What did he say?
He wrote 2 companions for DAI, and mentioned on tumblr that he wrote 2 romances. We know, that he's the author of Cass, you can figure out the rest.
I'd rather she just stop the romance in that case instead of being jealous, I like confidence!
Fair enough. If that were the case, I'd at the very least like some hilariously snide comments about my lack of taste.
Do we know who else he is writing? It kind of just depends on how many characters he's writing as to how good the chances are that Cassandra was one he meant. I don't know how many he usually writes. It seems like it probably wouldn't be half the team for one writer, though, so I can see the improved odds.
Yeah, I've seen people say they think it'll be 6/3 before. I'm still a little skeptical of that number. It's true that DA has had more male characters in the past, but never this slanted.
In DA:O there was one more male concept, counting both Alistair/Loghain as characters, if you got Shale. Without Shale, that's two more.
If you played a mage in DA2 and got Sebastian, that was a 5/3 slant towards guys. If you were a non-mage and didn't get Sebastian, though, it was one up for females. Basically, there was one more male concept in DA2 as a DLC.
I have a hard time believing they'll slant it that far towards males this time. I think probably there's one or more females they've just kept under better wraps than we realize. I know the strongest speculated companions are Cullen, Dorian and Cole. I think we'll probably get one and maybe another as DLC. I'm speculating another female is in the works that is either totally original and not yet leaked, or just not expected.
Of course, I admit, this is totally my baseless speculation. It may be 6/3 in the end.
Origins had Leliana, Morrigan, and Wynne. Shale was kinda... non-gender specific for the most part. Shale said gender didn't matter as far as Shale was concerned. Shale was also a DLC character.
DA2 had Merrill, Aveline, and Isabela as permanent party members. Bethany was technically optional. So... 3 females is the tradition.

I think he wrote Solas and Cassandra

2 companions, as i said. Idk about the number of NPC's under his care, so unless we are going to have an NPC romance, 2+2 = ?
Then let me keep it in a bun
Sigh... ok..

They might do a NPC romance ala Traynor/Cortez. At least, it sounds like something I read in passing somewhere, but it could be me hoping for people who want Mahogany man so badly when he might be a NPC.

Well, I mean he said he wrote two romances, no? Did he say how many characters TOTAL that he's writing? Including the ones that haven't been announced?
Sorry, I'm not arguing the point, just asking for clarification.

I'm pretty sure it's just 2 companions, amigo.
Meh, even if Vivi is not a romance, but proves to be of a magister mindset, she will be my buddy!

Ah, okay. What's the other one?

No confirmation, yet, but there's a lot of speculation that it's Solas, the Elven Mage.

Aye. He wrote two companions. He wrote two romances. Therefore, any companions he wrote are romancable.
I hope we can have Viv as an LI it has always been Male gets Mage female and Rogue female(Morrigan,Leliana,Merrill and Isabela)but this Cassandra thing is weird because we never had a female warrior LI before.
I don't know; I'm probably reading too much into it, but the way he's announced it, saying he's written two companions and then saying he's written two romances, as opposed to saying "both of the companions I wrote for will be romances", i.e., explicitly tying them together, makes me think there's a possibility that the pairs don't match up.
Certainly he wouldn't write a romance for a companion he didn't also write for, but the possibility for NPC romance shouldn't be ruled out.
Then again, like I said, probably reading too much into it.
Well Vivi can always just be our best friend! I like the friendship conversations also. I'm still wishing for a Bromance/Sismance kind of thing.

Is my english that hard to understand? Sorry if so, but others has already clarified, i guess.

The only reason why I don't think it's this, is because there's an approval system still. ME didn't have that with their romances so it was more plausible to romance an NPC. Unless we bring them out, how can we bring up the rating? And we can't given them gifts because they're an NPC. How would we do that?
So, yeah, that's why I doubt they're taking a page from Mass Effect's book.

It's definitely a trend I'll be glad to see end. I've been wanting a female warrior LI since Origins.

It's possible NPC's will approve or disapprove of your actions during missions that they hear about in reports and what not. And gifts could be given via dialogue options as opposed to selecting the gift in the inventory.

I think the former is a little far fetched, but maybe with the gifts. Idk, I don't think it'll happen. I certainly hope not.
