I'm not sure if this is related to the slower loading times, but I noticed not long ago that the website was running a bit slow overall and I checked Chrome's Task Manager: The new forums were using up 1.2GB of RAM with 5 tabs open, which is about how much Mass Effect 3 usually uses in-game for me.

After closing all of the tabs and re-opening them, it went back down to about 120KB. Now every time I refresh a page, it keeps going up. I'm back up to 240KB right now.

Normally I would think this is an issue with Chrome, but it's only happening to the new BSN forums.

Just figured I would let the web team know about this, and see if anybody else is having similar problems.

I seem okay, but I'll keep an eye on it.

It's not a website issue, it's how browsers handle them. To keep performance up modern browsers tend to use as much RAM as possible since it has the fastest access compared to hard drives or SSDs. Browsers also tend to cache a lot of data, the more RAM you have the more data they cache to make navigation fast and keep downloading times at minimum. That means that every page you open is then cached in full and remains there even after you close it in case you might reopen it in the future. This prevents constant redownloading of web pages when it's not necessary.

This new website uses a lot more pictures than the old BSN, so it's going to take more space.

Keep in mind that your operating system WILL get all the RAM he needs if you launch another memory intensive application (like a game). So if you have 4GB of memory and half of it is used by your browser, by the time ME3 has launched the browser data would've been scrapped or moved to the hard drive and you game can use all the space it needs.

TL;DR we're not in 1995 anymore, don't worry about RAM.

It's not like that razr. I always keep an eye on memory usage, and I always have lots of tabs open. This bioware site, however, by itself, is using more than 1GB worth is memory. ME3 and Warframe, on the other hand, only uses about 700MB memory. Apart from that, the site loads very very slow, as if on dial up. The most alerting thing is, if i force close Chrome in Task manager, and then reopen the tab, it would load in a snap.

EDIT: while forum.bioware loads as if on dial up, all other tabs are working just fine, and my computer is not being slowed down by it. But I wonder what would happen the moment it reaches the limit amount of my memory, if I just keep this tab open and fresh it every few minutes.

Might be a problem with Chrome, or something in the website is making Chrome act in a weird way. I'm using Firefox and the website loads as fast as any other page. On top of that Firefox is using just 600MB with various YouTube tabs open and other websites.
