I just draw a Vivienne.
It's crappy for numerous reasons.I just got a cheap drawing tablet...
I thought me drawing on a computer = less messy.Well no.
But I think it's sort of alright.If you don't look too close . ![]()

So I was looking at the War Room concept art:

I think that's Vivienne in an alternate outfit behind the Inquisitor. She's clearly shocked that he left the Keep wearing that helmet.

She's not Vivienne, that's an entire different character ![]()

She doesn't look like a combatant either... possibly their version of traynor
So...I did a thing or to be more precise made an attempt to draw Vivienne. It's far from perfect since I'm still an amateur in digital art,but here it is.
Sashay. Sashay. Work it girl!
So Vivienne is an afro version of Maleficent, eh?
An "afro" is a hairstyle (one I happen to love, by the way). There are no Americans in the DA universe, so "Afro-American" would not accurately describe her either before you try to say that's what you meant. And while I realize your poor reference was to Maleficent's cowl, we also don't know enough about Vivienne's character to declare her an evil, albeit awesome, villainess.
why make her a fassion freak, especially in a dark fantasy!
She's a mage, mages can dress however they like and still kick butt.

Right you say that until a Templar shoves a sword through your robe like its tissue paper ![]()

My comment was a snappy remark -- Sorry if it didn't get the intended reaction. In my experience, the word 'Afro' is often phrased when referring to people with black skin in the Carribean & Latin countries aside from 'Murica. Besides, had I said 'Black' version of Maleficent it would have been confusing due to Maleficent already wearing black attire. The reference was, as you so lovely pointed out, targeted towards her attire's shape (Not just the hat) and not too much about what her character is like. ![]()

Maleficent was lame ._.

You could always wear a brigandine, the medieval equivalent of a bulletproof vest:
Although, with Viv it would probably be more of an armored tank-top. Then again, fighting in such impractical attire might just be her way of taunting the enemy.

Excactly! See this is where Mages need to take a page from the dwarves, especially their nobility in this case whom have chainmail actually sewn into the fabric of even formal garments. But mages are apparently eager to rush into battle with just a few inches of cloth to protect them!
Because of reasons!

I was debating about responding to this as I really don't want to risk this thread going off on a tangent, but I figure you should at least know there are no hard feelings.
I don't think if you'd said "black" there would have been any confusion. Anyone familiar with Maleficent and the constant BSN chatter about Vivienne's hat would have made the connection since the main superficial difference between the two that could be referred to as "black" is Vivienne's skin tone. At least I never would have thought you meant Maleficent's clothing.
Almost thirty years as a black woman and I've never heard someone else in the community being called "afro" as a descriptor for their ethnicity . And the Caribbean black folk I've been around simply said they were "from the islands" or "island folk" to differentiate themselves from American blacks.
Just a matter of semantics and anecdotal evidence, I suppose.

Yep. It's confirmed that that's not Viv. http://dgaider.tumbl...oom-oh-yay-matt

Then I apologize for assuming but glad there are no hard feelings and leave it at that.

Which cannot be because the Chantry wouldn't want that in their mages' robes? It's far from the case for those mages like Merrill, Bethany, and ChampionHawke.
Thought you all might like to see that Vivienne is on the Tumblr radar. Pretty cool! Madame de Fer's gone mainstream.

Hot damn, that picture is gorgeous!
There was an explosion in gorgeous Vivienne fan art after the "white Vivienne" picture debacle. You should check them out! (Note that there's some weird porn in that tag that's unrelated to Vivienne the character so, uh, don't look at work?)
One of the things I love about the BioWare fandom is how lightning-quickly people go about increasing character awareness exponentially.
Those are great.
What in living Hell is that collar?

I imagine some non-Orlesian Inquisitors will have precisely that reaction about most of Orlesian culture and attire, given their extravagant tastes (or their extreme tastes, depending on your mileage).
