I think it's more an issue of trusted companions who you know will have your back versus taking a leap of faith with people who have completely different (if not outright opposing) goals than you do.

That's only because ME threw the party into a situation where unity was required above all else.

Had the reapers not been knocking on the door we might have seen something similar to dragon age.

Not to mention that the majority of ME companions pretty much kisses the floor Shepard is on

I would've liked if they disagreed with your actions more, but stayed because of they all need to work together

Isn't it what Veil tears are for? To construct such a situation.

Fair point. One could say the same about the Fifth Blight, but depending on your actions, you could end up fighting your moiety crew; the same might be the case for the trek to close the veil tears.

Seems like.

So we might end up with keeping people with different beliefs and taking leaps of faith, because we could require unity above all else? Maybe that's why devs are taking more liberties with companions this time?

And now we're on Mass Effect....

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to any lurkers/members who intended for this thread have its Vivienne discussion uninterrupted.

Possibly, we didn't see over much conflict in DA 2 until things began to boil over and lines were drawn.

Bah, it's a chat board all over the place now, because guess what - we have no news to discuss about. The ones, that we already know, had been discussed to tears over and over and over.

Then y'all should take that sorta talk elsewhere, this here is for Vivienne lubbers and haters.

Not a shame at all really, Commander Shepard is a far more professional character than either the Grey Warden or Hawke, so it makes sense for her teams to act in a more professional manner, which means far fewer petty arguments and discord with the group. The Grey Warden on the otherhand, is still wet behind the ears and far more desperate for any individual help she can get, which is why DAO's team feels like a bunch of disparate people flung together, because it is. As for Hawke, Hawke well her "team" so to speak was more a bunch of people who owed her a few favors, and kinda just ended up hanging out with her a lot (sort of how quite a few friendships form I suspect), until they sort became their own little dysfuctional family.

What I'm saying is, the group dynamics all fit the tone of their respective games. If you preferred Mass Effect's approach that's just fine (I personally preferred DA:II's) but that doesn't mean it would have been a good fit for the Dragon Age games.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Mass Effect but that's a different game with a different world than Dragon Age.

Mages can afford the fashion. They don't need to fight with their body.

Dat ass!! But Iron Bull and Vivi together gives me good vibes!! Can't wait to heard the banter between the two of them and I know it's going to involve lots of flirting and rejection lol.

Regarding Vivienne's ambition for power, I hope she is a little bit like Littlefinger.
