She reminds me of Storm from X-Men.. at least on appearances and clothing style.

Which, of course, means I'm going to spec Lightning Bolt and Cone of Cold. :)

If you watch American Horror Story season 3, I get the voodoo queen vibe from her. Sassy, but is confident of her power and has a deep caring side!

I'll come around to it. I still haven't seen that show. Been in my netflix queue for awhile.

I wonder how she is going to act around my dwarf pc!! I can't wait!!! Especially with the racial dialogue we can have with the NPCs.

In the event that Dalish Mage is an option the amount of ego between said Inquisitor and Vivienne shall be absurd.

Specially if you play a hating human Dalish. I can see her trying to convince him/her that the circle would be the best way to practice their mage. I'm pretty sure you can come up with a banter for that. :D

Oh most definitely. Which is exactly why her motivations behind being pro-circle are most intriguing. From the way things look, it seems that she simply likes her position of authority.

If so, she may well have been one of the mages simply dragging the rest down...

Define dragging down.

She seems to be a better First Enchanter than Orsino at least. I mean, she's alive. I assume her Circle is as well.

Orsino had an insurmountable list of obstacles stacked in front of them, from a crazed knight-commander to a city built of evil. The fact that he kept things intact as long as he did and didn't go crazy sooner is quite an accomplishment.

And if she's willing to keep the mages in bondage just for her own lust for power... well, there's a country to the north she might be happier in.

I don't know about bondage. I don't think it's Bioware's MO to make a companion like that, but who knows. I'm willing to bet she's just another "Aequitarian" type. An apologist at worst. Not a person who puts people in bondage for their own lust for power.

Wasn't it speculated that one of the reasons for her support of the Circle was because she wanted to retain power under the old system?

I think I saw that somewhere as well. Too bad we do not know for sure.

"extremely pro-circle" along with "the ends justify the means".

Feelin' a bit ambivalent about her and I haven't even talked to the character. Good writing.

We also know she joins the Inquisition to "help her fellow mages however she can." I guess she thinks the circle is the best plataform for mages to improve their lot.

'The end justify the means' is something we speculated she agrees on. What we know is that she supports the Circle system.
I think I stated once that the reason why she supports the system might not be just because she thinks it's the better system, but because she had power in it (based on the bits of personality we know of), but that doesn't mean she doesn't care about mages, since, as I've said before , she woudn't like if you treats mages badly or think badly of them, and as Barquiel said, she wants to help mages.

Therein lies the mystery. We have no idea what her perception of 'bad mage treatment' would be. Possibly wearing the skins of her political rivals as footwear hardly presents us with a lenient and merciful type. I do not doubt that she does care about the mages, only Inquistion will tell if she's an overbearing Meredith or an Orsino minus the harvester.

Edit: Or something in between.

I'm guessing a harsh "Lawful" Neutral or Good type. Which would be new for a Mage companion.

It could be that Vivienne supports the idea of the Circle as a means of collective bargaining for mages. Demonstrating that mages are fully capable of training and policing themselves without leading to the excesses of Tevinter is a better way of achieving their goals than outright rebellion.

After all, if you're going to claim that you're better than everyone else you should be able to back it up.

I have a feeling that she isn't going to be like that whole game and that it's a possibility that she would break down for not being a good enough leader to stop what was happening inside the circle. I could see her sassiness as a cover up to hide what she is truly feeling and could sums up her reason for being with the inquisitor…to redeem herself for what she couldn't do in the circle.

(I'm editing the title of this post and removing the "Formerly Is Vivienne Black" part because it's scoped far beyond that and it's not necessary to have in the title now).
