That last one was actually my poking fun at myself.

It's hard to tell cause you say some utterly ridiculous **** while being perfectly serious. But in that case I correct myself.

Petrice? Less appalling than Vivienne thus far.

Vivi looks interesting to me so far. Look forward to reading more about her.

Maybe if we get some pictures of Vivienne while not wearing her Lady Gaga fashion show outfit, I'll be inclined to find her attractive myself!

Or Vivienne not wearing anything at all.

LMFAO

I can't...I just can't.

*rolls*

We know pretty much nothing about Vivienne other than she's a hardass yet she's somehow *worse* than a woman who had several innocents killed so her fanatics could be fanatics.

lol

Pretty much. I really hope you can't change Vivs pov just so Xil gets upset when playing the game.

I find it interesting that while I share Xil's dislike for the character, though not nearly to the same degree, it's for contrasting reasons.

Xil apparently hates her due to her politics, where as I dislike her due to her personality and attitude; her politics are the only thing about her I respect.

So retract my previous statement about me and Xil agreeing.

This is going to sound absolutely insane but bear with me.

You don't need to know everything about a character to dislike, like, love or hate them.

CRAZY I KNORITE!??!

No. No. No.

People are much more valuable as allies than corpses.

I fail to see why there should be a distinction between the two.

You see people every day out in the street or at stores or work or whatever. You've probably never spoken to them and knew nothing about them. But there are just some people you can tell you dislike, or like, or feel neutral on, before knowing anything.

I don't see why it's wrong to do the same thing to video game characters.

It's funny.

It is perfectly ok to like Vivienne without all the info but when the dissenters come it's all "you don't even know her, brah".

Ridiculous double standard that just seems to go over a lot of heads.

But you need to know *something*

Take for instance Fenris. Based off his short story from before DA2 I thought I was gonna hate him. He acts nothing like that in DA2. So...yeah...

Sometimes the reasons people adore a character can be why you hate that character.

Vivienne is said by many to be beautiful, awesome, and witty. I don't find her attractive, I don't find her awesome, yet, and while witty, I worry she's going to be a Morriganclone.

That's my logic at least. Don't hate her, but I don't like her. Not yet, anyway.

We knew you'd love her!

Seriously though, I would suggest maybe you give her a chance, and wait till you meet her in game, before you write her off like that.

I can see Vivienne's opposition to the mage rebellion, and her likely involvement in the Game, being issues for some players.

If one is interested in autonomy for mages, then it doesn't seem like Vivienne is an ideological ally.

Xil's opposition isn't surprising, since I can see some wondering if a Zevran type of betrayal might happen if the protagonist opposes her goal of bringing restoration to the status quo.

Oh I know believe me (I like Fenris after all :P)

Ugh. I hope not I didn't like Morrigan 1.

Fair enough ^_^

And that's ok, but Xil goes off with many wild assumptions that people normally would with the little info given

I'm more of wait till you actually see the character in-game before branding them as like or hate

There's plenty to know about Vivienne to form a rough opinion of the character and probably be proven correct.

Point taken about DA2. Hated Fenris right off the bat. Though with more and more playthroughs and from different perspectives I grew to respect and even love the character.

Here's the thing; you can't get onto the people who hate the character without getting onto the people who love the character. We all know the exact same amount of information about her(which I believe is a lot more than "nothing"; we know more about her than any companion except Varric or Cassandra). We've just come to two opposite conclusions with it.

I am willing to admit that Viveinne's portrayal in game might completely prove me wrong and I come to love her. I doubt it, but I'm willing to entertain the possibility. But for now, based on what we know, based on the same information that has others gushing over her, I dislike her.

Where? I wanna read :(

Yep and worst comes to worst  I believe Gaider said we can dismiss most companions so chances are if you *really* don't get along with her you can tell her to bounce. Unlike DA2 where you were stuck with most of them.

Never forgave him for that. Kill him both times, everytime.

You're right here, baby! You've got a whole 60+ pages to familiarize yourself with the basics.

I really doubt that she'll ever agree to be a servant .
Plus, for all we know you might just end up disagreeing on the mage issue. We don't know if we can affect the mage-templar war, and so join a side.

The developers have said we can choose our allies, and cited siding with mages or templars. The templar fort in the trailer (I'm speculating based on the flags bearing their insignia) could suggest that the player will be an enemy to one faction or the other, depending on our allegiances.

That said, it'll be a rather short conversation (on a pro-mage run) if Vivienne's only reason to join the protagonist is an effort to bring back the status quo of the Circles.

Nothing was more appalling than Petrice.

So Vivienne is ruthless and is perceived as a social climber.  An Inquisitor who was romancing her might never know whether her affections are genuine, although of course he or she might be just as much a manipulator.  From the characters we've had any info on, she seems the one most likely to betray us if things aren't going her way, but that might be a bit too predictable.  She doesn't seem like the kind of character I'd normally like since I tend to play mostly goody two shoes characters, but I'll certainly keep my mind open.

True. I probably missed most of the information we have on her. The only thing I know is about the Iron Lady thing.

Fair enough.

Thankfully being able to tell people to bounce is back so while pro mages can tell her to bounce I can hopefully tell any "mages should be free" companions to bounce as well.
