Based on Vivienne's latest description -- I for one am going out of my way to put her in the party when I meet Morrigan. She sounds just as power hungry and unwilling to put up with crap as Morrigan only with Wynne's views on the Circle since the Circle, conveniently, is her avenue to power. Basically, as of right now, she's coming off of as a better-dressed Morrigan.

Its entirely you're choice to associate it with Hate Groups, i merely prefer a more natural spelling of the word, or would you prefer another term? I offered several, you ended up just going on a diatribe response about baiting, no real reason for me not to use it.
Its just a blanket persona don't care for that method of thinking, wouldn't even call it an opinion given we have very little information to go by, but no i am not overly offended by her denouement oft he character, but here is my question to you.
If you don't see my perspective here, why bother even replying?
Are you just seeking to bait me?
Using "Master Race" and "Klan" in the same sentence or post raises a few red flags, at least if you're from the US or Canada. Not sure what else you could've meant by your words.
Just saying.
I confess I am falling firmly into the "not like" group. I don't think she's attractive (eye of the beholder and all that, but seriously, hard as I try, I don't see it); her clothes strike me as ridiculous, not fashionable; and she seems way too snobbish. My first PC is almost certainly going to hate her.
And yet, that is all great. I don't think I'm supposed to like or get along just fine with every companion. Some friction is to be expected, and I hope it will make the game all the more interesting.
I can see why people would be put off by Viviennes self-absorbed attitude and selfish reasons for not supporting her fellow mages, but I think it makes her really interesting, and am looking forward to interacting with her in the game.
I'm still relatively neutral about the mage/templar situation and completely unsure what the ideal solution is, planning on going for a more moderate "meet-halfway" kind of solution since I can see both sides arguments, so I wonder how she will react to my Inquisitor.
It's easy to call her decadence, narcissism and playing of the game flaws, but having an ally who knows how to play the game successfully will be incredibly useful when dealing with Orlesian politics.

I find it difficult to believe she's become a first enchanter if she was solely interested in herself.
There's nothing wrong with seeking power, even aggressively, when you belong to a group of second class citizens. A weak or politically ignorant First Enchanter would be bad for the mages of Orlais.

Great minds think alike.

So if you don't like Viv that means you have a great mind?

Ironically, none of those are the reasons I dislike her for. Those terms could very much describe the character I'm planning for my first run: selfish, loves the Game, prefers intrigue to direct conflict. Maybe a little rough around the edges but actually loves luxury and pleasure and comfort (even if he has a more Fereldan fashion sense). That is one reason I find it even more ironic that neither him nor I are likely to like Vivienne, for entirely different reasons.

No, it's the fact me and him have identical opinions is pretty radical. And great-minded.

You know which companion I think would be the most useful in dealing with Orlesian politics? Iron Bull; every time they try and play me, I'd just have him lop their head off. I guarantee you that it wouldn't happen twice.
But seriously, as much as I dislike Viveinne, I am coming around to find her more interesting - still lower on my list than Iron Bull or Beard Warden, but interesting. So I'm willing to give her a chance.
So if you don't like Viv that means you have a great mind?
Seriously?
Great minds think alike.
Why, thank you, sir.
Still not sure if Human Rogue is my first, or mage. I was originally gonna do human male rogue cause Inq on the right there looks awesome but I don't know D:
Maybe I'll do a rogue and have Viv, Varric and Cass in the party. Or maybe a pro-circle mage....decisions decisions.

Just saying.
I also have used the word Clann, several times, it didn't raise much besides "spelling error" comments.
Just saying, i use a wide ranging vocabulary when referring to the Backwoods elves.
when you do the same every time you run across an elven thread.
What are you talking about exactly ?

I usually go Female Warrior. I tried Female Mage in DA2 and it didn't work out too well.
I think a Mage would probably get along with Vivienne better than a Warrior.

I agree and disagree with you on both points; I find her physically attractive but I find her clothing repulsive.
And while I agree that not every companion should be likable to everyone- you can't please everyone, after all- I feel that they at least need to be tolerable, because if they aren't, I'm just going to leave them on the bench and all the work that went into writing, animating, and voicing that character will have been for nothing because I won't hear 90% of it.

I save my females for second time plays when I got the combat system down and know what I'm somewhat doing. I can bumble around with my males and not feel the absolute compulsion to reload I get with my females.
That Master Warder Z has always made his displeasure for the elves known in those threads, so I don't see why he had an issue with Xil saying she doesn't think she's going to like Vivienne.
Oops, sorry. I thought you quoted me. I love the Dalish and the elves, so I didn't understand what you meant.

I've just never liked playing as a Mage in any fantasy RPG. I'd rather be up on the front line hacking down Darkspawn/bandits/orcs/goblins/dragons and not standing back and hurling balls of shiny light or lightning bolts or fireballs at them.
Besides Merrill and Morrigan I've never actually been too fond of Dragon Age's Mages. Maybe Vivienne will prove me wrong.

There is no displeasure with the Elves as a whole anymore then there is displeasure with Humanity or Dwarves as a whole.
its individual components i take issue with.
