Also, anyone else think that its a really bad idea to try and open an Eluvian in the middle of a city?

Course. I just wish my Hawke had been able to tell Merrill how selfish and self absorbed that action was. That's the main reason he was against it. If she wanted to do that stupidity somewhere where only she'd be harmed he wouldn't have given a damn. She's old enough to take care of herself.

Last thing I'll say - I was gonna help her rebuild it, but I damn well was never gonna let her turn it on in Kirkwall.

*raises hand*  So much that I don't really think it's worth debating.  Merrill was ridiculous.

But yeah, that Vivienne.

You think she does so at all?

Possibly. We simply have no idea what their relationship is like though I do believe based on the Masked Empire

I did not realize this was the "Everything Except Vivienne Discussion Thread"

Can we pweez get back on topic so this thread doesn't get locked? *puppyface*

Vivienne is a mage and is therefore subject to the Merrill discussion and the anti-mage = pro-circle skirmish. She will likely find herself involved in the mage/templar conflict overall as well.

Improving conditions for mages would increase her political standing within the Circle

I for one am looking forward to having a pro-Circle mage as a companion. It'll be interesting to see how Bioware portrays a character like this. While her politics sound interesting, personality-wise, she sounds impossible, so I suspect I will enjoy being her superior, ie, messing with her.  :P

I also feel like I'm the only one that loves her hat. It's so Malificent...what's not to love?  :P

Well, Celene isn't exactly a model of integrity herself. But we'll see.

I love her hat, too! I hope my Quizzy can have one, also.

I love everything about her outfit  <3

And yet she clearly isn't, if it wasn't for Varric's "protection" she'd have been in a ditch inside a week

I think it'd be really interesting to see a mage who is completely unconcerned with the welfare of the Circle but is instead motivated by purely selfish reasons

Wynne's pro circle no? So they've done it before.

@steel: I trust her to be able to fight a demon at least. And if worst comes to worst they'll see the ****storm coming.

A mage like her? Highly unlikely.

Yeah, whipping out the blood magic in the middle of Kirkwall to save herself will work wondrously

Ah yes, true. I guess I didn't think of her right off the bat because she's hardly political. She may be less pro-Circle more not anti-Circle. In my experience she just says, "Well, mages ARE dangerous..." and leaves it at that, if memory serves me. Vivienne appears to take a strong stance politically, which intrigues me.

Look at the bright side - we wouldn't have Dammit Anders! then.

Because wanting to help improve the plight of the People is clearly selfish?

And Hawke's ignorance about the Eluvians meant he wasn't arguing from an informed position, unlike Merrill, who actually performed extensive research into the Eluvians, from gathering the lore about them to extrapolating information from the shard.

This thread title remind me of the song "Let's Get Physical"

Challenge accepted.

We're saying all the things that we know right now
Making a good conversation
I can handle the Vivienne haters just right
But some can't unfortunately
I am taken to an off-topic conversation
But I quickly try and come on back
There's nothing left to talk about right now
Unless it's in the twitter

Let's talk Vivienne, Vivienne
I wanna talk Vivienne
Let's get on the topic
Let the speculations start, the speculations start
Let the speculations start

I've been patient, I've been good
With the information given
It's gettin' hard this holdin' back
If you know what I mean

I'm sure we'll understand each others point view
We know each other mentally
We never know what we might bring out
When David comes and shakes his head

Let's talk Vivienne, Vivienne
I wanna talk Vivienne
Let's get on the topic
Let the speculations start, the speculations start
Let the speculations start

Like the times apostate Hawke and Anders use magic to defend themselves against their assailants?

A bit out of topic, but I really can't understand the amount of negativity towards a character we haven't got the chance to meet in game yet.

I understand that the way Vivienne is described may not sound positive to some people, while it sounds intriguing to others(me included),but still Bioware characters are known to be 3 dimensional, there's always something more beneath the surface, why can't we just wait and see before being judgemental...

I may be a little biased, but I generally don't approve of opening portals to Maker knows what in the middle of densely populated cities, by people so imbecilic that they make deals with demons

It's times like these that I feel like I should be surprised, but I'm not and I question what that means.

Hawke and Anders have experience, Anders was a Grey Warden, and Hawke is the PC, you think Merrill (who is already a blood mage) is going to refrain from using it?  And then when someone snitches on her to the Templars....
