I already admire her as a character tbh,but I'm certain that my "in game attitude" towards her will be very different depending on the playthrough...Some of my characters will Love her,others will hate her and others will just be meh.
What I expect from her as a companion, is character development and layered personality,which is what I generally want to see in characters and so far DA characters haven't let me down in this department.
Yeah, her letter thing made me go "And I'll want you on my team why?"
I've got a couple reasons why I would. If we end up somehow dealing with The Game, I'd want her to be there. I just want her to be less impractical than Morrigan. Morrigan could be tough to befriend (never romanced her) but I liked her personality. I wanted to shake her every time she went for the most Stupid Evil option available though.
From what I can tell, Vivi is far too experienced for that. So I can deal with a possible caustic and snarky nature, as long as she isn't a moron tactically.

This is exactly what I do in my games, according to the personality of my characters, who are their LI, what are their beliefs, etc etc. But, me, the player, loves Vivienne as well;

I love how much her looks has improved since this demo. She looks a lot younger now imo.

The Game is likely, given how the player will head to Orlais. I heard from one of the podcast interviews with Laidlaw (the one where he announced the Vashoth being a racial option) that they were thinking about structuring the persuade style option in a fashion of picking points that would address your knowledge of noble customs, as one example, in determining how well you can deal with the nobility. That may come into play with Vivienne or the Game, if it's implemented.
I think that it was Mike that tweeted a few months back that "If we go to Orlais, there must be a masquerade ball."

Whenever Morrigan would say something evil or disapprove I would laugh. I had a hard time taking her seriously, I mean it was clear she thought that was the best course of action. But she never went out of her way to actually do any of it. I just always took it as she didn't know any better and was a bit childish in that way.
As far as getting sass from Vivienne, I have no problem with it as long as I can give as good as I get. I don't care if she is snarky and mean, I'm not going to relegate her to bench warming because she doesn't like me. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I had Varric on the bench more often than not because I never really felt like I earned his friendship. We were just friends because we drank together and he was a nice guy. I'd probably have felt differently about it if I'd been able to see some of our drinking sessions, but there you have it. At least with Vivienne you have to chance to examine how she makes you feel and if she is worth the effort of getting to know her.

@Baxley: Trust me, that's nicer than I wanted to say about some of Morrigan's decisions. I have never installed the Slap Morrigan mod, since I never hated her that much. There were days were she drove me sodding crazy though.

Agreed. The second she overly mocks the poor and desperate off to the bench she goes until I need her.
Little late to the party... but I don't really like her. It's not the fact that she is not really attractive in my eyes... that is not the important part... I really have not heard a thing about her that doesn't scream arrogant and selfish to me... the game might prove me wrong, but this is the overall picture that the news brought to my head.
I must admit, I do not really understand this position. 
You are with powerful companions, with influence, with a big mission to accomplish, against the odds, not in holiday with your friends. Being rude with words to some random folks is hardly a reason for my hero to be pissed off against one of my companions, while he must saves the world from chaos.
I never was offended by the opinions of my companions, personally. Being " nice " isn't a requirement for me. Disciplined, yes. that's all matters.

I think Viv might get along with Iron Bull, and she seems to have nice banter with Cass, almost like Isabela and Aveline.
Fictional or not, your desire to perform violent sexual acts on women you consider stupid does not strike me as cute or amusing.
I apologize if I offended you by that statement. It was hyperbole done for amusement, nothing more. I honestly would never do that to anyone for any reason. I don't truly have a desire to do that at all, so please don't believe I honestly think that way.
