I was joking as well
.
I'm curious to see how Vivienne will look if we equip her with a type of armour.
My understanding is that she would retain her Orlesian overly-fancy look to the armor.
This of course assumes that we can actually equip them with actual sets of armor, and not just equip them with a "fashion change" a la SWTOR.
I hope we find out why Vivienne has an English accent soon, despite having presumably lived in the or orlesian circle for a long time, sufficient to become the head enchanter, and despite having a french/orlesian sounding name.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought their look wouldn't change. I mean, I know we can actually give them armor this time (thanks BioWare!) but I thought it was supposed to keep a signature look for each companion. Am I misremembering something?
It will keep their look, but they won't necessarily look exactly the same.
Edit 3: This new quote system is easy to see who you are quoting, but slightly more difficult when adding quotes during an edit.

The armour/outfit will change based to show their iconic look. I guess that of I put an armour to Vivienne, she should look different.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought their look wouldn't change. From what they said it seems to me that we can equip them with the same armours we can equip our PC.My understanding is that she would retain her Orlesian overly-fancy look to the armor.
This of course assumes that we can actually equip them with actual sets of armor, and not just equip them with a "fashion change" a la SWTOR.

She is allergic to Fereldan fashions. And there's nothing she dreads getting as a Wintersend present because she arranges for those privileged enough to see her for the holidays to select gifts for her from an approved list. Also her shoes are an amazing array of gold-encrusted boots made from rare animals, and possibly the skins of one or two of her political rivals.
Am i correct to assume that she's akin to a strict teacher due to her rank as a first enchanter?
*channeling isabela*
somehow i get the vibe that vivienne is a naughty teacher

Isabela: spoilsport, i wanted to see that.

@Elder I thought so. I figured a signature look with variants (like Cass's trenchcoat, ect) would work for me. Of course, a fashion change like in SWTOR would be fine by me. It was fun tailoring Vette to my very DS Sith, or T7-01 (I liked the red.)
@night Well done! I could hear Bela's voice in my head when you wrote that. ![]()
Vote for Vivi's favorite color: Purple. No one seems to pick purple as their favorite color.

Mine is navy blue, but purple is a very close second.
I've been wondering and hoping how Viv's accent is going to turn out. I'm excited about seeing more folks from Orlais but the accent...well, it tended to be very hit and miss throughout the series.
Example of the accent done well: Leliana. She had a lovely accent and it didn't feel strained.
Example of the accent done poorly: Isolde (TEEEGAAAN!) ![]()
My very first session of Origins, when I didn't know any better, I sacrificed Isolde to save Connor. I'll admit, it was petty but I picked her because I hated that voice. It was much the same with MotA; some of the way those VAs did the Orlesian accent set my teeth on edge.
@Darkchief Indeed. She'll need something a little warmer if the Inquisitor drags her into Ferelden (since we have hints that we'll be returning to Redcliffe in Inquisition.)

Well , Vivienne sounds annoying...it sounds like Posh Spice just joined the DA crew.
Luckily , I will make her walk through miles and miles of mud .
I hope the Inquisitor can troll her , I mean she may have valuable ideas about the mage situation etc...
But she seems to take herself way too seriously.

Including the noble clothes?
I was mostly kidding. To be honest, I like Fereldan fashion, because it is similar to my real life look; practical and comfy. Particularly since I live where the weather does get quite cold. I'm always willing to trade comfort for fashion. Besides, out of the two lands, at least Fereldan fashion doesn't hurt my eyes.

Look, I have to be truthful: The majority of the fashions that I saw in MotA were color clashing. I like the design, but the colors looked like a hyperactive colorblind kid put them together.
Perhaps I should amend my statement: The Orlesan fashions I've seen so far have been unappealing. Vivienne's looks a lot nicer and coordinated, so I'm hoping that there has been some evolution with the art style with the fashions.
And yes, I think the noble clothes in Ferelden overall look better and more practical than what I've seen from Orlais so far. I like the lines, the classic design and the simpler color schemes.

Leliana was voiced by an actual French actress (Corinne Kempa) whose speaking voice I find quite lovely (even when she's a poodle). So I'm hoping they will get more natural french speakers for DAI.
And I think Vivi's favourite colour is peacock blue.
Edit: Oops I got the VA wrong. ![]()

OMG, that video was too cute! Vote to request to have a poodle available to summon!
On a more serious note, that is probably why I liked Leliana's voice. I'm not saying all Americans are poor at doing French-type accents, but Isolde's VA wasn't great at it. Of course, that was probably as much do to directing as the actual voice. Someone had to encourage her to say those lines that way. The accent I think wasn't my issue so much as how she said her lines. I hope they can find a native French speaker for a VA for Vivienne. She deserves an awesome voice to go with her great design.
The cameo in MotA didn't help my opinion of Isolde's VA. I'm sure the lady does a great job with other roles, but I really hated how she did that character. Don't mind the side tangent there. ![]()
Peacock blue, eh? Hmm, with gold trim...that would work. Not to mention Vivienne would look utterly fantastic in that color scheme.

Yes, it was a little over the top. Maybe "a little" is an understatement. And it is a bit too weird to see Leliana's voice coming out of a poodle. I don't want one as a summon. ![]()
Back on topic though, I think Mary's description makes Vivienne sound like she'd match "Ortolan Bunting" from the "characters as foods" thing.

It's sad, but I expect to seeing White Vivienne mods soon after DA:I's release.
The Forstbite engine is not moddable thankfully.

It's almost impossible to mod. For now. I'm sure that they'll find a way to mod the game, at least for some minor things. The Forstbite engine is not moddable thankfully.

LOL. I'm gonna love that woman, no doubt ! I can't imagine all the fun to discover who she is. Only those two lines already made me excited. That's too weird. ![]()

To be fair, most noble clothes we've seen (Fereldan, Orlesian and FMish) have had pretty garish colour combinations, lol.

Three words for you: Romance Bethany mod. You may now commence vomiting.
And I'm with you when it comes to the Bela mods. She's gorgeous and didn't need a face lift. My "favorite" (sarcastically, I assure you) is the one that claims to be "Improved Isabela"...which made her light skinned with red hair and blue eyes.
Back to Vivienne: Since this thread is about her in general, is there anything about Vivienne that is interesting to you yet? Or do you still want more information before you make your opinion?

A mage with active ties to their family (outside of Bethany) would be quite welcome.
