I'm just wondering when the "not at all like Wynne" part is going to kick in during her Character introduction/arch. She has power, she is pro-circle, but not like Wynne and a machiavellian...She will most definitely be a wild card in the conflict.

Definitely. She sounds extremely dangerous. I definitely want her pointed at our enemies.

I thought mages were locked up in dungeons to be tortured at will by the templars?

Yet here we see one running around court causing trouble.....

The differences with Wynne is likely in his personality and methods. Wynne would try the solve the was and restore order through diplomacy. Vivienne seems to prefer to solve it by force.

First update on Vivienne!

Vivienne_004-1024x576.jpg

"Referred to as Madame de Fer, “the Lady of Iron”, Vivienne lives up to her title. A leader among the mages and official enchanter to the Imperial court, she is renowned as a fearsome woman who achieved her position through guile and deft political maneuvering. Vivienne allows nothing to stand in the way of what she desires—not those who claim she is a social climber, not those who seek to restrict her power, not even her fellow mages who would conscript her into a rebellion with which she disagrees. Vivienne fights to restore order in a world gone mad…so long as that leaves her among those left standing, once all is said and done."

More next Wednesday!

This is very interesting!  For my own part, I'd like to help broker compromise between mages and templars as much as possible, and I think it will be nice to have Vivienne's perspective as a mage on this conflict.  Perhaps there are other mages, in addition to many templars, like her out there who may feel the same about the current rebellion for their own reasons.  Maybe Vivienne's very pragmatic approach shows that a third way is genuinely feasible?

It's also intriguing, and heartening, to see that, for all the restrictions on mages we saw in Asunder, their lot in Orlais is not necessarily always one of despair or even lack of status.

I would not doubt that Vivienne would likely go about things in somewhat of an Adrian manner. That is to say that she will be manipulative and cunning, willing to do whatever it takes to meet the ends.

Montsimmard, the Circle where she's from, must be extremely liberal, to allow her such leeway.

Difference is, where Adrian would use a fireball, Vivienne would just as soon cut down an opponent with her tongue. And quite frankly, I find Viv much more dangerous than Adrian ever could be.

Yeah, she seems the 'end justify the means' type of person'.
What you were correct about?

But they can also push for that constitutionally, therefore being anti-rebellion.

This is how I picture her being.

I don't think she'd be against killing if talking doesn't work.
Agreed on Vivienne seeming more dangerous than Adrian though.

Vivienne is above such trivialities. She probably has plenty of haters in the court and amongst her mage peers because of it.

Ugh, just look at that fabulously elegant new pic of her. Even Empress Celene eyes her with jealousy I bet.

Can't wait to hear more of Vivienne's non-lisping sass.

What's wrong with people who lisp? Would you have a problem if Vivienne did lisp?

A no-nonsense and sharp-tongued mage is reminding me a lot of Morrigan, my second favorite Origins character.

I may not think Vivienne is attractive, but holy damn do I think her personality is sounding good.

Reading between these lines leads me to believe that she is in it for herself after all.

Edit: Xil is going to love this.

I assume you saw the blog? She sounds freaking amazing. And Celene and Madame de Fer are probably very good allies.

Well, the first enchanters in all games seem to be able to do what they want, pretty much, with Orsino ranting about Meredith in the middle of Kirkwall unaccompanied by Templars and Irving going to Redcliffe in Origins.

It's why I don't fully understand the mage rebellion. For a system that is supposedly so limiting it seems that the mages who really want to earn more freedom through working with the system do generally manage to achieve it.

Yup. I'd like to see them interacting in DAI.
