When you play the Game of Orlais, you win or you die in the public eye. There is no middle ground unless you're generic.
Let's talk Vivienne!

Oh. My. Gosh.
That mind-controlly bit needs to be true. It needs to be.
I would love Viv so much more if she used mind-control to advance.
Especially since she can apply those skills to the enemies of the Inquisition!
The hypocrisy in such a case would be so glorious that I might actually approve of Vivienne to an extent.

How is it hypocrisy?

How is it hypocrisy?
Vivienne's position at court, her appointment to First Enchanter, and her apparent preference for the Chantry controlled Circles when it comes to the mage conflict may be reasons why, since she's part of the status quo but utilizing a forbidden school of magic.

That, basically. And again, it seems like she'd be happier in Tevinter.

I would rather have her just be incredibly clever, manipulative, and charismatic than use blood magic.

Well it's not hypocrisy , it's just her being smart.

Well, I don't think she cares for their rules in the Circle.
She just wants to keep her position of power and influence, and a return to Circles would help with that. As would blood magic...
Might stuff her in a box and ship her to the Imperium.

Tevinter is an idea more than a country, she might have her own little Tevinter.

Well, we actually don't know her true feelings on the subject. Officially, of course she would support the current institution that is ordained by practically everyone powerful person's religion in Orlais. She seems to care about her fellow mages though, seeing as she wants to help them out. I might take some time getting through her Orlesian mask, but her ideals could be completely different from her political persona.

Actually, supporting the Circle while being a blood mage has never before been seen. As opposed to just "obnoxious noble."

I just think having her able to achieve amazing results through her own personality, skills, etc...is more interesting than her using the easy button and being a hypocrite ![]()

If she practiced blood magic to achieve her perfect cheekbones, then perhaps we should look into the universal study of blood magic--

Imagine how skillful and cunning she as to be to get that far anyway, even with blood magic. How many blood mages work their ways out of the circles to achieve great freedoms and power?

I don't know, I think that hiding one's blood magic use is even more impressive.

I think Xil's suggestion is more about having a blood mage who is a bit more complicated and layered than the antagonist caricatures that littered Kirkwall.

Although one who still wouldn't be nearly as perfect as Merrill, but I suppose I just have to resign myself to it.
Of course, amusingly enough, Kirkwall's mages displayed absolutely no correlation between use of blood magic and being possessed.

Hmmm... I wonder what specialization she will have... Since she'll probably have a character specific one, unless they're not doing that.

I think Vivi is going to have a new unique class, but she doesn't seen like the kind of person to turn to blood magic. People only seen to turn towards blood magic when they're scared or see no other choice, well that what DA:2 gave us. Vivi is already confidence of her powers, she doesn't need to be an blood mage.

Yeah we've talked about this before - Glam Mage. Blinding sparkles, deadly perfumes and such.

Or you know she can be a confident blood mage that is not scared, and that knows what she is doing.
