There are different appearances for her. Some have different hats, some have no hat...but I'm not sure which appearances will be available in the final game. So I won't promise no hat, but there are at least variations.

Not sure I understand this, in the PAX demo I got the impression we could change armor of compaions, so potentially one could unequip any hat/helmet thus leaving the companion without such, unless equipment and appearance are two different things and appearance has nothing to do with armor worn?

She looks amazing. I like how she, embodies aspects of Orlesian philosophy in her attire. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing her in-game for her mage POV as well.

What do you guys think about the details on her clothing and how that might speak to her character?

The details are are impressive, stylish, and elaborate. Well done. I think Vivienne is a posh sister who knows what she wants, doesn't suffer fools, and know her magic, like she knows her fashion.

Wasn't there a system planned where any companion could equip any outfit item from their class, and it would adjust its shape/appearance to match each companion's iconic silhouette? Or did that not end up happening?

Good point. I'm looking forward to understanding all the "next in line, no already is First Enchanter" confusion. It would be interesting if she were Celene's court mage, running around with her during the war, and then Asunder happens and suddenly there's no Circle to come home to. On the other hand, she sounds like the sort of character who might prefer being at court regardless. Hmm...

She sounds like the best character to bring along for banter and incidental comments!  I can't wait to meet her in DAI.  I only hope my Quizzy will have something suitable to wear, I don't want to be out dressed by an Orlesian!

As they should be. I'm all for customizing companions when it's practical to do so, but I appreciate their character being expressed in the game mechanics more than I appreciate the extra little bit of customization. I can't imagine someone like Cass being terribly picky about what clothes you give her, your her leader and she'll respect your tactical decisions. But Varric has a very strong bond with Bianca, and it clearly states that Viv isn't going to give up her fancy clothes for a little extra protection, and such things really should limit the player's ability to customize their companions.

I think this sassy mage looks fabulous! I don't believe we'll be able to romance her though? 

Wasn't she in the running for becoming Head Enchantress for a Circle in Orlais? Now we know that for some reason, she joins the Inquisition, but she might want to return to the Circle (or a newer version) once most conflicts (The Veil Rip, Elven Rebellion, etc.) are solved. She seems like the lady who puts her career, imago and professional relations before her own pleasure and relationships. 

 

My guess is that Cassandra and Sera will be the female companions who might engage in a romance.
