It's from Orlais, what do you expect? At least it doesn't look like a hyperactive color-blind kid designed it, unlike the majority of the fashions in MotA.
I was kind of hoping BioWare would be moving towards practical outfit for women.

@Zerox We're discussing Vivienne as a character, which according to a mod that was in here, is perfectly a-okay. Most of the thread hasn't been bickering and fighting (for once!) mainly just chatting about our pro-Circle mage friend.
I'm worried about maiden crowe coming in and derailing this thread.

Then don't feed her and just ignore her. That's what I do.
@Astus: The mods said it was fine if we continue to discuss Vivienne as a character, so that's why the thread is still going.
Fair enough. A topic title change would be nice in that case though, lol.
So, has it been revealed to which fraternity she was a part of before the split. Aequitarian seems to be the best fit.
That's what I was thinking too, Astus. It would make sense. Boy, I have a feeling that she's going to one of the mages that is really pissed off about the annulling of the Circles. I can't blame her either; my mage Warden would have been heartbroken. That was Vivienne's home. It does make me wonder how she joins our merry band of weirdos.
Something like this?
Doesn't count
A. Its pretty much the same as her outfit in DA2
2. I'm not sure she's a she ![]()

Updated the title.
I just want to see her hair.. ![]()

Why, because she doesn't look like a typical sex pot? My gods, I hope you were kidding. Heck, I'm hoping Cass will be a bi love interest!
Besides, we're only seen concept art for two females. It's more than a little early to decide that all the ladies outfits are going to be impractical. I still find Vivi's outfit prettier and more practical than the Chasind robes from the first game.
Fair enough.

I was going to do but you beat me to it

I will be surprises if everyone isn't bi again, or whatever its called where every LI will screw the inquisitor regardless of anything.
Well BioWare for all their talk of progressiveness still has a habit of putting warrior women into very sexualized armors, there are a few exceptions of course

Actually that armor is a different design. The only thing that it shares with the old one is the seeker symbol.
I'll take your word for it, I'm not looking up her outfit to compare
People are concentrating a lot on her ethnicity, but what I find equally fascinating is the land she comes from. Rivain does not believe in Andraste et all, gets along well with elves, and has Qunari (with a more brutal attitude towards mages). You would think a girl who was from there with magical ability would be more of the independent type.
I'd be very interested to hear how she became a circle sympathizer since the basis of the circle is rooted in Andrastian principles of magic must serve man.
You're being childish by insinuating that we're looking for the answers of the writers. We're not and if Mary wants to share, great. If not, that's fine too. I don't care either way, so long as I can chat with other forumites about this.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion, but no. That was not I was implying.
"Total expectation, etc" was a reference to an old Bioware forum thread where people asked Mary many amusing and outlandish questions about Ser Cauthrein because she asked one somewhat tongue in cheek question. Mary, sportingly answered with much humor. It was not intended as a serious observation about your behavior or that of other forumites, but as a reminder of that thread when even the most insane questions was getting a hilarious reply. I apologize if you thought I was mocking you.
Cheers, Alan!

I imagine the inevitable run in with Fiona will be explosive. Hopefully Vivienne has a bucketload of sass to deal out.

I can also see her being a Loyalist due to her being "extremely pro circle".But If this is indeed the case I assume it would be a means to gain support and advance easily in the ranks rather than blind obedience to the chantry.(Provided that this system works this way) But considering that the Aequitarians are the dominant faction She's more likely to be one.
Not necessarily Vivienne specific, but I'm hoping we will be able to not recruit more companions this time, in DA2 the only one you didn't have to recruit was Isabela iirc
@Steel Wait, what? All warrior ladies are sexual?
We'll start with the warriors then.
So far, in the games, we've only had one female warrior in our party.
Aveline has practical armor and I think she rocks it.
Wow, that was a short list. Let's move on to the rest of the ladies, shall we?
In Origins:
Wynne--Enchanters robes
Leliana--Chantry robes and I usually put her in full armor
Morrigan--Agreed about sexy armor here. But, she isn't a warrior, she's a mage raised in the middle of nowhere.
Shale--Do I need to say anything else?
So far, 1 female in Origins has revealing armor. Now, let's bring up Awakening:
Sigrun--LotD armor
Velanna--Chasnid robes; she shows a lot of skin, so I guess she could be wearing "sexy" armor.
Now for DA2:
Merrill--The most skin she shows is on her arms and her feet. I don't see the sexy there
Isabela--Definitely proves your point here, but she's a rogue not a warrior.
Aveline--Guardsman's armor.
Where is the "all warriors" must be sexy part here? I think you're basing that post upon your disdain for DA2.
@Imported: Ah, so sorry about that then. Tone gets lost in text and I misunderstood ya. It's all good and thank you for explaining your position.

I don't think you had to recruit Fenris either.

I remember reading on the forums that plenty of folks just skipped Bait and Switch. So yeah, you can leave out Fenris as well.

Looks and sounds quite black to me.
Edit: Nvm, topic apparently has moved on.
Nice to see you participating in the forums again, Imported_beer. It's been a long time!
Thanks!
And I got into trouble with my second post!
What do you think? Big changes in lore, huh. Just when I had it all figured out in terms of the Exalted Marches, and the Tevinter Imperium, and the
different attitudes towards mages, they tell me - oh well, all that has changed. Now, I must know more. And Rivain? Secular land where everyone plays well together, or seething pit of communal tension. How did that affect our young Vivienne and her attitudes towards magic.
Promises to be fascinating stuff.
