the PAX demo was.

That said, I do have an inkling she'll be one of the first companions we can recruit, after Cassandra and Varric, given the fact she was revealed so early on

Why wouldn't they be reliable?

The game informer stuff is older than the demo, she was revealed in the game informer stuff and this is actual gameplay from an even earlier build than the pax stuff and it shows her in the party at level 2 along with the grey warden and "Serra".

Just because it's older doesn't mean it isn't reliable or the reverse is true, both are reliable and we don't know when we actually get Cassandra and Varic or in what order we can recruit them, hell they could've already been recruited and the devs just decided to use this party or maybe they took another group somewhere else or we meet up with them later.

Anyway it still doesn't change the fact that Vivienne is present that early, and considering how early this is from I don't think we are even the inquisitor yet since they said we have some time before we actually get made one.

I made that comment as a joke, and I assure you that I am not in any way looking for trouble or trying to start an argument. Only to point out that I personally believe that at least in DAO we got two very "strong" (I hate that word. It's so very vague) female characters. But you're right. It isn't relevant.

 

More on topic, and though I hate to be a downer, I doubt Vivienne will be a LI unless there are three of each gender this time around. Cassandra is quite likely to be one, and having Vivienne be the only other option seems rather redundant. Female (and also male, to a minor extent) romance options have so far always had opposite personalities, and I think they would rather have at least a non human option for each gender. If Sera ends up being a companion (seems very likely right now) she seems much more likely to be paired with Cassandra.

 

I could be completely wrong, of course.

You're right though, oh my gosh!! I didn't even think about that [the Valentines Day cards]. Man oh man, I think you're onto something. I wouldn't be shocked if Varric wasn't a romance option considering the whole 'Bianca' thing, that we still don't know much about except that she is alive and well. I'm willing to bet Vivienne is a LI, I just can't imagine her not being one.

Also, I really hope we can get a similar hat to her and maybe even some robes that are on the idea of hers. I haven't even played the game and she's already my favorite character.

Do you think her hair is pulled up under her hat or maybe she's rocking a really hot shaved look?

It's because all that stuff is highly liable to change. Just because she was there for Crestwood: The Return, it doesn't mean she'll be there for the release version, not that I'm actually doubting that. She was probably just used because she was previously confirmed, which allowed all three classes in the party.

Games aren't necessarily built (nor tested) in a linear fashion though.  I've run around through the epilogue levels at level 1.

The thing that worries me about her Valentine's Day card was that she said 'You should be so lucky'. Makes me think she wouldn't want to romance someone so lowly. But I remain hopeful!

And I'm thinking she's either bald or hiding a third arm. Really hope if it is ever revealed, they don't pull a Tali and cleverly hide it with camera angles.

The one thing that confused me is that Vivienne supposedly has a lisp, but I didn't hear it during the PAX Prime demo at all. Unless I'm going deaf?
